25.01.2022 From our little family at JBS Physiotherapy, we want to send out a special note to you all - our caring and supportive community - over this long weekend. Cherish every moment you have with your loved ones. Hug, kiss and love them. We have been rocked these last few weeks with the devastating news of serious injury and then the passing of Janet's nephew back in South Africa. We send our love and strength to Janet and her family during this sad time. We all know how much she... gives to every person who she comes into contact with to optimise their lives; not just physically but holistically. Thanks to all your support and understanding during this terrible time. It's in times like these where we all can take a moment to appreciate what we have and remember those we have lost.

18.01.2022 The word needs to get out! Frequently we have had people say that they are awaiting a knee arthroscopy (key hole surgery for washout/debridement) for knee pain when they have significant arthritis. Sadly far too many people go ahead with this surgery despite increasing evidence suggesting that weight loss and specific exercises have better outcomes. Are you in this position? Feel free to contact us today. http://www.smh.com.au//doctors-advised-to-stop-performing-... #physio #lanecove #surgery #athroscopy #kneepain #pain #exercise #fitness #weightloss #jbsphysio

16.01.2022 It may be hot out there at the moment, however it's important to find an enjoyable exercise to maintain and boost both your physical and mental wellbeing . #physio #lanecove #exercise #Health #happiness #sport #mentalhealth

15.01.2022 It is a widely held but incorrect belief that running is bad for your knees. However, recent research at La Trobe University has shown that a "history of recreational running was associated with lower prevalence of knee osteoarthritis compared with sedentary individuals". Therefore this research evidence highlights that running may actually be good for our knees and contribute to better knee health. At the very least, even weight bearing exercise like walking would be beneficial. With the Lane Cove Fun Run approaching its the perfect time to get active - hope to see you there!

14.01.2022 Two weeks to go to the Lane Cove fun run! Another good reason to sign up #exercise #physio #fitness

12.01.2022 We all know that living a sedentary lifestyle carries risks. However, the shocking results from this study revealed the health risks associated with a lack of exercise are even greater than smoking, diabetes and heart disease. Lane Cove Fun Run is just one month away, a great time to get yourself moving. #lanecovefunrun #fitness #physio #running

12.01.2022 We’re proud sponsors of the Lane Cove Fun Run 2018. Only 5 more weeks to go- looking forward to seeing you all there!

12.01.2022 Calling all creative friends! 08.01.2022 When you hear 'disc bulge or rupture' what do you think? Do you instantly think that the only method for recovery is surgery? Sadly far too often people think that surgery is their only path to recovery. Our bones recover, our nails regrow, and our wounds heal so why should our spine, one of the most important structures in the body miss out on the processes of self-healing? Often we have had patients with significant neurological symptoms that have significantly reduced fo...llowing appropriately guided exercises. Gradually more evidence is gradually supporting how and why we are able to avoid the knife! Have a read #JBSphysio #lanecove #backpain #surgery #physiotherapy #sydney #exercise

04.01.2022 Do you choose physio before surgery? Are you one of the 3 million people suffering from osteoarthritis? More and more people are going down the path for a total knee or hip replacement. This may be due to an increase in the prevalence of risk factors (age, obesity, injury), increasing expectations for improved quality of life, and improved surgical and anaesthetic techniques meaning that more people are able to undergo safer surgery. So what can you do to help avoid the sur...gery, reduce your discomfort whilst awaiting surgery or work on to enhance your post-operative recovery? Seeing a physiotherapist should be high on your list! We can help identify areas of weakness (such as gluteal muscles and Vastus Medialis Oblique) and develop specific strengthening programs that do not aggravate your symptoms. The targeted strengthening can also help to improve your kinematic chain and biomechanics. This can reduce areas of overload within the joint, thus reducing the pain experienced and limiting the progression of joint damage. We can also work with you to develop a manageable way to complete exercise that can assist with weight maintenance or loss as weight loss can have a significant impact on pain and disability. https://twitter.com/9NewsAdel/status/915855881027297281 #physio #exercise #kneepain #pain #lanecove #health #strengthening #lanecovephysio
