22.01.2022 Happy Saturday everyone! Over the next few weeks we will be re-introducing our Physio One clinicians and our amazing reception team! Stay tuned... To start off, please meet Francis (for those who may not have met Francis...) Francis has over 20 years of clinical experience and recognises the importance of offering a caring and holistic service tailored to his clients’ individual needs. He has a special interest in a hands-on treatment approach to spinal conditions, sports-related injuries, particularly basketball, and elderly care. Also, Francis’ postgraduate training in the Watson Headache Approach and musculoskeletal acupuncture adds further dimension to his treatment technique. In Francis’ free time, he enjoys giving back to the community through numerous mentoring roles for younger clinicians and the university. He also appreciates a causal game of golf and spending quality time with his young family. Physio One is incredibly fortunate to have Francis as part of the team. You can book in with Francis at Taringa and now, ALSO at our Pullenvale clinic.

19.01.2022 Our Physio-tailored 'Re-balance Pilates' classes are specific for all our clients. We offer mat classes at Taringa and Reformer classes at Pullenvale where we work with BodyLife Studio to bring you the highest level of care All of our classes are run with a Physiotherapist, which makes the class suitable for all ages/levels of ability/most injuries or during rehabilitation phases. *Health fund rebates may apply when classes are run with a Physio* A reformer assessment is... always required since an individual program will be designed for you based on this assessment. This will help us to ensure your safety and the highest quality of care for you. Prior to attending a mat work class an assessment with one of our Physio's is recommended and required if you have any medical conditions/injuries/pregnancy or are new to Pilates. All of our group or one-on-one sessions are extremely beneficial to clients who are currently undergoing treatment for a injury, or have medical conditions (i.e. poor balance, joint replacements, women's health conditions, pregnancy). After a Physiotherapy assessment has been completed we can best establish a home and in-clinic program to work with you on achieving your personal health goals. To find out more please contact the clinic directly for enquiries and bookings (3870 4969).

12.01.2022 ALL of our physios have done further post-graduate training in dry needling to provide you with the highest standard of treatment Posted @withregram @theprehabguys WHAT IS DRY NEEDLING?... Do you have tight muscles, painful joints or trigger points, headaches, or other orthopedic pain issues? If so, maybe your doctor or other practitioner has suggested a trial of dry needling to treat your pain. Dry needling is the insertion of fine filament needles into the body, specifically neuromuscular tissue, with the goal of decreasing pain and spasm. There are many conditions and symptoms that can be treated with dry needling, and many methods of delivery for this modality. As stated above, dry needling is defined as the insertion of very small needles into the human body to treat pain, trigger points, and soreness. There are many methods of delivery, and one must receive adequate training on how to implement this modality safely and effectively. Currently, laws and regulations that govern a physical therapists’ ability to perform dry needling treatment vary by State. Before receiving dry needling treatment, you will want to make sure you are an appropriate candidate and that you have been screened for any health conditions that may prevent treatment from being safe & effective. Finding a highly trained, educated, and qualified therapist can help you do just that! There is an extensive amount of musculoskeletal conditions that can be treated with dry needling. Patients with pain syndromes, neuromusculoskeletal disorders, and movement impairment syndromes can all benefit from treatment Simple muscle tightness, strains and sprains, an overworked body needing recovery, muscle activation, swelling reduction, and pain modulation are all examples of clinical use of dry needling. Dry needling is a tool utilized during treatment and it has been demonstrated to be most effective when COMBINED with therapeutic exercise and manual techniques from physical therapists. Dry needling is a ‘tool in the toolbox’, if you will, to treat acute and chronic pain.

03.01.2022 Returning to sport after birth We understand that being able to return to the gym or impact exercise (like running) is super empowering physically and mentally... however there are a few key considerations a Women's Health Physio will be able to help you to assess before you return to it. It is important to understand that once your baby has been born, your body will undergo healing for months after birth. After giving birth, the hormones are adjusting and can often c...ause increased movement within the fascia holding the pelvic organs in place. Aside from the increased mobility, there is also an extent of physical healing which the pelvic floor and abdominal muscles have to go through. (This time frame may vary depending on the type of surgery and also if any complications occured during pregnancy or birth). The key things a Women's Health Physio will assess includes; the pelvic floor, abdominal/core strength/endurance and lumpopelvic stability. Throughout this assessment we can gain an idea as to your body's current ability and whether certain risk factors need to be kept in mind when gradually returning to exercise it is just as important to look after your body and pelvic floor after giving birth, as it is during pregnancy . For enquiries you can contact the clinic or book in online with our Women's health physio, for a post-partum women's health / pelvic floor assessment and a guided return to sport program! #pelvicfloorphysio #pelvicfloorhealth #womenshealth #femalehealth #postpartumworkout #exerciseismedicine

02.01.2022 Abdominal separation after giving birth? Here is how Physiotherapy can help!! (Please share this with all of the "new mumma's" in your life) Diastasis recti (DRAM) is the partial or complete separation/or thinning of the linear alba (connective tissue) which holds together the abdominal muscles ("six pack muscles"). Research has shown that ALL females will experience some degree of abdominal separation during late pregnancy...it is so important to undergo Physio and exercise... rehabilitation in the early post-partum period to ensure that we facilitate the abdominal tissue/muscle healing process. Physiotherapy, assists with abdominal separation through; abdominal binding, compressive garments, specific abdominal exercises and education around correct posture/loading with daily activities (such as breastfeeding, lifting bub, exercise). Our whole team at Physio One is committed to supporting you with your rehabilitation after giving birth. Here is how! Start with an assessment with our Women's Health Physio to fully assess the degree of your abdominal separation, and discuss any pelvic health/bladder/bowel concerns. Then, work with the rest of our clinical experts to return to your favourite exercise! Whether this be Clinical Pilates (supervised by our Physio) or high intensity workouts at the gym. Our whole team will support you and your body along the way For bookings or enquiries, please visit our website www.physioone.com.au Image Credit: by @itsjulieread
