25.01.2022 Yes, yes, ..... and YES! ..'We have all the proof now in the world to prove that music supports academic education"

25.01.2022 This is some great advice here from Australian piano educator, Elissa Milne. Here are ten useful tips to set our your child's piano journey on a good path. Have any questions? Please PM me (Melinda).

25.01.2022 HELP DEVELOP YOUR YOUNG MUSICIAN Three simple, yet effective, things you can do to help develop musicality in a young child are: 1. PLAY! lots of music at home and in the car, and LOTS of variation, not just pop: jazz, musical theatre, instrumental, classical, folk, world music and orchestral works. 2. SING! to, and with your children every day. Even if you're not much of a singer, sing loud and proud.... 3. DANCE! dancing is also great for the soul, and developing rhythm and musical feel. If you play a musical instrument, play in front of your kiddies to spark interest...!

22.01.2022 HELP! KEYBOARD CLASSES OR PRIVATE LESSONS? (Question from dad of a 4yo) Both keyboard classes and individual ('private') piano lessons are great for little ones - but it depends on the teacher and the child. So, the answer isn't straight forward.... Some kids prefer group classes because of the social aspect, the group activities and games - some of which can only be done with at least a few people in the room. With group lessons, however, there is more need for a parent/carer to assist the child during the class, as the teacher cannot give full attention to each student, which is understandable. Conversely, some kids prefer the one-to-one nature of individual lessons, where all the attention is on them! My 5yo prefers the doting attention only a private teacher can give! For little ones who struggle with noisy social settings, individual lessons might be more comfortable and better for their needs. Individual lessons, however, can be more 'intense' for some children, and does require a different level of focus. In either learning scenario, having a teacher who understands the unique needs of preschoolers is an absolute must! A warm, nurturing and positive manner is essential, as well as the ability to have fun and engage with young ones is imperative. So, whether your child is better off in a quality keyboard class or in individual lessons will depend upon a few factors. Do a trial for both and see which your child prefers, and responds positively to. Both can be a great start on the musical journey. If you have any questions, please message me! Melinda

16.01.2022 After attending a fantastic workshop dedicated to teaching piano to little kids, I signed up for the course training. I've never been into teaching methods, but this method is so comprehensive and well-rounded. It is the best I have seen by far! So, watch this space, as I will be introducing private lessons in KINDERBEAT PIANO to the studio very soon - designed for kids as young as 3 years old.

15.01.2022 The Sound of Music soundtrack is a big favourite with both Miss 5 and Miss 2 in our house. They particularly like "Do Re Mi" ("do a deer a female deer...."). This song is GREAT for introducing the musical language, the musical scale, (Do Re Mi Fa So La Ti Do), melody and part-singing: and it's a great sing-along tune!

15.01.2022 I could think of a few kiddies who would love this keyboard! Too cute..
