14.01.2022 The Plumbing Industry Climate Action Centre (PICAC) together with NDY Group is proud to announce that PICAC Narre Warren was last night awarded the 2020 AIRAH Excellence in Sustainability Award. PICAC Narre Warren is the first Net Zero Energy (NZE) education and research facility in Victoria, Australia and has been designed to utilise the very latest technological advances in water reticulation, heating and cooling systems, training delivery, safety, new product innovation an...d sustainability practices. The project utilised the building’s own foundation screw piling to source geothermal energy for the facility’s heating and cooling requirements. The combination of 220 geothermal energy wells and the rooftop solar made this a groundbreaking project, showcasing how buildings are part of the solution to the challenges of climate change. Thank you to our partners International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials, Master Plumbers and PPTEU Victoria and to all those who contributed to the project. Yarra Valley Water says p...ower outages resulted in water from the Silvan Dam entering the city supply without being properly treated. Fire Industry Training (RTO 22101), The Service Trades College (RTO 31239) and CEPUTEC (RTO 4612) will operate from our campus, offering fire and plumbing apprenticeship and post-apprenticeship training and safety, OHS and construction industry skills training. 06.01.2022 PICAC today welcomed The Hon Cameron Dick MP, The Hon Mick de Brenni MP, The Hon Di Farmer MP and the Hon Melissa McMahon MP along with Logan City Council Mayor Darren Power and several community leaders, industry stakeholders and Queensland apprentices to the official sod-turning ceremony marking the commencement of construction of the Queensland Apprenticeships Centre at PICAC Beenleigh. Once completed, the Queensland Apprenticeships Centre at PICAC Beenleigh will allow for... a further 200 new training places a year. The Centre will incorporate industry-leading technologies, including the establishment of a Hydrogen Centre of Excellence, which will enable Queensland’s plumbing workforce to unlock the future of safe and renewable hydrogen. Investing in state-of-the-art training facilities will attract new workers to the industry as well as meet projected demand from existing apprentices and tradespeople" - Queensland Treasurer Cameron Dick.
