14.01.2022 Larry Pickering (1942-2018) We pay homage and our remembrance to you, our beloved Larry, who died this day 19 November 2018. Larry may forever be fondly remembered, in spite of his enviable vocabulary and linguistic mastery, for the extravagant profanity;his prolific use of expletives and epithets which were so eloquently interwoven within his narrative, piercing the veil to convey a truth or reality, in a way that enabled many mere mortals to brutally understand the quintess...ence of what he so vividly saw within the daily deluge of laughable political and bureaucratic outrageousness and stupidity. Immortalised by his candid caricatures’ and cartoons, and revered for his artistic abilities, captured in his watercolour paintings of the Australian landscape which he so dearly loved, and his addiction to living life to the full, we thank you, Larry, for all the memories, the rib-tickling portrayals and for Winding-Up with us one last time with some hilarious moments and stories of your remarkable accomplishments and life. 14.01.2022 Show us’ yer donger I mean how hard could it be to sell a few calendars right? A lot bloody harder than you think in the late 70s’ when its full of dongers, not least the dongers of the pollies of the day, and it’s not like Larry was besotted with blokes dongers', he said that himself, but he was an observant bloke and he noticed that the donger was representative of a bloke's personality and character and so began Larry’s infamous weekly Jungle series and a new era of ca...lendar that anyone with a sense of humour had on their gift wish list; little did we know however that he put everything on the line and risked it all, and so too did those who bared all to attend the exclusive upmarket Double Bay launch, completely naked!! The rest is history, hundreds of thousands sold worldwide, prime time coverage on National Tv, the Don Lane Show and well.
