24.01.2022 Fathers day stall this Saturday 29th August 9am to 2pm IGA PICTON. Lots lovely plants; jams; pickles and yummy baked goodies.

24.01.2022 CONGRATULATIONS to Kim Hill for winning 2020 NSW Volunteer of the Year Awards: South Western Division Sydney/Macarthur. Kim did an outstanding job by raising funds to build a memorial at Telopea Park at Buxton for the 3 RFS fire-fighters who lost their lives in 2019-2020 fires in NSW. She also played a major role as Co-manager of the Community Recovery Hub at Balmoral post the fires that ravaged Wollondilly and Wingecarribee shires. You are a true champion.

23.01.2022 Public Land Boundary Fencing Program The NSW Government has committed $209 million to help bushfire-affected landholders with the cost of rebuilding boundary fences adjoining public lands. Local Land Services have dedicated Boundary Fence Coordinators ready to work with private landholders to identify their needs and ensure the funds flow as soon as possible.... Final funds to be allocated no later than 30 June 2021. For more information call 1300 778 080 or click here.

21.01.2022 We are posting this reply onto our FB page to ensure that if there is anyone else who may still after all this time be uncertain about the access to the Community Recovery Hub (CRH) it will address their concerns too. We offer the following reply to the query: We received a query yesterday via Messenger asking who is able to access the Community Recovery Hub (CRH) at Balmoral. The simple answer to the query is that the CRH has been there to provide services to all the fire af...fected victims of both Wollondilly and Wingecarribee shires. Whilst the CRH is located at Balmoral it has never been just for the residents of Balmoral. It was decided after discussion with both Councils to centrally locate it at Balmoral as at that time it had the highest number of affected properties. Note: All donations received were specifically given to the CRH for Fire Affected families and that the CRH does not (and never has had!) borders when it comes to helping those in need. The Hub has jointly with Red Cross, Anglicare, Salvation Army, St Vincent De Paul and Lions provided a service centre for all fire affected residents across both Shires. The services delivered have always been in accordance with individual residents immediate needs. Of course the needs have changed over time and the type and level of support has been adjusted by all agencies as is appropriate. We have always been open to all residents. As you will appreciate we and the agencies have had to run appropriate checks according to the relevant guidelines and data provided by councils and government authorities on those residents accessing the CRH. This has ensured our services and support are being provided to genuinely affected persons and not those who were trying to take advantage of the situation. After several weeks of operation at the request of Wingecarribee Council we extended our service area to include the southern towns of Bundanoon; Exeter and Wingello. As stated previously the CRH has always been open to all genuinely affected residents. We believe we had communicated this clearly throughout our operation via Council websites; Flyers and Facebook posts. It is unfortunate that after all this time and all our efforts there are still some residents unclear as to the level of access and services provided. We hope this answers that query satisfactorily. 13.01.2022 QUILT DELIVERIES ON TRACK: as part of our Recovery process all the Quilters have come together to provide lovely hand made quilts to every family who suffered a total loss across all fire areas. What started as a project for Wollondilly and Wingecarribee shires has grown as word got out. To achieve this huge task the Quilters from across the country are working together to bring some smiles to lots of faces. The work they have done to date is stunning. They will continue to ...work hard until all victims receive a very special gift made with love. Last week Quilts were delivered to residents of Balmoral who were identified on our Quilt Register. To date there has been 41 quilts handed out to fire victims. Stonequarry Quilters have donated about 30 quilts, personnel donations 5 quilts, Waratah Retirement Village Bargo 10 quilts, Bowral CWA 5 quilts, plus quilts donated from Community Resource Centre, and Scouts. In hand there are 20 quilts which are for children less than four years and four female quilts. Following distribution of quilts to Balmoral residents Fire Victims from Buxton and Bargo villages were contacted. For this group of households 30 quilts will be needed. As you can see this is huge task. Please join me in thanking all the wonderful Quilters for their effort and support of our Fire Survivors and their families. I look forward to sharing some photos with you all soon of their amazing work.

12.01.2022 COMMUNITY RECOVERY HUB WILL BE PERMANENTLY CLOSING: The Community Recovery Hub at Balmoral will be open tomorrow Wednesday 20th May from 10 am until 3 pm. THIS WILL BE OUR LAST DAY OF OPERATIONS. ... Since reopening several weeks ago we have seen a steep decline in residents attending for goods and services. This decision has been a part of ongoing exit strategy discussions between the Hub management team, both Councils and the Office of Emergency Management for the past 2-3 months. We have been working for several months with CWA branches along the south coast as part of our longer term exit strategy and as such will be relocating all remaining goods to those fire and flood devastated areas. We are aware from our discussions with numerous agencies that there is still a very real need in those areas that were hit so much harder than ours. The CWA Picton and both Shire Councils wish to thank all those volunteers who have donated thousands of hours over the past 6 months to assist the residents of Wollondilly and Wingecarribee shires on their long journey to recovery. We have greatly valued your support and friendship through what has been a very stressful, emotional and tiring time. To all our fire survivors we wish you all the very best for your future. The Hub management team and both Councils will still be available should you need ongoing support or require details on support agency contacts.
