23.01.2022 Tonight on the 4th of May, Picton Rural Fire Brigade held its Annual General Meeting. A special thank you to all members who have held roles within our Brigade over the past 12 months. Congratulations to the members who were elected to following Field Officer roles: Captain: David Wyper... Senior Deputy Captain: Andrew Hain Deputy Captain: Gareth Iain, Mark Davis, Lance Watson and Brian Pullman. A special thanks to Picton Social who generously provided the catering for tonight’s meeting free of charge. This was greatly appreciated and enjoyed. We as Brigade look forward to another busy year serving our community.

19.01.2022 You may have heard that the Bureau of Meteorology have confirmed a La Niña has formed in the Pacific that is likely to last until at least the end of 2020. So what does that mean for the fire risk over the coming months? The higher than average rainfall typically associated with a La Niña event is likely to lead to increased grass growth which can pose an increased risk later in the fire season. 14.01.2022 Victoria Bridge Upgrade - Bridge closed day and night from 7am Monday 14 December to Friday 18 December. Between 7am Monday 14 December and 5pm Friday 18 December, weather permitting, the bridge will be closed to vehicle traffic during the day and at night while temporary supports are installed under the bridge. A full closure is required to install these supports to brace the bridge so that parts of its timber structure can be replaced.

11.01.2022 Today marks the start of the statutory Bush Fire Danger Period. In addition to council approval to burn, landholders are now required to hold a Fire Permit issued by their local Brigade. Landholders intending to burn must notify neighbours and the NSW RFS 24hrs prior to burning. ... Picton Rural Fire Brigade has just finished meeting with Santa and can confirm that we will be assisting him with his Santa run through Picton on Christmas Eve. The details are as follows:... Departing Picton Station: 12:00pm Route: Colden St and Emmett Close; Governors Lane; Jarvisfield Estate; Botanic Gardens; Menangle St and Campbell St; Stargard Estate and Davies Place; Lumsdaine St and Redbank; Coachwood Cres; and Stonequarry Estate.
