23.01.2022 Happy Australia Day folks. Here are some photos of RM 16 all done up for the celebrations

23.01.2022 The Volunteers had our first work day for the year, 11/01/2020, lace some items in a display frame. We also obtained a lockable glass cupboard in which we can place smaller display items safely.

23.01.2022 So just an update on things here. As with all restrictions with the COVID 19 and the recommendations, we as a group will not be doing anything until the proposed date that is mentioned in July. This is due to the fact that we have people within the group who are susceptible and who also have kids and we are doing all things possible to protect them and their families. Please be respectful of this. We will provide more information closer to the date or if there are any changes of when things will start to happen again. Stay safe.

21.01.2022 I want to wish all our Volunteers, families and those who look at our page all the best for the Christmas season, take care, have fun, don't party too hard, remember those who may be alone or without loved ones over the break! Merry Christmas from us all here!

19.01.2022 Arrivals and Departures boards. Don't they look amazing. Our volunteers are working so hard at restoring everything. They are doing an amazing job.

19.01.2022 As the year draws to a close, we at QRHV wish everyone a safe and happy new year. There will be many challenges in the new year for us, but we look forward to them. We have a lot of blueprints and drawings to record and collate, as well as to clean and prepare other display items. We expect to be playing an active role in the refurbishment of the Rockhampton Station. We also have a few ideas of our own that will be followed up on! Take care all :).

17.01.2022 As it is close to the end of the year some of the members here are busy with other things so we are closing for the Christmas break. Next year will bring new challenges as we finish sorting and recording drawings and diagrams, about 4,000 in total. We are very optimistic about the new year :).

16.01.2022 QRHV Workday, 14th Sept 2019.

15.01.2022 Our volunteers are back in business and getting back into restoration and preservation of our items. Here we have the arrivals and departures board and the control panel for the board.

14.01.2022 We had another work day today. We are at another Milestone and have finished collating and preparing displays as far as we can for the moment. I recorded 89 line drawing books with most lines north of Howard included. There are some amazing records here. We need to obtain three glass display cabinets and a frame to display the Lander and destination boards we have. They will be powered up and illuminated along with the electric staff instruments being activated. The only thing after this is to record another couple of thousand carriage, wagon and loco drawings! Thanks to all for your work :).

11.01.2022 Today Andrew Stovold, Neil Whiting, Travis Whiting and Peter Draper moved both the old QR model layout that was at the 1974 Ekka and from 1975 to the mid 90’s and old Fairmont Section car to the Rockhampton Railway Station. Andrew and Travis had to do some work on the section car to get it to move but were successful after disassembling the gear box.

09.01.2022 All the volunteers of this group would like to wish everyone a very Happy Easter. Even in the midst of all that is happening right now we hope everyone is well and are keeping safe with all that is going on. We look forward to when we can gather again to continue with all the great work we have accomplished so far and beyond. Happy Easter All!

06.01.2022 Some old photos from our Senior in charge family collection. They were shared on the visitors posts, but i decided to share them here too. Some of the children are still current volunteers today. We are very big on involving our families in the volunteer work we do.

05.01.2022 I would like to announce the first "Third generation" member of the team here in QRHV in Rockhampton. Travis Whiting and his wife, Chloe, are now proud parents to a son. Travis's dad, Neil was a volunteer some time ago and he is also active in the group again, along with Travis. Congratulations to you both from all of us here.

04.01.2022 Today some of our members continued looking through some old technical drawings. Some very interesting historic drawings were found in the pile of drawings. In these drawings were the original blueprints for the Rockhampton Roundhouse (dated 1913) and all the original buildings in the Rockhampton Workshops as well as other interest drawings relating to the Rockhampton railway complex. Some drawings included long forgotten proposals. Some photos of these drawing will be uploaded in the next few days.

02.01.2022 More photos that were on visitors posts. More wonderful finds in our collection.

01.01.2022 Today a small group of volunteers attended the Rockhampton Station to start cleaning the assets we look after in preparation for full documentation and display of items. These are some of the items that have been cleaned this morning.

01.01.2022 Just a bit of trivia regarding the make up of the QR Heritage Volunteers. The group is split roughly equally between male and female volunteers, more than half are under the age of 40 with some in the 20's. The majority are Ex QR, with some Aurizon members. Others have had family with a railway background. Several members are second generation members, ie; their parents were members in the past. it is good having a much younger demographic involved as they can provide fresh and innovative ideas, and ways how to attract a younger interest group. The group s on a bit of a hold regarding new membership due to some uncertainties, but we enjoy it all. It is good to display the items we have and look forward to the time when we have suitable display cabinets etc.

01.01.2022 I had a good discussion recently with Senior railway management about the upcoming refurbishment of the Rockhampton station. Without saying too much, I have been informed that the intent is to include as many assetts, photographs including the large murals as possible in the refurbishment. They are keen to involve us in the work :). I will advise more as the the work commences.

01.01.2022 Meant to put these up earlier. RM 16 all done up. Looks good. Merry Christmas all and a Happy New Year from all of our volunteers.
