24.01.2022 In addition to a customer waiting area, we introduced a retail component above. The shelves display coffee and teas used in store which the customers can buy for use at home. Its important to establish your business model early so that we can incorporate into the design. Featured here are oak shelves against the newly bagged brickwork, softened by some greenery.... 19.01.2022 Nat is one of the directors here at Pierce Widera. Nat is originally from Germany, educated at the School of @sas_htwsaar and @rmituniversity in Melbourne. She has extensive experience in a variety of scales in architecture and interior design, both in Australia and Europe. As a registered architect, she brings many qualities to each project - a spatial understanding of forms and spaces, a fresh design approach with an eye for intricate details that enhance each space, but... also the technical background. She is passionate about great and timeless design, about adding value and a fresh perspective to every client brief. Pierce Widera is all about the "Flow & Feel" of each project. While Amy is the mastermind behind excellence in materiality - the "Feel", Nat's distinct talent lies in the "Flow", how the space functions and works. The photo shows her and @terriwinteraus discussing our Peaches project as part of the @aubydesign Series (you can still vote for the People's Choice Award by the way, please see the link in our bio). 14.01.2022 As the client it is important to surround yourself with the right team. From the designers to the branding consultant and the builder, everyone needs to share the same values and goals to achieve the best outcome for the project. This way, even the trickiest details can be achieved. The board formed concrete bar was an ambitious undertaking, given the spatial limitations of the existing space. However, with a skilled builder we were able to bring our vision to life: a monolithic concrete bar incorporating a glass pastry display as the centre piece. Shown here filled with delicious goodies from @cobblanebakery Photo by @derek_swalwell

10.01.2022 @peaches.melbourne // Peaches is a cocktail bar located in Melbourne CBD and is part of a 3 level hospitality project. . With Pierce Widera taking the vision for the overall 3 level venue of a bright and fun offering, the owners decided to embark on an indulgent project for the middle level cocktail bar, in a somewhat haphazard fashion of choosing pieces they loved and experimenting with different materials and colours. . An organic approach was chosen, moulding and forming t...he design over time through a very collaborate, close and trusting relationship between the designer and client. . The result is a confident and avant-garde bar sitting amount iconic buildings in Melbournes CBD. Photo by @derek_swalwell See more

07.01.2022 New kitchen views at our Fitzroy Residence. To increase light into the kitchen, the existing splashback window was extended and an additional vertical sliding window added to encourage the indoor-outdoor relationship. We are always looking to increase natural light and a sense of space where required. Photo by @derek_swalwell Styling by @natjstyling ... Build by @connellybuilders See more

06.01.2022 We chose the pendants at @duxcoffeebar to accentuate the high ceiling of the space. The lights act as a sculptural element which draw your eye to trace the existing rafters and clerestory windows. We always look to the existing space to find the strong elements to highlight and bring to life. Photo by @derek_swalwell

05.01.2022 At @duxcoffeebar we were balancing the new against the old. It was important to us to retain the existing history of the building while transforming the space to reflect and enhance the clients offering - which is high quality service, coffee and pastries. The existing facade tiles and detailing were retained, the copper shopfront polished and restored and pressed metal ceilings repaired and painted. In the background you can see the blocked off existing windows - we did no...t hide these because we wanted to show the evolution of the building. Working with existing features rather than against them not only adds to the the richness of the space but also helps clients stretch their budget further and is also about being mindful in a throw away society. 05.01.2022 We asked @steve_edwards_furniture to arrange for the stool frames to be custom powdecoated so they would tie in with the minimal menu board ~ here they are seen in the front entrance nook where you can sit down, enjoy your coffee and watch the world pass by. Its important for the concept of the interior design and branding to tell one unified story, reinforcing the vision and brand identity. Photo@by @derek_swalwell

02.01.2022 Our recently completed project @duxcoffeebar ~ a tiny coffee shop in a hidden arcade in Hawthorn. At Pierce Widera we always look to the existing conditions for inspiration for the design. We believe utilising and restoring existing features to reimagine and repurpose. For us, its about looking to the existing structures for clues and contrasting them with a clean and resolved fitout that is unique, bespoke and reflects the clients offering....
