25.01.2022 Paul & Stitches are a very special couple who will require a very special home. Stitches came to us having suffered a hawk attack which tore her open all the way through to her crop. After hundreds of dollars of surgery, she recovered amazingly well - but we also discovered she has kidney damage. The damage means her body cannot osmoregulate properly - she has to drink water more often than other birds, and then pee more. As such she has a special mesh floor cage over the gar...den bed. She was very lonely having to go to a special cage at night away from the other birds, until Paul came along. Paul has a broken wing, and was found wandering the streets of Preston by two lovely people who rescued him. Stitches is absolutely besotted with him, and he has moved in to her special cage with her, and they are never apart now. They both dont fly (Stitches can do a little, but loves her food soo much she would rather walk nowadays), so they will require a back yard free from predators to walk around in. We will give you their special rodent-proof mesh night cage for free as well if you could give them a happy life together. See more

25.01.2022 Galaxy Gingerbread is a big beautiful guy and is now available to be booked for adoption at Preston shelter.

25.01.2022 Polo & Abby are up for adoption! Abby (grey) is a special bird who can't fly, as we had to have part of her wing amputated as when she was rescued it was covered in tumors. While she recovered, she met Polo, who is a character, and had eyes only for her. If adopting, you'll need to have your cage set up so that Abby is able to walk up to levels Polo may fly to.

23.01.2022 Black Magick Jamboree and Microwave Cheese are available for adoption! Jamboree (female, front) came to us with a sore eye after her owner died, and Cheese (male, back) made friends with her when he was a juvenile with a sore leg housed in the same recovery cage. Now he is an adult and both are healthy and have fallen in love - they spend many hours each day happily preening each other!

22.01.2022 The chills have been adopted!

22.01.2022 Greatest hobby in the world

22.01.2022 Available for adoption!

22.01.2022 Tartuffe is available for adoption! Tartuffe was found in Northcote in June, badly needing help. He had somehow become covered in hot tar or paint, that had burned down through his skin and hardened in big patches, leaving him unable to move his neck and unable to fly well. When he was about to starve to death he came to some humans for help, and they got him to us! It was a quite a job cutting enough of the tar away to let him move without hurting him, and some areas of feathers may never grow right again. But now he is happy and healthy and able to fly, and he spends all his time here flirting with all of the females! Ferals greys like Tartuffe dont get a lot of adoption interest, so if you could find room for this very lucky guy, youd make him very happy.

21.01.2022 We are seeking help to find homes for 12 birds, some of which have been with us for almost 2 years. These birds will not require an adoption fee as the situation is a little more complicated then usual. Unfortunately we had a quarantine breach at our Croydon location in November last year and lost a number of birds to the PMV virus. This meant for safety reasons we could no longer adopt out birds from that location as it was a risk the virus would spread. The 12 birds you se...e here are the remaining survivors of that tragedy and after almost 7 months of pigeon lockdown, plus having them vaccinated against the virus they are now showing no symptoms. Ideally we would love for all these birds to go together since they have been exposed to the virus it is safer for them to remain as a whole away from other pigeons. That being said it's understandable that this would be difficult to house 12 birds all at once, so we would also like to offer their home a purpose built pigeon loft to accommodate them. The birds you see together are couples, and we would prefer them to remain with their partners. Pirate in particular is missing an eye from previous trauma he received before coming to us and he always likes to keep that one eye on his wife Smudge. We can send the birds to different locations if the right homes are found, it is just not recommended they mix with others that have not been vaccinated against the virus. Please send us an inbox if you can help as we are out of other options for these guys. See more

20.01.2022 Tame mr Achilles is looking for a new home! He's a character, confident, fearless and keen on play fighting with you. He walked into an industrial workplace a few weeks ago, with clipped wings, looking for attention. If you'd like an interactive bird with a big personality, Achilles may be for you! (This adoption is run through our friends at Little Miracles Animal Rescue out in the western suburbs.)

20.01.2022 A follower of ours has reached out needing to rehome her family of four pigeons in Dandenong North. Message us if you can help give them a home. 'Family of 4 pigeons needing a new home. Mum, dad and 2 of their babies. The grey mum has a broken wing that has healed so she can fly now but for short amounts of time. The 4 of them love to go for a fly together daily for 30minutes and come back.'

19.01.2022 Carl is available for adoption! Carl came in with a suspected cat bite, and after a couple of weeks of antibiotics he's very well again. He's keen to get out of his cage and start flying, so let us know if you can give him a home!

18.01.2022 Sweet tiny Biscoff is now available for adoption at Preston shelter.

18.01.2022 (ADOPTED) Behemoth may be the largest king pigeon we've had. He has a fearsome deep growl and is so muscular we struggle to hold him, but he is a sweetheart with the juveniles (and popular with our female pigeons). He is available now! Being a king pigeon we again worry people may adopt him to eat, so extra checks will be in place for adopting him.

17.01.2022 Sweet little turbit Edwina has finished her quarantine and is now ready for adoption!

16.01.2022 Our broken/amputated wing crew enjoying some time in the rain today! If you have room in your yard to foster or adopt a couple of broken friends, send us a message.

16.01.2022 This very friendly little ringneck / collared / barbary dove is looking for a home! Shes come to us missing a few tail feathers after an attack, but with a rest and some antibiotics has perked right up.

15.01.2022 Pigeon and a boxer dog are playing ... :D :D

15.01.2022 It comes with a heavy heart that we at Pigeon Rescue Melbourne must let you all know that we will be going on a hiatus indefinitely. During this time we will still be adopting out birds already in care and available for advice but will not be able to take on more birds. We thank all of our supporters and members of the public that have helped save the lives of so many birds, we could not have done it without you all. Yours truly, The Pigeon Rescue Melbourne Team.

15.01.2022 This very friendly little ringneck / collared / barbary dove is looking for a home! She's come to us missing a few tail feathers after an attack, but with a rest and some antibiotics has perked right up.

15.01.2022 We love to see birds with broken wings get new homes! Check out our adoption photo album for more who are patiently waiting for someone to love them!

14.01.2022 We need your help! Are you able to foster or adopt a juvenile? Jangles & Tangles here arent quite ready, as they are still being bottle fed, but we have many other juves waiting for homes. Spring is tough for us at Pigeon Rescue, as so many little ones need help. If youre looking for a sweet little friend you can tame, or could help us out by fostering while we make it through lockdown please let us know.

14.01.2022 Miss Silver has been adopted!

14.01.2022 We love getting updates on how our birds are going post adoption, although this guy was a bit special Some of you might remember Carl, our run away rooster we were seeking a home for some months ago. Well Carl is now Carlos, and he is enjoying the good life at his new home while making many friends from the look of it. Nothing brings us more joy then seeing our birds end up in the forever home they deserve congratulations Carlos!

14.01.2022 Toothbrush is available for adoption! She's a friendly female who loves baths and wants to get along with everyone. She came to us over six months ago with a bit of a head wobble, and went immediately into special isolation. Since then she's back to normal, able to fly very well (despite her slightly clipped wings) and has tested negative for PMV and been given an all clear by a vet. We adore her and hope she gets a good home!

13.01.2022 If you think this might be your bird, please message us with band details. Found birds are held for two weeks then put up for adoption.

13.01.2022 Kim Chi & Ratchet are available for adoption! Ratchet is a tame male - though he is the unpopular type of tame whose joys in life are humping human feet and biting human hands! If you like big, interactive, naughty parrot-like personalities, he may be the one for you! Some tame pigeons we get in are so used to only being around humans that they never want to be around pigeons - we thought Ratchet might be like this but thankfully he found love with Kim Chi. Kim Chi is a tiny... and feisty pigeon, not afraid to stand up to anyone bigger. Shes not tame, but is very brave, and will come up next to you when Ratchet is hanging out on your shoulder. She very much wants to have a baby, so in taking on this couple youll need to be prepared to keep switching her eggs out with fake or infertile ones (and giving her mineral supplements) - unless you want to end up with a whole flock of these big personalities! 13.01.2022 Pigeon Rescue Melbourne would like to thank the team at ALDI Frankston for allowing two of our members to enter an capture a pigeon that decided to do a bit of shopping.

13.01.2022 Are you the owner? Message us with evidence and we will assess your claim. Found birds, if not claimed, will become adoptable after at least two weeks.

13.01.2022 Our big ol' Behemoth got shared around the internet to over 120,000 people - now he has his own fan art! Thanks Seren Sketches!

12.01.2022 We have a large number of birds (roughly 30) needing to find homes at our Kangaroo Ground location. Lots of different personalities, breeds and colours to choose from with every bird that gets adopted making room for us to help more.

12.01.2022 What a great day for our rescue birds to have a bath and cool off

12.01.2022 Queen Elsa has found a home!

11.01.2022 We are seeking urgent response to help rescue a group of birds potentially dumped in Clayton. We are unable to attend at this moment, but the situation requires immediate action. If you can help asap please send us a message in our inbox. PRM team

11.01.2022 Avocado Sushi is still looking for a forever home! He just adores pats and being near humans. He only has maybe 30% of his vision (we saved him from other birds peacking his eyes as a baby) so you'd have to put some time into showing him his new home and making him comfortable around you so he doesn't get spooked by sudden movements. But seeing the joy he gets from pats should make that all worth it!

11.01.2022 ANNOUNCEMENT Pigeon Rescue Melbourne is on the look out for new people to join our rescue and transportation team! As we receive many calls and messages on a daily basis, we cant always be available to help every bird. We hope that by branching out and inviting new individuals to join our cause, we can eventually get full coverage over our state! If you wish to get involved or learn more simply send us a message and one of our admins will be in touch.

10.01.2022 Lest We Forget

10.01.2022 Available for adoption! Mac is a sweet bird whose fan tail (and fluffy feet) has probably been cut short by a breeder. She is a placid friend and will happily sit on your shoulder.

10.01.2022 Till & Spinifex are a loving couple up for adoption. Till is a large, old, bluebar. Spinifex is a little lady who came to us unable to stand with inner ear damage after being hit by a car. She's since learned to walk and fly again, and after a few bad relationships has found lovely old Till. They are constantly preening and regurging for each other and are looking for a forever home where they can be together.

09.01.2022 If any of our followers around Sydney are interested in adopting some pigeons, this wonderful human is looking to find homes for her rescue birds, so like us she can make room to help more! The page this was posted on is private so she has given permission to personal message her for any adoption enquiries.

08.01.2022 Baby Tangles and (/or) Baby Jangles are now available for adoption! These little squeakers are now eating on their own, and looking for a kind home to go to. If you would like a little friend to tame, these two would love to continue the human interaction they've had.

08.01.2022 Just a quick one - some of you may have seen this comment spammed on our reviews. John was blocked because when we asked to see photos of his set-up (so we can see how our beloved rescue birds will be kept) he repeatedly sent us photos he had taken from the internet (complete with watermarks). When you adopt a pigeon from us we want to know that the bird will be safely kept and well cared for. If you cant show us that you will care for our birds, we wont let you adopt. His ...claims about donations are laughable - we are ALL volunteers and between us we spends hundreds of dollars a week in pigeon food and petrol, and hundreds of hours driving around, visiting vets, and caring for our rescued pigeons. We receive very little in the way of donations and are almost entirely self funded. We hope youll agree that there are a lot of pigeons needing help these days which keeps us very busy, and these rescued pigeons deserve to be well cared for.

07.01.2022 Our big ol Behemoth got shared around the internet to over 120,000 people - now he has his own fan art! Thanks Seren Sketches!

07.01.2022 So it looks like our newest couple Blackbean and Blue have some explaining to do We often get couples trying to start a family in the rescue loft, which is fine as they deserve to have some company while they wait for a home. We just swap the real eggs for fakes so they will never know the difference!

07.01.2022 After a long enough wait, Snuggles has been adopted! She is on the way to meet her new partner, Victor a bird previously adopted from us. How exciting for them both!

06.01.2022 Legolas has been adopted! Lucky him

05.01.2022 King William is up for adoption This proud boy was handed into Pets Haven in Bayswater after being found by a member of the public. As no owner could be located, we then offered to give him a place to crash until a new home could be found. Aside from being a little under weight on arrival, he has packed on the grams and now given the all clear. Hes sure been a big hit with ladies sporting his gentle, but firm approach.

05.01.2022 What a great rescue story, with such patience! This is something we get calls about every so often Unfortunately pigeons always seem to get themselves into sticky situations that require a little help from us humans.

04.01.2022 The Croydon crew really making the most of that spring shower We dont let our rescue birds out during their time here in foster for safety reasons, and so that when they do get adopted we dont get any flying back to us. Thats why having a section of the loft where birds can get some sun, rain and have a bath is very important for their health and happiness.

04.01.2022 We need your help! Are you able to foster or adopt a juvenile? 04.01.2022 Black Magick Jamboree, Microwave Cheese & Snowpea have been adopted! Check out our adoptions photo folder for more waiting for their forever homes.

03.01.2022 Doctor and Meliodus are now available for adoption.

01.01.2022 This is our beloved pigeon Becky. She is missing from Bucher Place from our holiday house in Rosebud as of this morning around 11.30am. She has a tag on her foo...t with our number on it. If you find her and are close enough please call the number on the tag. If you spot her anywhere near you (most likely will be in Rosebud in residential area opposite woolworths on point nepean hway).. please message me or reply to this post! Any help would be appreciated! She would usually explore and come home to the holiday beach house as she is familiar with it. However with the awful weather today and her not having returned, we are wondering if she is stuck outside or in someone’s house or a tree or backyard! See more

01.01.2022 Juves! Get your shocked-looking juves! These guys are available from our foster carer in Malvern, and were photographed just before going in to a nice aviary together. They have been hand-raised, eat on their own, and are just learning to fly. They need a forever home though, so if you could adopt one, send us a message.

01.01.2022 Avo Sush & Clover are two blue bars who found love in the garden we have for special birds. Avo Sush was pecked by wild birds as a baby, leaving him with reduced vision in both eyes. Clover has a broken right wing that she drags - the feathers have to be clipped so she doesn't trip over. Both love head scratches. If you can give two disabled birds in love a home, please send us a message.
