25.01.2022 Another happy customer of my weekly vegie bag pilot I have quite a few lovely vegies left over this week,so if you would like to come get some fresh-picked, chemical-free produce let me know.

24.01.2022 The no-dig garden made by the last Introduction to Permaculture students in July is going gangbusters. Just harvested the first pak choi.

22.01.2022 OK. So when you change something in a system, it affects other things in the system. I dug this pond next to my market garden field, for drainage and a handy source of water. I was delighted when the mating pair of wood ducks arrived, not so delighted when they decided that my cabbages and radishes were much more interesting than their natural food. But today I stepped out if the shed to see Mr and Mrs Duck proudly ushering their clutch to the water for their first swim. Worth every cent of the $700 I've now spent on netting...

22.01.2022 I grew a rockmelon! In South Gippsland! So proud of myself. It didn't last long

15.01.2022 A few shots from our recent socially distanced Introduction to Permaculture course last weekend and the weekend before. Most content was delivered online, and we got together in small groups for the pruning, composting and no-dig workshops. Great bunch of students - really engaged not to mention patient with my technological adventures as I ran the show over 2 computers with a mouse in each hand...

13.01.2022 Ok, so I wandered over to visit the goats, and a cute one called Tessa came up to me. I was leaning over the fence, touching noses with her (as you do) And I happened to accidentally touch the hotwire of the electric fence with my wrist. The spark went in my wrist, out the tip of my nose AND ZAPPED THE GOAT. She leapt back with a snort of disgust and I don't think I'm going to get any more goat kisses anytime soon. That has got to be one of the strangest things I've ever experienced. Ive been giggling ever since. Not quite what Bill Mollison had in mind when he talked energy flow, but hey. Everything's illustrative in Permaculture..

12.01.2022 A tour of the Earthship house at Kinglake that was built after the Black Saturday fires.

12.01.2022 Just discovered BOM have an Indigenous Weather Knowledge page that shows the actual seasons of this country. Check it out!

12.01.2022 What do you call them??! There must be so many regional names in the UK for so many of our creatures - like a kind of dialect. As communities widen over the years these words might start to disappear .

08.01.2022 First happy customer of the Piggery Road weekly vegie bag trial Hoping to expand this as my market garden grows, so let me know if you're in the area and are interested

07.01.2022 Some great lessons here from the Middle East where traditional building design has kept dwellings cool for centuries

06.01.2022 This has been one of my Covid projects. Just in time for the daffodils that are starting to bloom in my paddock. Socially distanced daffs, anyone?

04.01.2022 With panic buying and increased concentration in seed ownership, seed saving is more Important than ever. Check out these free resources from Seedsavers.

03.01.2022 An interesting read

01.01.2022 Hello Folks. Bookings for the July course are now closed. However, it sold out so quickly, I'm thinking of setting dates for another soon. Please PM me if you're interested and have missed out this time. <3

01.01.2022 New hot compost heap today. Horse poo, hay, cut grass, capeweed, sow thistles, a bit of ash, due for some serious rain so that should give it a good soaking then I'll wrap her up and let her rip.
