"The trouble with the beard is if you are wearing a face mask you do not get a good seal, so contaminated air can come around the sides," he said. "If I had a beard I would definitely shave it off. 24.01.2022 When I wear a mask in public and in the stores, I want you to know that... I'm educated enough to know that I could be asymptomatic and still give you the vir...us. No, I don't "live in fear" of the virus; I just want to be part of the solution, not the problem. I don't feel like the "government controls me". I feel like I'm an adult contributing to security in our society and I want to teach others the same. If we could all live with the consideration of others in mind, the whole world would be a much better place. Wearing a mask doesn't make me weak, scared, stupid or even "controlled". Makes me caring. When you think about your appearance, discomfort, or other people's opinion of you, imagine a loved one - a child, father, mother, grandparent, aunt, uncle or even a stranger - placed on a ventilator, alone without you or any family member who is allowed at their bedside. Ask yourself if you could have helped them a little while wearing a mask. See more

19.01.2022 NSW Health is urging people to take precautions with heatwave conditions forecast for parts of the state this weekend. Piggott's Pharmacy would also like to remind you to be considerate of your Pets also. Simple ways to reduce the risk of heat-related illness include: Avoid the heat of the day by staying indoors and keeping cool by using air-conditioning, fans and drawing blinds and curtains closed Keep hydrated by drinking plenty of water ... Check on the welfare of vulnerable neighbours, friends and family Plan ahead for hot days. Signs of heat related illness include dizziness, tiredness, irritability, thirst, fainting, muscle pains or cramps, rapid pulse, shallow breathing, vomiting and confusion. People showing severe signs should seek urgent medical attention and, in an emergency situation, call Triple Zero (000). People should also continue to practise COVID-19 safe behaviour during the heatwave. If you are able to cool your home through a combination of fans, air-conditioning and closed blinds, please do so and stay at home. This is so physical distancing in other indoor spaces where people may seek relief from the heat, such as libraries or shopping centres, is not compromised. If you do leave your home to visit other indoor spaces, please physically distance and wear a face mask in places where you cannot maintain 1.5 metres distance from others. Keep in touch with relatives, neighbours and friends virtually through phone, social media or video call.

Not only has the WHO updated their stance on the efficacy of wearing masks, experts say masks are one of the best ways to stop aerosols in their tracks.... "Masks stop the virus-laden aerosols exhaled by an infected person entering the indoor space and also protect others from inhaling it," Professor Morawska said. Professor Marks agrees. If you must spend time in a static environment with a lot of people, consider wearing a mask, he says. Physical distancing is insufficient by itself in a crowded, poorly ventilated space where there is rapid air mixing, says aerobiologist Professor Euan Tovey of the University of Sydney. The best protection from infection in close quarters is a combination of distancing and masks according to research conducted on the COVID-19 outbreak on board the USS Theodore Roosevelt. However, the type of mask has an effect on protection. While a home-made cotton face mask significantly blocks large droplets, it only blocks a proportion of those tiny aerosolised particles, according to UK research.
