25.01.2022 December’s rainfall for us 131mm + rotational grazing (pasture raised laying hens, sheep & cattle) = this luscious paddock. The grass is to thick to walk through & almost as high as the buggy.

22.01.2022 Our children are 7th generation young farmers. Statistics say that most people today are at least 3 to 4 generations removed from the farm and they do not know where the food they eat comes from, and really don’t know the importance of knowing anything about agriculture. The future of agriculture does depend on the next generation. As population grows, so does the need to be able to produce enough food to feed everyone. We need to be sure we are equipping young people with the skills and knowledge to make sound and informative decisions. The more we can teach students about where food comes from, how it is raised and if it is sustainable, the better decision makers they will become.

20.01.2022 When it’s getting very dry & fresh pastures are not available, our piggies still get to enjoy some grass hay which has been baled here when the season was better.

14.01.2022 Monday morning are you ready to laugh? I’m naming this video ‘Duck’ It was late yesterday afternoon when on my lawn I spotted 2 Mumma ducks with a large flock of ducklings, my first thought was aww they are so cute, second thought was I want to show you guys. So I picked up my phone and by then they had moved outside so I went to follow them. It wasn’t long before I realised this Mumma duck is not a fan of the paparazzi a combination of historical laughing & terrifying screams- I was somewhat surprised to find out Mumma ducks aren’t as nice as they seem.

10.01.2022 A new batch of chicks arrived this morning. Layla is helping to settle them into the brooder boxes. They will stay here for approximately 3-4 weeks until they have moulted and grown the white feathers. This is when they are moved to the safety of our chicken tractors on pasture where they are guarded by Lucky the maremma.
