24.01.2022 Clinic update To our wonderful patients, In these uncertain times please be reassured that we are doing everything we can to continue to serve the Hedland people and surrounding communities. However, we are adapting our Hedland Clinic just a fraction.... We will be EXTENDING our hours for the next two weeks to ensure we can do the scheduled necessary treatments for our amazing patients should we be forced to close our doors soon. Our trading hours will be extending to stay open until approximately 7pm Monday Thursday. We are planning a voluntary closure commencing from Monday 6th April and hoping to return Tuesday 14th April. Subject to health department directives. If you have been considering an appointment NOW is the time to call. 15.01.2022 COVID-19 Precautions At Pilbara Dental Centre, our primary focus has always and will continue to be the welfare of our patients and the Pilbara Community. With the COVID-19 outbreak we are taking extra measures in addition to our usual thorough infection control procedures. ... Every staff member will be temperature checked at the commencement of the day. Every patient will be temperature checked prior to treatment. All common surfaces are cleaned repeatedly throughout the day with hospital grade disinfectant. As usual, all surfaces within the treatment areas are decontaminated after each patient, all instruments are cleaned and sterilised in an autoclave, each cycle is tested, and all instruments are tracked and recorded for each patient. Dental care is still important in these concerning times, our surgery is a small boutique clinic without crowds of people which limits exposure to the masses. We will continue to monitor the advice from relevant authorities and implement recommended changes as they arise. If you have an appointment with us this week, we ask that should you show any symptoms call to reschedule your appointment. We are planning a voluntary closure commencing from Monday 6th April and hoping to return Tuesday 14th April. Subject to health department directives. 14.01.2022 We are so excited!!! The dental profession has now returned to level 1 restrictions, formally as of Monday 11th May 2020 as directed by the Dental Board of Australia. This means, we can now return to providing a variety of high quality dental care, including routine check-up and cleans. During this time, we will continue to practice extra precautions and will not be seeing anyone presenting with flu like symptoms. At this stage our South Hedland Clinic is heavily booked thro...ugh until Mid June so we thank you deeply for your patience and understanding as we move forward into a new normal! 08.01.2022 Dearest Pilbara Dental Centre community, In efforts to combat the COVID-19, dentistry is now officially under LEVEL 3 RESTRICTIONS nationwide. The Australian Health Practice Principle Committee (AHPCC) has recommended this course of action to the Dental Board of Australia and as of Monday the 30th of March it is formally in place. What does this mean?... It means, that dentists can ONLY provide emergency or urgent dental treatment which creates no, or LIMITED aerosols. Aerosols are only allowed if a rubber dam can be used and this is chiefly for stage 1 root canal treatments to relieve pain. This is obviously a terribly difficult situation for our profession from an infection control point of view and being able to provide care easily to our patients. Due to the above we have decided to do a voluntary closure of our clinics from April 3rd for three weeks. We are still screening patients on the phone when making an appointment and at the door. Our triage system is very strict and unfortunately, run of the mill emergency care such as broken teeth are not always deemed as emergency/urgent. Predominately, we are confined to treating acute pain and dental infections. Strictly no routine dental care can take place at this time. We apologise to any patients that we have already had to reschedule. And we also apologise if we have to turn you away due to not meeting the criteria for emergency care. However, please DO CALL us if you think you have an emergency. Our clinics may be closed but Dr AK is standing by and waiting to take the best care of you as usual. This has been a terribly hard time for the community and also our Pilbara Dental Family, having to temporarily stand down some of our beautiful family members, as is the case for many small businesses across the state/nation. We urge you to take heed of the government advice to isolate and minimise social interactions. Let’s not allow all our efforts and sacrifices to be in vain. We also must be patient, yet diligent, in educating people around us as to the importance of hand hygiene, social distancing, staying at home. We are all in this together. 06.01.2022 We're excited to hear that as of Monday 27th of April, parliament has approved legislation that dentistry can go back to Level 2 restrictions. This means, we can provide a wider range of care. Care must be "essential" and our team may have to reschedule you if we cannot provide treatment safely for you, other patients and our staff (for all treatment we must be able to use rubber dam to minimise aerosols). At this stage, we cannot do routine care such as check-ups and cleans ...but it is a step forward. On a positive note, well done everyone for abiding to government directions by staying home and practicing social distancing. It is because of all of our efforts that we are able to lift restrictions.
