04.01.2022 Good morning families Next Tuesday evening (20 October), Pimlico will hold our annual Awards Night at the Townsville Entertainment and Convention Centre. Moving our Awards Night from our usual venue at the Townsville Civic Theatre will ensure that we can still hold this event for our normal audience capacity in a COVID-Safe manner. Tickets are available online from today. There is no cost for the tickets. However, ticketing the event ensures that the school and the venue can ...meet the relevant COVID-Safe event requirements. I encourage families to go online and book their tickets as soon as possible using this link: https://premier.ticketek.com.au//per/ETEC2020908PS/tickets As is normally the case for our Awards Night each year, award recipients will be involved in a rehearsal at the venue during the day of our Awards Night. Students receiving awards have already received notification and information about both the rehearsal and the evening itself. We will be holding a short ceremony immediately prior to the normal Awards Night to recognise our graduating Year 12 students. This will ensure that parents and family members who are not able to attend our Year 12 Formal this year are still able to see our 2020 Seniors formally acknowledged and recognised. Year 12 families only need to purchase one ticket for both the special Year 12 Acknowledgement and the normal Awards Night ceremony. At the end of the Year 12 Acknowledgement, Year 12 families can depart or stay on for the rest of our Awards Night. The Year 12 Acknowledgement will commence at 6.00pm and will be concluded by as close to 7.00pm as possible. Our main Awards Night ceremony will then commence at 7.30pm. With our students and audience spread out, no curtains and no live performances, our Awards Night will certainly look a little different from normal. It will, however, still be a wonderful opportunity to come together as a school community at the end of a difficult and challenging year. I am looking forward to being able to celebrate the remarkable and diverse achievements of our students and to share an initial taste of the fantastic performances from our Pimlico by the Sea production. Kind regards Joel Buchholz Executive Principal

03.01.2022 YEAR 9 BUSINESS STUDENTS Each year the year 9 Business students participate in a their very own business venture. This means, late in term 3, teams are given $50 to purchase products. The intention is to make a profit by selling items which they think would appeal to PSHS students and staff. ... Any profits made are given to a student chosen charity. This year, One of our students asked if we could donate to Transplant Australia. This was agreed by the two classes but unbeknown to us, we had a charity with a close connection - one of our own was a transplant recipient. Unfortunately, not all went to plan this year. Our micro businesses were the victims of international trading issues and warf stoppages which resulted in many items not arriving on time for sale. However, we persevered by utilising and upselling previous year's items and pushed what we had. Even though sales were slow because of COVD19, we managed to raise $100 profit for Transplant Australia.
