11.01.2022 Just a reminder about the great Soul Revival Retreat being planned for September this year at Pinctada McAlpine House. Some of you may remember Fiona Galloway..., who was a former resident of Broome (2005 - 2012). She was a regular teacher at both the Broome Yoga School, and later on at The Loft. After migrating South in 2012, she has since returned to share a series of workshops, but this special retreat will be her first visit in nearly 3 years. She cant wait to return to red dirt & big sky country, and reconnect with the special community of Broome that will always be close to her heart. Fiona began her yoga journey in 1999 with the Sivananda Vedanta Yoga Organization in the Bahamas and Canada. After completing her Hatha Yoga teacher training in Quebec, her travels have seen her sharing yoga on the Sunshine Coast QLD, Broome WA, regional WA, Indonesia, and now Perth. She has been influenced by many inspiring teachers along the way, and has been an ongoing student of Victor Chng (Yin Yoga in Asia) since 2009. Though a hatha teacher for 14 years, Fiona now focusses primarily on teaching Yin yoga. This change of focus arose after being hit by Ross River Virus back in 2011 (a year many Broome residents will remember!) after which she turned to Yin Yoga for support and healing. Due to physical impacts of the virus, it was the only yoga she could continue to practice for some time. How she literally moved through life had changed quite dramatically - but, there is always a silver lining Immersion in the practice welcomed amazing changes to her body and mind, as did greater learning about TCM, food as medicine and embracing the nature-aligning Taoist views on life. She now feels honoured to be able to share even a snippet of that understanding and experience with her students. Fiona is now based in Fremantle and shares weekly classes, seasonal workshops and ocean-play retreats (Indonesia and Sri Lanka). With a background in marine conservation/management and outdoor education, many of her Yoga Blu retreats support grassroots marine conservation and/or environmental education projects through donation or people power. She aspires to guide others towards creating positive transformations through not only reconnecting with their own true nature, but how they relate to the natural world around them. 09.01.2022 Have you heard about the Nagula Jarndu Womens Resource Centre in Broome? Nagoya Jarndu means Saltwater Woman in Yawuru. A guest brought back the most beautiful piece of fabric yesterday after visiting their tiny gallery located on the corner of Pembroke and Gregory Street, not too far from us here. It is a cooperative of indigenous women artists who are exploring textile development using a variety of printing techniques. The colours and designs reflect the landscape of Broome and the season. The designs and colours are so varied and beautiful - a superb memento of your time in Broome. Dont forget to put it on your list of "must see" when you visit.

08.01.2022 We have had a busy few weeks here and the dry season is settling in, although the overnight temperature has not yet dropped to frost levels. We are now serving dinner in house generally on Thursdays and Saturdays most weeks. Let us know if you are interested. We focus on excellent local produce such as pearl meat, thread fin salmon, Kimberley ribs or WA lamb.
