23.01.2022 Annual General Meeting at Chermside Library Friday 28 May 2021 6.30pm for 7pm start We are looking for volunteers to continue with the successful running of our great club for the upcoming 2021-22 season.... In alignment with our constitution and current vacancies, the following Management Committee positions are open for election: 1. President 2. Secretary 3. Treasurer 4. Sports Operations Various General Committee positions are also open for election. 21.01.2022 Pine Hills Lightning Baseball Club have been lucky to secure a fundraising BBQ at Bunnings, Keperra on Saturday 28th November. As this is one of the club’s major fundraising activities, the club is looking for as many volunteers as possible to assist - 2hrs is all that is required (or more if you are available). Unfortunately, due to strict conditions set by Bunnings, only people over the age of 18 are able to be in the BBQ area helping. Div 4 11-8 Win over Carina Red Sox Div 2 12 - 3 over Padres Div 1 Friday Night 9 -0 over Padres Red/Grey Div 1 Sunday 5-2 over Padres Red/Grey Sunday's games were moved from Padres to James Drysdale Reserve at the last minute due to overnight rain at Padres making the fields unplayable. The move meant the Mutch Family Field saw its first Sunday seniors game with Div 2 playing on the field. All players enjoyed playing on the new field. Adam along with his assistant Michael Lovell did a great job with their Little league Hurricanes team throughout the season. Adam couldn't attend the presentation night so we arranged a pre-presentation award.

10.01.2022 ** Around the grounds ** PH JL Div 1 Topples Padres White 10-6 The Pine Hills JL Div 1 side traveled to Redcliffe Saturday morning for the first of two regular season matchups against Padres White. A hard-played game saw the Lightning come away with a convincing 10-6 win. Nathan led the team, going 4-4 at the plate and leading the nine-hit PH attack. Strong defence and dominant pitching led the way for the visitors with Matt going 3 1/3 innings and striking out 7 and Alex clo...sing out the game with two strong innings of relief. Fielding highlights on the day included Cooper shutting down the Padres running game early throwing out the first baserunner of the game and pitcher Caleb making a really nice barehanded play to throw out a speedy runner at first in a crucial spot. Other highlights included Jacob’s first triple of the season and Cooper reaching base four times and contributing some big at-bats. As always, Redcliffe deserves a hat tip for their gritty, never-say-die attitude. Looking forward to seeing both Padres White and Red throughout the season and hopefully in the playoffs. it's always good baseball. Coach Jim

06.01.2022 Congratulations Paul Hughson for being awarded life membership as a result of his long and outstanding 15 years of meritorious service to the sport of baseball through his volunteer membership with Pine Hills Lightning Baseball Club. Paul has been involved in our club since his son Mitch started playing Teeball in 2005. Paul has been a committed master’s player for many years but his long-term volunteer meritorious service of coaching (even when no family member was in the t...eam), groundsman and general handyman of our club has demonstrated Paul is well deserved of this nomination. Paul has contributed in a variety of roles over the years and is considered by members to be a valued jack of all trades. Paul has been a carpenter - building the seating in our home dugout, batting helmet racks and bat holders in both dugouts, seating in the umpire’s room, door frames in new canteen storage and building the lean too structure behind home dugout. Paul has been a gyprocker plastering new sections of amenities block. Paul has been a project manager at many working bees organising and erecting shade sails on the hockey fields, fencing and dismantling netting in the batting cages. Paul has been an air-conditioner fitter keeping our scorers on the main diamond cool. Paul has been a builder making screens with wheels for use on field and batting cages, upgraded the screens with heavy grade netting and paddings and made tarps for the mound and home plate. And, Paul has been an impeccable horticulturalist and landscaper maintaining our manicured infield and more recently has taken up mowing, line-marking for many seasons and contributing to erection of the terracing in front of the amenities block. Paul’s devotion to our club has seen him spending many many tireless hours breaking up clay bricks to repair the pitching mound and home plate. Any day of the week, you will more than likely find Paul has been at the field, repairing, maintaining or building something. Paul is a person of good character with a recognised long-term commitment to the club, even in years when his son played in American college ball. Paul is the quiet achiever, always giving the club his time and commitment without seeking rewards or recognition. Paul is a very deserved recipient of life membership with Pine Hills Lightning Baseball club and the Management Committee unanimously deemed Paul suitable and warranted for election at the AGM.
