25.01.2022 These little guys are an important part of our environment too.

25.01.2022 One of Friday's feeds...bub is getting fish up to 5 times a day. No wonder it is growing bigger!

24.01.2022 Two more dead koalas in our area overnight. Gympie Rd at Paisley Dr Lawnton again... Narangba Rd Kallangur again... ... The recurring theme is that most koala hits are on the same roads. Please slow down. Its breeding season and koalas are on the move. We are available 24/7 Phone: 0401 350 799

24.01.2022 If you have seen a koala, we want to know. Message our 24 hr rescue line (0401 350 799) with your name, a pic of koala and location #prkcai #koala #sighting #wecareforwildlife #pineriverskoalarescue

23.01.2022 Be amazed as you watch this tiny wallaby grow up before your eyes

22.01.2022 Some of our healthy sightings from the last few days - all in Strathpine. Two of these guys are past rescues. It's so good to see them living their best lives many months later!

22.01.2022 Did you know that Koalas sleep around 20 hours a day?? Eucalyptus leaves are toxic and although high in nutrients, are low in energy sources. Koalas sleep a lot to conserve energy.

20.01.2022 Yesterdays rescue was Kumar. If you think his name sounds familiar, its because he was spotted in the area just a week ago! We suspect Kumar has been in a fight with a larger male who was in a nearby tree, and hes run out onto the road and been hit by a car. He was found sitting in the middle of Samsonvale Rd at 4:30am, and allowed the caller to pat him. [not a good sign] After a couple of minutes he moved up into a tree where we retrieved him a few hours later. ... Kumar is currently at the RSPCA receiving treatment. He had internal bleeding on his lungs and in his abdomen, so they are keeping him comfortable and watching him closely. Good luck little Kumar. Thank you to Kerry for calling and following up with an email so we were able to locate him and get him to hospital. Call us anytime on 0401 350 799 @ Strathpine, Queensland

19.01.2022 Watch how the bub flattens out and lies still when it thinks there is danger close by. It mistakenly thinks the osprey flying off is a danger and flattens. This is behaviour learned very early on without overt teaching by the parents.

18.01.2022 Thinking of something to do during the Covid restriction period. An opportunity exists to a walk around in the open air at the 2.75 hectare public asset within ...the Gold Market Reserve, total of 10 hectare, taking in the fresh air, participating in bird watching activities, doing a spot of photography, or just exercising and de-stressing in the peaceful setting of Black Swan Lake Bundall Gold Coast. #NaturallyGC2020 See more

18.01.2022 Today’s cuteness .. Pete from Joyner.

17.01.2022 A couple of our Pine Rivers boys captured (on film only!) by our rescuer John over the last week or so. First up is Durham, who is a Bray Park regular. And secondly is Kumar, who often calls the Pine Rivers Soccer Club home. Call us 24/7 on 0401 350 799

17.01.2022 Today marks the start of Save The Koala Month, a month dedicated to raising awareness of the decline of koalas Aussie Ark are currently working on building KO...ALA ARK. The first WILD koala sanctuary! This project will create a safe haven preventing extinction should the pattern of decline continue. For more information and how to donate: https://www.aussieark.org.au/koala-ark/

16.01.2022 If you would like to help us by transporting cuties like Pete to the wildlife hospital after rescues, please email [email protected] We’re looking for people who live anywhere from Eatons Hill through to Redcliffe, to Petrie/Whiteside & can spare the time to drive for us. This is such a rewarding job and we do pay km reimbursement too!

16.01.2022 Massive, massive thank you to Adam from Star Manufacturing at Lawnton & Scott from Aussie Fitouts at Brendale for the making & donation of our new koala halos! We use these to rescue koalas from trees when they are injured or ill. Thank you so much Adam & Scott and also to Christine West from Rotary for organising it all.

15.01.2022 We get a lot of calls for baby birds out of nests. Here is a great guide to identifying those who need help, and those that are getting ready to soar!

15.01.2022 It's hard work being a koala.

15.01.2022 So beautiful @owlcaholic_ - both the words and the picture #nationalthreatenedspeciesday Posted @withregram @owlcaholic_ I was going to post an Austral...ian Masked Owl for today being Threatened Species Day, but as an Aussie, not posting one these little guys today didn't feel right. . Koalas are vulnerable to extinction, with numerous factors attributing to their decline. Their size sees them with few predators, with a couple of exceptions (Dingos, large pythons and Powerful Owls), however widespread hunting at the turn of the century, habitat destruction, the terrible bushfires and their chlamydia issues are quickly bringing their population down. . I see these guys every time without fail I go look for owls locally. I always sit and watch them a bit, and it's truly wonderful to be able to just look up and there they are. I positively dread the day that I look up and they're just not there though sadly, I don't think it's far off. If you've got kids, take them Koala spotting. See how many they can find. Give them a reason to protect what's around them. See more

15.01.2022 Platypus do reside in our local creeks, but normally are reclusive and difficult to spot. However, for a couple of days this week, a platypus inhabiting Ric Na...ttrass Creek, at Wau Road Darra, attracted the enthusiastic attention of local residents! It went about its business of foraging oblivious of the appreciative human audience. Thank you to Tracey Walker for providing these videos and photos of the platypus and other wildlife that rely upon our local waterway habitat. The second video shows a female eastern grey kangaroo, with joey in pouch, drinking at the creek's edge while a white-faced heron is a study in still life in the background. 15.01.2022 A few recent sightings from Joyner, Bray Park and Lawnton. Call us anytime on 0401 350 799

14.01.2022 Its heartbreaking for rescuers when they are called to a mum and bub as gorgeous as this pair and then they look at the habitat theyve been left to somehow survive in. Main road on one side, massive development on the other. These were literally the only trees left. What ever happened to the Old Pine Rivers?

14.01.2022 This gorgeous girl found herself on the wrong side of the koala exclusion fencing on Youngs Crossing Rd tonight. Thanks to a vigilant driver spotting her on the road, our rescuer was on the scene quickly to help her out of danger. Our rescuers are available 24/7 on ... 0401350799 See more

14.01.2022 There are mixed emotions as we write this. Relief and sadness. Some of you may remember the koala from Lawnton that we nicknamed Gilly. He has been evading capture for almost 2 months. After lots of searching, community involvement and some expert rescuing, he has been caught tonight and is now on his way to Australia Zoo Wildlife Warriors. Thank you to the staff at the Pinewood Aged Care Centre for messaging us this morning to report 3 koalas in the same tree. When we ar...rived, we just saw a mum and baby and left it at that, but after doubting ourselves, we went back for another look, and sure enough there was a 3rd koala, and it was Gilly. Youve been hard to catch old man, but we wish you the best of luck precious boy. This is a good example of why we like to health check and record all sightings. Call us any time on 0401 350 799 @ Lawnton, Queensland, Australia

13.01.2022 We have the cutest joeys ever! If you spot a koala please call us on 0401 350 799 so that we can do a health check.

11.01.2022 Yummy! The sweetest little sugar glider weve ever seen Sugar gliders earned their name from their love of eating nectar and flowers but they eat insects to...o. These sweet gliding possums occur in every state and territory of Australia, largely confined to coastal areas. IG: @owlcaholic_ #sugarglider #gloriousgliders #gliders #wildlife Posted @withregram @owlcaholic_ Glider tongue! Sugar Gliders (Petaurus Breviceps) like this one are seasonal omnivores, with their diet varying based on the time of year. When we observed him here he''s eating sap, typical of winter when insects and other arthropods are scarce! Super cute!

09.01.2022 Quokkas love to smile. Don't you just love them?

06.01.2022 Trees for koalas! Last month our dedicated habitat team, who were downsized at the last minute due to COVID restrictions, managed to pull together to plant an additional 700 trees on Rob Akers Reserve. This planting was made possible by a Communities Environment Program grant from the federal government (known affectionately within our group as The Peter Dutton Grant) Once COVID restrictions on gatherings are behind us, we will put on a community event to showcase the work... our group has done, and perhaps give a koala spotting tour! Big thanks to everyone involved - our team, Moreton Bay Regional Council and of course @peterduttonmp. Watch this space! @ Rob Akers Reserve Strathpine

06.01.2022 One of our koala rescuers attended his first dead body today. The little female koala had tried to cross the Bruce Highway underneath the Anzac Ave overpass just before North Lakes. She was hit multiple times. She never stood a chance. Both rescue groups in the region operate 24 hours, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. They are all volunteers. We have now had close to 40 car hits this season. Very few have survived. Slow down out there. Thank you to our wonderful rescuers who work such long hours and see so many things theyd rather forget. For every 5 sad stories, theres one good one. Those koalas (and all the future babies they will make!) have you to thank for saving their lives

06.01.2022 An important part of growing up in the raptor world is wing stretching and flapping...bub is becoming proficient in both.

05.01.2022 Its been fantastic to have had several joint rescues with Moreton Bay Koala Rescue in the last week. Together we really can work to save our local koalas. Our rescuers are available 24/7 on 0401 350 799.

05.01.2022 #sleepingbeauty This is our mascot Durham. We call him our mascot because he hangs around our storage container quite a lot, so we see him all the time. We like to think its because he feels safe there. As you can see, hes a little battle scarred and past his prime, but we love him here at PRKC.

05.01.2022 A good news story to start the weekend! This fine looking gentleman is Russell. One of our fabulous volunteer rescuers is an ecologist and she spotted Russell on her work site in Morayfield back in July, looking a bit worse for wear. He was quickly rescued and transported to Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital to be treated for cystitis and conjunctivitis. ... Almost 8 weeks later and Russell has been given the all clear and was released this morning. Thank you to @wildlifewarriorsworldwide for giving Russell a second chance to live his best life! @ Morayfield, Queensland, Australia
