12.01.2022 Do you make your own compost at home? Pinjarra Conmunity Garden has been taking and processing organic waste ( fruit, veg scraps) from local café Jarra Infusion and school for composting. Thanks to the Waste Authority of Western Australia for the grant we were able to increase our capacity by processing the food into smaller chunks. And this is how we do it ... ~ Nationally, more than 5 million tonnes of food ends up in landfill, the equivalent to 9000 Olympic pools. Food waste makes up about 30 per cent of a household's bin and up to 90 per cent of the waste generated by commercial food businesses.

Come down and check out all the growth that has been happening. ... Look forward to seeing you on the 20th. See more

09.01.2022 Closed borders. Biosecurity. Always contentious. I just spotted this photo on a US gardening site. It's a fungal disease called 'Corn Smut' - which is one o...f the reasons that corn seed is so difficult to get hold of in WA; we're trying to keep this disease out. So please - do the right thing. Don't try to bring in plant material. Listen to the experts that are trying to protect industries and livelihoods in our state. Stay safe, WA (and wash your hands!!) See more

08.01.2022 Some more photos from last nights bonfire courtesy of Bev. The lighting on the building makes a great backdrop.

02.01.2022 A massive thank you to Gerard English and his Alcoa team for a fantastic effort today. They turned a pile of mulch into a well covered area around our building which should be weed free for a while to come and moved a pile of fill to level off the areas for water tanks in the future. You were great to work with and looking forward to seeing you all here again.
