10.01.2022 The weather was fantastic, and the company was better. Pinjarra held their BPL Cup Qualifyer today and was battled out with 6 local teams and one team each from Dudley Park and Mandurah. Both sections of 4 teams were closely fought with, on one side, team Grayson who scraped in by a half a set point margin, and team Rogers winning the other section by one set point. Those two teams battled it out for the spot in the Regional Final, and one step closer to the State Playoff. Th...e first set of 5 ends was won by team Rogers, and held sway in the second until Team Grayson, aided by the power play in the last end, forced the game into a one end tiebreak. Alan Krautil, the lead for team Grayson, sat one close with his first bowl. Margaret Steele replied with a good one but just missed the Jack. Krautil followed up his first bowl perfectly sitting in a great spot 2 feet behind in a great catching spot. Steele went for the conversion and played it brilliantly, only to see the Jack squirt straight onto Krautil's catcher. Phyll Morrison missed with two bowls, and Les Pye drew a second shot for Team Grayson., While Grayson has subbed himself out for the final end. With Team Grayson holding game, and 2 shots, Big Bill Rogers stepped on the mat for the final bowl of the day. Under extreme pressure, took out the shot bowl and dragged the jack back for 3 and the win. A great win, a great day and a great format. Dare I say it?????? The winner was Bowls. Well done and Good luck to the winning combination of Phyllis Morrison, Bill Rogers and Margaret Steele.
