23.01.2022 Yet another of the supporting clubs from 2020 have stepped forward to again offer a scholarship at their club in 2021 bringing the total number of scholarships now available in Australia and overseas to 27!!!! Sincere thanks to Instructor John at JUNEE Taekwondo - South East Australian TKD who has been a passionate advocate for the project and an absolute treasure. Given these very tough economic times and the enormous blow that many martial arts clubs have taken this year, it is simply mind-blowing to achieve this level of support and is an active demonstration of the martial way.

19.01.2022 Happy Wednesday!

18.01.2022 Wonderful to have a stellar organisation like this helping spread the word and ensure we help as many women as possible in 2021.

18.01.2022 Supporting clubs! A Promotion Kit has just been emailed to you. Please shout if you don’t see it!

17.01.2022 Pink Belt Project is now an Incorporated Association! It means this is growing. It also means, to keep growing, I need help from skilled volunteers committed to providing a leg-up during this next phase of development! Most pressing right now is a new Board Member familiar with writing agendas and taking minutes, ideally with experience of committees. I need someone who can commit to this task for four meetings over the next 12 months. A small but important job. Besides ...something you could add to your resume, being a founding member of the new Pink Belt Project Inc Board will provide deep satisfaction in knowing you are helping connect more women in need to the benefits of martial arts. If this sounds like something that would spark joy for you, please message the page with a few details of your experience.

16.01.2022 Hear from a 2020 Pink Belt Scholarship recipient on her experience of starting Taekwondo for the first time. If you know someone who could benefit in 2021, share this with them. https://www.facebook.com//a.596292634223/962232664295662/

15.01.2022 It might be hard to imagine that an Olympic Gold Medallist could have so much valuable wisdom to share that can be applied to helping all of us living a more everyday existence. But Lauren Burns overflows with it. Honour her achievement and contribution to Australian sporting history today by giving this a listen. You’ll be so glad you did. And stay tuned for a very special Pink Belt event coming soon with Lauren.

14.01.2022 A great follow-up to yesterday’s post about the amazing community you find within martial arts. Also: Invaluable advice from our Olympians.

14.01.2022 COMMUNITY It's one of the important elements that makes martial arts training such a powerful tool for empowering women. The benefits extend far beyond just learning self defence. And that community of empowered women you will so often find at your local martial arts club is illustrated perfectly in this newspaper article about a recent women's only karate seminar in Western Australia. #pinkbelt #SistasInMartialArts #powertoempower

12.01.2022 Excited to receive an email today from a 2021 Pink Belt Scholarship Recipient who attended her very first Taekwondo class yesterday! This lady has been through A LOT, so this is HUGE!!! She said her female instructor was so kind, patient and passionate. And she’s so EXCITED for this new beginning. She’s even going to enrol her daughter so they can learn self defence together.

12.01.2022 Taekwondo's two most prestigious medal wins in Australia have been by women AND both women are big supporters of Pink Belt Project. Lauren Burns and Carmen Marton so grateful to have you in the Pink Belt corner along with 2018 Commonwealth Champion Kate McAdam ! "Personally I feel women have always been strong in martial arts and taekwondo, we always bring home medals. Our two most prestigious medals are held by women, my gold and Carmen Marton's world title in 2013." "Heather (former Matilda Heather Garriock) is the second female CEO of Australian Taekwondo. I am proud of being involved in a sport which has a strong history of women being involved."

10.01.2022 In martial arts we celebrate progress, not perfection.

04.01.2022 Do you know a young woman aged 13 to 17 who could benefit from the empowerment of Taekwondo? ‘Grace’s Pink Belt Scholarship’ seeks to help a young woman who has a neurological disability or disease OR her family could not otherwise afford for her to participate in martial arts training. You might remember, Grace contacted Pink Belt Project Founder Kristy Hitchens a few months back to say she had decided to raise money for Pink Belt Project because Taekwondo has helped her... so much in dealing with her own horrific neurological disease! She understands more than anyone, what Taekwondo and training in the traditional martial arts can add to your life. Grace has Autism and Functional Neurological Disorder which results in severe and ongoing seizures with associated memory loss and other neurological impacts. She and her mum Jo are currently in Sydney so that Grace can receive the best treatment currently available in Australia for her condition. As a result she has moved from her club Taekwondo Oh Do Kwan Byford Armadale Serpentine in WA (Byford - Master Neil Brickwood) and is keeping up her training with Musa Taekwondo Academy in Sydney. Mum Jo says Grace benefits enormously not just physically but socially and emotionally through her training. With birthday money and the support of her Taekwondo community, friends and family, Grace has raised enough to cover a full scholarship worth $2,000. Awe inspiring. To enquire about applying for Grace’s Pink Belt Scholarship, message the page or email [email protected]

03.01.2022 #MartialArtsForGood: Just a perfect example of how martial arts empowers women who then go on to help empower other women. Kathryn Winnick (aka Lagertha from Vikings) earned her first Black Belt in Taekwondo age 13. Now as well as being an accomplished actor, she runs a self defence school AND has taken to advocating for the advancement of more women in the film industry. https://www.nickiswift.com//katheryn-winnicks-little-know/

01.01.2022 Two more clubs on board for 2021 and another from the US!! Thank you doesn't seem enough. Both instructors from these clubs stood behind Pink Belt in 2020 but despite big efforts, were unable to identify candidates to take up the generous scholarship opportunities they were offering. Finding the right one is not always easy and spreading the word about the incredible healing power of martial arts is something Pink Belt continues to work on. So welcome back for 2021 to:... AITA - Australian Independent Taekwon-Do Academy - various locations Central Coast, NSW Martial Arts of West End - Henrico, Virginia, USA (That's the second 2021 club from outside Australia!
