19.01.2022 #GEM Today we introduce the GEM’s "Cairo Light Court", featuring a three-dimensional glass pyramid that allows sun-light to enter into the main exhibition gall...ery. This glass pyramid divides the GEM's main gallery into two parts and is linked by an enclosed and suspended glass tunnel, which allows the visitor to complete their journey inside GEM’s main exhibition hall. This tunnel takes its inspiration from the tunnels used by the ancient workmen in construction of the pyramids. Visitors can enjoy this tunnel, illuminated by the rays of the sun, linking Egypt’s historical civilisation to the present day. A wonderful view of the GEM from this distinctive panorama will be one of the highlights of a visit to the GEM. ___________________________________________ : " " ( Cairo Light Court ) ( ) .

08.01.2022 RAMSES I’S TOMB IS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC FOLLOWING RESTORATION Ramses I - founder of the 19th Dynasty of Ancient Egypt, whose grandson, Ramses II, led an imperial ...campaign that cemented him as the most powerful pharaoh of the New Kingdom. Although his reign was brief, Ramses I has been immortalized through his legacy, and his tomb in Luxor is but a part of it. Almost two centuries since it's been found, the tomb of Ramses I underwent months of restoration work between repairs of the floor, clean-up of the walls, and the removal of soot - and is now prepared to reopen to the public. Discovered in 1817 by archaeologist Giovanni Belzoni, the 29-metre long structure ends with a burial chamber that contains Ramses I's open pink-granite sarcophagus. While his mummy is actually placed in the Luxor Museum, the tomb itself is a treasure to behold, with striking scenes from the Book of Gates engraved on its walls, as well as a mural of the pharaoh kneeling between the falcon-headed 'Soul of Pe' and the jackal-headed 'Soul of Nekhen', which symbolizes his union of Lower and Upper Egypt.
