14.01.2022 #Pupdate Applications Closed NSW - Sydney Dave - Hearing but sight impaired... Please read to the end. Now that all the legal action is complete we can finally tell you Dave’s full story. We’re sharing his story with you not so that you will donate money (although that would be welcome) but in a hope that Dave can finally find his forever home and live the life that he deserves. Buckle yourselves in. This is a long story. The Ranger in Dave’s area reached out to us in March 2020 desperately asking for our help. Dave had come in to their care and his former owner had been charged with animal abuse. He has since been found guilty, sentenced and fined. The Ranger wanted to get Dave to a safe place and knew that DDRA would spare no expense to make him whole again. You see, this disgrace of a human being had beaten Dave so badly that his right eye had to be removed and his ears stitched back together. Dave will permanently bear the physical scars on his face and his ears where he was beaten aggressively with something we can only guess at. We put out a call for help to transport Dave and his cellmate at the pound, Mick, to Head Office. Amazing people, whom we now consider to be part of the DDRA family, tag teamed to get them to safety (don’t worry, we won’t name you ). Since then Dave has had more vet work including after care, neuter and vaccinations. He stayed with a foster carer for several weeks to decompress, has been the star of a Sydney University film project and in May he was moved to a behaviourist trainer who specialises in rehabilitation of traumatised dogs. He’s been there for nearly two months undergoing rehabilitation and intensive training. We have spared no expense for Dave and his care costs are currently north of $5,000 Despite the abuse Dave experienced at the hands of his former owner he is now a happy, trusting and well balanced boy. He’s learned that humans are his protectors and loves playing with other dogs. Dave is exceptionally trained in obedience. His trainer and DRAA offer ongoing support too. A whistle and he will come running. A finger click and he sits. All Dave asks in return is love. He deserves the most fantastic of people to offer him a forever home and we hope that this post will help us find that person. So, why do we tell you Dave’s story? * So that you understand the lengths we will go to to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome a deaf or special needs dog; * So that you understand how much we appreciate every dollar you donate; * So that you understand why we have such strict adoption criteria; and * Most importantly TO FIND DAVE’S FOREVER HOME. Dave’s Wishlist * Deserves to be the only dog in your life but will consider one well trained fursibling; * To hang out with you and bask in your adoration; * Someone who will keep up with his training so Sydney applicants are encouraged. No interstate adoptions due to COVID19 restrictions; * To be an inside/outside dog; * Loves kids but due to his size only older human siblings will be considered. Please click the Send Message button at the top of our page for more information about Dave or you can complete the adoption application form below. 12.01.2022 Hi, my name is Scout and I am looking for a new loving home. Can you help me? I am only 1 year old and I am very friendly. Although I have never met a cat, so I don’t know how I would feel about one... I am deaf and because of this I do become a little anxious when left alone, but when I am inside I am happy and settled.... Training will help me overcome this. And I come with free training to help! If you think I would suit your family, please contact Pink Paw Program on 0403305945 to find out more. Woof

06.01.2022 BREAKING NEWS: These babes, and a whole gaggle of other puppies are now available for adoption! {insert heart eye emoji} Ready to make a lifetime commitmen...t to a puppy? READ THIS! To ADOPT: 1.Go to hihs.org/adoption 2. Read about adoptions during COVID-19 3. Submit an application for the *specific* puppy you are interested in. *Please note: We are committed to finding the best match for our animals. Due to the high volume of applications we receive, especially for puppies, we are only able to respond to applicants that are a good fit. TRAINING AND SOCIALIZATION: Puppies require time, patience, and commitment to help them grow into happy, healthy adult dogs. To give the full commitment that puppies need, we highly encourage adopters to only consider adopting 1 puppy, instead of 2 of the same age or from the same litter. While it may seem cute, and even easier, to adopt 2 puppies at the same time, research shows that it’s not a good idea. Littermate Syndrome can occur when 2 puppies are raised together. Their deep bond can impede their ability to properly socialize with humans and other dogs during this critical developmental period which can lead to behavioral issues as adult dogs, including reactivity and aggression. We highly encourage adopters to consider adopting one puppy and pursuing force free, science-based training for their puppy to help their puppy become a happy, well socialized family member that won’t end up back at our shelter. To find a trainer on island, visit fearfreepets.com or apdt.com. Many trainers are offering online classes during the COVID-19 crisis. #adoptapuppy #adoptashelterpuppy #shelterpuppy #puppies #puppy #puppiesmakemehappy #puppylove #fosteringsaveslives #fosterpuppy #fosterpuppies #spayandneuteryourpets : Alyssa Tabert
05.01.2022 The Five Principles We are forgetful. We have forgotten how noble our culture and values are. Today as we celebrate the independence of Indonesia we should reme...mber the core ideology of our nation - the principles of Pancasila. Based on Pancasila, we were taught to have mutual cooperation, mutual assistance, friendliness, politeness, tolerance, and caring for others. But look at us now. We are forgetful, aren't we? For example, we have forgotten that there was a time when our mother, just like her mother before her would use leaves to package our food. Now our food comes wrapped in plastic and we buy it and bring it home in a plastic bag and eat it while drinking from a plastic bottle. Don't get me wrong. I am happy to be able to call my mom using my mobile phone, and it is a pleasure to ride my motorbike to the beach and look at the sunrise over a beautiful ocean. I am amazed that we were able to go all the way to the moon and back. Plastic plays an important part in making all of these things possible. Plastic is not at fault. It is we who are at fault. We do not mutually collaborate and most of us have stopped caring about each other, about our culture, about nature. Most of us only focus on one thing - ourselves. Oh, aren’t we special! We forgot, or perhaps we have never learned, that plastic is a part of the technology of society and when we use that technology in our daily lives, there needs to be a procedure for how to deal with it. In the case of plastic, we need to know how dispose of it properly, we need to know how to reuse it. But we special people think we know everything, when in fact we know almost nothing - because the result of our actions has been the mountain of plastic trash that has come between us and nature, and between you and me. It is time that we remembered our original identity. Maybe mothers can start to wrap their children’s food in leaves again. But on a larger scale, it is certainly time for us to reflect on what we have been doing and let's improve, let's make things better and healthier by educating each other, managing the systems, and let's clean up the mess that we have created. We can do it together. Lima Prinsip Kita pelupa.
