24.01.2022 Ive had the most wonderful 3 days exploring the South and visiting some gorgeous shops. We shop owners tend to take the same days off so some of my favourites were closed but Lafayette and Walker&Walker in Richmond, The Dusty Mermaid in Geeveston, Lady Strange in New Norfolk, Elm Cottage in Oatlands and the Sorell Antique Centre were all open so I managed to find plenty of treasures, new and old, for my home. I also found lots of preloved goodies for Pink Poodle Vintage which Ill be putting out over the next few days. Pop in for a look. 23.01.2022 Remember my Longford Blooms weekend earlier this month? Well, I treated myself to an overnight stay at the Red Feather Inn at Hadspen. I'd booked The Attic Suite which, as you can see here, was absolutely gorgeous. Up a steep winding staircase, it was a perfect retreat for this weary sole traveller. Gustavian style red and white decor with painted timber floors, French style furniture and a lovely big bath, it was a delight. It inspired me to do a similar style room at home (pics coming soon!). 23.01.2022 Im getting sick of George Towns attitude towards my business. Today I discovered that Id been left out of the Why Leave Town promotion. No one has spoken to me about it. Excuses? Apparently I dont have EFTPOS ( yes I do, since day 1) and Im never open (Pink Poodle has been open Thursday to Sunday over winter). Excluding someone is a form of bullying. I know Im a bit different but being on the autism spectrum doesnt mean I dont have feelings. Maybe they need lessons in inclusiveness. It was RU OK Day and I wasnt feeling okay so I spent the day at home cuddled up with my dogs. For those who dont know, RUOK Day highlights issues around mental health, depression and suicide. Anyway, after the bullying thats gone on in the past week, I was struggling a bit so decided to take the day off. Bullying is a major cause of suicides and is definitely not OK. 09.01.2022 As you know, Pink Poodle Vintage was not contacted to be part of the Why Leave Town scheme until I started asking questions in Friday. Well, I spent the weekend doing some research and Im glad Im not part of it. A NSW company, Why Leave Town Promotions, was paid to administer the scheme. They own the scheme. Its run from NSW. So, that $20,000+ went to a private company based in NSW. The Council and Chamber of Commerce want us to Shop Local but they spend their money in NSW.... A bit hypocritical. I am wondering why a NSW company was given the contract. Anyway, get online and check out Why Leave Town for yourself. Their website is very vague on details and costs and gives very little information on the company itself. The majority of towns involved in Why Leave Town schemes are in NSW. Incidentally, Ive spoken to 2 other Macquarie Street businesses who also werent told anything about the scheme at the same time all the other businesses were told (which was about 6 weeks ago). Id be interested in speaking to any others who werent told. Anyway, I refuse to support something that isnt inclusive and isnt based in Tasmania. 09.01.2022 Were so lucky to have a local cinema that shows foreign, independent and arthouse films. When I was living in country Queensland, I had to drive up to 4 hours to see a French film so the 40 minutes it takes me to get from George Town to the Star Theatre at Invermay is a breeze. I usually make my weekly visit an event by staying for dinner and/or coffee. P.S. The Stars choc tops are THE BEST.

02.01.2022 I love finding a little bit of France in Tassie! This is the Croque Monsieur at the Green Door Cafe Restaurant in Westbury. I popped in for lunch last week and was so impressed I went back yesterday. Its the very first time Ive photographed food and I was hungry so my pic hasnt done it justice but it was so yummy and such good value ($14:50) I had to share it. Im a very fussy eater and definitely not a salad person but I ate everything on that plate. Both times.
