10.01.2022 Due to COVID-19 precautions, Teledermatology consultations will commence from this week, Monday 30th March. If you have an appointment in the near future, our staff will be in contact with you soon. Q: I’ve been offered a video or phone consultation. How does it work and how do I get the most out of it? A: As part of the health system response to the COVID-19 outbreak, you will be offered a consultation with your dermatologist or clinical nurse by phone or video known as te...lehealth instead of face to face. This is an important step to protecting your health and that of your health care team, while enabling you to continue to receive medical care and advice from the comfort and safety of your own home. For more information on what to expect see: https://www.dermcoll.edu.au//COVID-19_Dermatology-and-tele Q: Why haven’t I been offered the option of video or phone consultation? A: It is important to note that telehealth may not be appropriate for the management of all dermatological conditions and a face-to-face consultation may still be needed. The practice will discuss this with you and whether a face-to-face consultation needs to take place or can be postponed to a later date. If you do need to attend for a face-to-face consultation, the practice will advise what you will need to do and what precautions we are putting in place to minimise any risk of infection. If you have any further questions, please call reception on 63987733. However please understand there may be a delay or we may need to call you back as there has been a high volume of calls during this period.

01.01.2022 Have an allergy? Or know someone who does? Living with, or being diagnosed with a potentially severe allergy is scary. An allergy is an overreaction by the body...’s immune system to a normally harmless substance. Substances that can trigger an allergic reaction are called allergens. In Australia allergies are very common. Around one in three people will develop allergies at some time during their life. The most common allergic conditions are food allergies, eczema, asthma and hay fever. Food allergy occurs in around 10% of children and approximately 2% of adults. Anaphylaxis is a generalised allergic reaction, which often involves more than one body system (e.g. skin, respiratory, gastro-intestinal and cardiovascular). A severe allergic reaction or anaphylaxis usually occurs within 20 minutes to 2 hours of exposure to the trigger and can rapidly become life threatening. Allergy & Anaphylaxis Australia (A&AA) is a registered charity and Australia’s only national support organisation, dedicated to helping individuals and carers alike in managing allergy and the risk of anaphylaxis. We asked some questions from members of A&AA on the challenges of living with allergies and risk of anaphylaxis, public perception and ways they can find support. Their simple and uncomplicated answers make you stop and think how life changing having an allergy can be. See more
