23.01.2022 Shhhhhhhhhhh......When was the last time you spent just one hour not talking, not on your devices, not keeping your mind constantly distracted or "busy"? Given how crazy busy all of our lives are becoming, I'm a strong believer in the power & importance of being quite, being present, being still. When you book your next massage with me, turn the phone off, turn your distracted mind off, try not making small talk, & simply be present in the moment. You will find that it's not just your body that appreciates some down time.

22.01.2022 As a qualified & experienced Massage Therapist & a Nurse, I am constantly concerned/angry that non-qualified, so called "Massage Therapists" act in a way that g...ives actual trained professionals a bad name. And as a massage consumer I find it infuriating! I have tried several therapists over the years who "claim" to be qualified or at least know what they're doing.....From Thai to Chinese, Swedish & Western Remedial Massage....and the fact that not one of these so called "Therapists" has any actual education on even BASIC Anatomy, let alone FUNCTIONALITY of the human body......disgusts me. No matter how "safe" people claim massage to be, serious damage can still be done by those who are far from educated...and don't even ask your name, let alone if you have any medical conditions etc.! 20.01.2022 Massage has always been my love.....since I was 15years old, giving free massages to my school friends during our lunch break. Anyone can learn to "rub" some muscles, a true massage therapist is actually educated & trained in anatomy & massage techniques & the effect's on the human body. Anyone can train in a "rehearsed" massage routine....a true massage therapist can feel what is unbalanced in your specific muscular system....... An even better one can sense what you need for your soul Choose your therapist wisely. #pinnaclemassagetherapy #educated #trained #experienced See more

06.01.2022 About Trigger Points - it is not simply a knot. There are approximately 650 named skeletal muscles in the human body, and any one of those can develop trigger ...points which can refer pain and cause dysfunction. Symptoms can range from intolerable agonizing pain caused by "active" trigger points, to painless restriction of movement and distortion of posture from "latent" trigger points. The answer to "What Are Trigger Points?" is: research it still underway. But many characteristics have been observed for decades by researchers all over the world. With new testing methods and equipment, in the last ten years much has been learned about the physiology of trigger points. And even though not every mechanism is known, patients get better when their trigger points are treated! When pressed or 'palpated', trigger points feel like "knots" or tight bands in the muscle, and are usually very tender. Healthy muscles usually do not contain knots or tight bands, are not tender to pressure, and when relaxed, they feel soft and pliable to the touch, not hard and dense, even if you work-out. When trigger points are present, on the microscopic level, part of the muscle fiber is contracted into a small thickened area, and the rest of the fiber is stretched thin. Several of these muscle fiber contractures in the same area are probably what we feel as a "knot" in the muscle. These muscle fibers are not available for use because they are already contracted, which is why you cannot condition (strengthen) a muscle that contains trigger points. The sustained contraction probably leads to the release of sensitizing chemicals, producing the pain that is felt when the trigger point is pressed. Eventually some of the structural changes may be irreversible if trigger points are left untreated for long enough. The contractile portions of the fiber in the middle of the knot may separate and retract to each end, leaving an empty portion of the cell in the middle. Trigger points may refer pain both in the local area and/or to other areas of the body, and common patterns have been well-documented and diagramed. These are called "referral patterns." Approximately 74% of the time trigger points are not located where you feel symptoms, and working on the area you feel symptoms does not give you relief. These referral patterns do not necessarily follow nerve pathways. Pain levels can vary depending on the stress placed on the muscle and any of other the perpetuating factors that keep trigger points activated. Tingling, numbness, or burning sensations are more likely due to nerve entrapments, which may be a result of trigger points entrapping the nerve. If the trigger point is "active," it will refer pain or other sensations. If it is "latent," it may cause a decreased range-of-motion and weakness. Active trigger points often start with some impact to the muscle, such as an injury, poor posture or body mechanics, repetitive use, or a nerve root irritation. Any of the perpetuating factors can also indirectly activate trigger points and make you more prone to developing trigger points that are initiated by impacts to muscles. Active trigger points may at some point cease causing pain, and become latent. Latent trigger points can easily return to being active trigger points, often leading the patient to believe they are experiencing a new problem, when in fact it is an old problem being re-aggravated. Latent trigger points can be reactivated by overuse, over-stretching, chilling, or any other of the perpetuating factors. *extract taken from www.triggerpointrelief.com

03.01.2022 When It’s NOT A Good Idea to Get a Massage Most people are great candidates for the relaxation and health benefits of massage therapy. However, there are times when a massage may not be the right choice. Certain conditions contraindicate massage, either because of the risk it may pose to the client or to the therapist. For example, if you have a cold, flu, or other contagious viral or bacterial infection, your therapist may decline to work with you because they don't want to ...catch a cold. Most importantly, they don't want to risk passing the infection to other clients. "When you have a cold or flu, a massage might seem comforting," says Patricia Coe, DC, ND, clinic supervisor for National University of Health Science's massage therapy program. "However, when you have an infection, your body is already working hard to fight it and recover. A massage can be very stimulating internally and place certain demands on your body during a time when you should be simply resting." Another occasion when a massage should be postponed is if you are intoxicated. Many folks seek out massage while on vacation or under stress. They may have also had a few cocktails to relax as well. "Intoxication is a risk during massage," says Dr. Coe, "primarily because it desensitizes you. This makes it hard for you to give your therapist reliable feedback. A massage therapist needs to know what level of pressure is comfortable and what is too much. If you're intoxicated, those sensations are unreliable." "An acute injury is also likely to be a contraindication to massage," says Dr. Coe. "Although it may seem like a great idea to get a massage immediately after straining a muscle, if there is damage to the area, massage may actually interfere with the healing process." "A good therapist will guide the discussion on your health issues so that they can determine the right technique for you and whether or not a massage is contraindicated for you that day," says Dr. Coe. "Always let your massage therapist know of any health issues, or any medications you may be taking, prior to a massage. A massage therapist may ask to consult with your physician if he or she is concerned about how massage will affect your condition." "The healing benefits of massage therapy are many, and it is fairly rare to encounter situations where massage is contraindicated for very long," according to Dr. Coe. 01.01.2022 A common question from client's is "will I bruise after my deep tissue massage/Trigger Point Release"? The answer is...Well yes it is possible, and it depends on many factors such as: Age, Gender, Genetics, Medications & Medical Conditions. The most important thing is to ALWAYS INFORM your therapist if the pressure being applied is too strong so they can adjust & if you have been taking any long term MEDICATIONS/SUPPLEMENTS (see article below) or have any known medical condi...tions. No quality Therapist ever wants to cause even cosmetic trauma to their client, however at times this can be unavoidable. Please read on for more information.... WHAT CAUSES EASY BRUISING? Bruising (ecchymosis) happens when small blood vessels (capillaries) under the skin break. This causes bleeding within skin tissues. You will also see discolorations from the bleeding. MEDICATIONS & EASY BRUISING: Sometimes medications are needed to treat certain health conditions and improve quality of life. However, the very medications you depend on may be what’s causing or your easy bruising. MEDICATIONS THAT REDUCE CLOTTING: Certain medications can increase your tendency to bleed by reducing your body’s ability to form clots. This can sometimes lead to easy bruising. These include: Aspirin, Warfarin (Coumadin), Clopidogrel (Plavix), Rivaroxaban (Xarelto) or Apixaban (Eliquis) HERBS & SUPPLEMENTS: Certain herbs and supplements are believed to affect your body’s ability to clot and lead to easy bruising, though evidence for such side effects is limited in the literature. Examples are: Fish oil, Garlic, Ginger, Ginkgo, Ginseng, Vitamin E, STEROIDS: Steroids can increase the risk of bruising. This is especially the case with topical corticosteroids. NONSTEROIDAL ANTI-INFLAMMATORY DRUGS (NSAID's): Better known as NSAIDs, these medications are commonly used as pain relievers. Unlike other pain relievers, such as acetaminophen (Tylenol), NSAIDs also reduce swelling caused by inflammation. When used over a long period of time, these drugs can increase bleeding. You may also be at risk if you take NSAIDs with other medications that increase bleeding. Common NSAIDs include: Aspirin, Ibuprofen (Nurofen, Advil, Motrin), Naproxen (Aleve), Celecoxib (Celebrex), Fenoprofen (Nalfron) Along with the above mentioned, there are also many genetic and medical reasons that may cause an individual to be more prone to easy bruising.
