24.01.2022 Breakfast is important in maintaining your mood and providing your body with the energy it needs to start the day. It is best to eat breakfast within an hour of waking. If you find it difficult to eat in the morning start off small and with a food that is easy to eat. Some people find fruit or yoghurt are easy breakfast meals.

24.01.2022 The summer holiday period can be very busy and may be a difficult time for many people for a variety of reasons. This may include a higher likelihood of triggers, dealing with family dynamics or the loss of a loved one. Remind yourself of the important elements of your routine and do not feel guilty if you need to take time out for yourself or decline an invitation. Consider the people you would like to surround yourself with over the holiday season and make time to connect with them.

22.01.2022 For those in Stage 3 Restrictions, many aspects of your day that create routine have disappeared. It is important to focus on setting up a routine that is similar to your usual routine. Aspects to consider are: Sleep, meals, exercise, hobbies, relaxation and most importantly SELF CARE. Many parts of your routine will require adaptation, the more creative and flexible you can be, the better! For example, if your morning exercise usually consists of walking to the train station, consider walking safely around the block to 'arrive' for the start of your day.

17.01.2022 The body and mind need to move over the day. With restrictions we are moving far less. Consider your daily exercise routine AND also your movement over the day. Stretching over the day helps to keep us interested, alert and motivated and also helps to relieve tension.

15.01.2022 How will you practise Mindfulness this weekend?

14.01.2022 Getting a little bit of sunlight first thing in the morning is a great to signal to your body that it is time to wake up. This also helps your body to settle into circadian rhythm and tell the difference between day and night, leading to improved sleep

13.01.2022 Now is an important time to connect with those who are living alone. Restrictions are very isolating for those without other company in the home. Think of some ways to connect. This could be as simple as a call or text or could be more involved such as watching the same series and discussing after each episode, playing an online challenge game together or both creating separate pieces of a shared artwork.

09.01.2022 It is important to continue attending your usual healthcare and allied healthcare appointments. Many providers are able to allow Telehealth as an option over this time. Please continue to see your GP and specialists as required.

04.01.2022 Wednesday is a great day to re-assess your weekly goals. Is there anything you need to re-adjust, add or move forward when you look over your goals? For example, if you set a goal to say walk every day of the week and you realise you haven’t done this at all yet, don’t worry you do not need to abandon this goal. Instead, re-adjust your goal to walk at least twice for the week and then see how you go!
