25.01.2022 First AI calf of the season. Pinnaroo R1 is a bull calf (33kg) sired by GAR Proactive out of a KCF Bennet Rock sired Heifer (Pinnaroo P19). Combination of high growth and quality carcass traits with a powerful phenotype with lots of capacity and volume of muscle.

24.01.2022 CIDR’s in heifers and stud cattle this week. Had to pen these boys up for a closer look. HA Cowboy Up 5405 sons look an absolute treat. 2 months old.

24.01.2022 Pregnancy testing started two weeks ago with these lovely AI bred heifers. We have just finished up with our best result on farm. 172 cattle tested with 7 (4%) empty. We AI’d 144 with 94 conceiving the straw (65%). These heifers topped our historical results for heifers with 52 total, 35 to straw (67.3%), 13 bull (25%) and 4 empty (7.7%). Scanning the sheep mid-March so let’s hope the results continue.

22.01.2022 Weaning complete. Couple different mobs in the yards to hopefully manage the dust a bit better.

22.01.2022 This heifer Q34 was born 31st July 2019, makes her nearly 14 months old. She saw a bull when her mother was joined (with mop up bull post AI) 9 months ago, making her between 4-5months old when she conceived this healthy (but small) calf. I have never seen this before and I’ve experienced 1000s of calving animals. She weighed 240kg at 200 days and would be guessing she would be between 350-400kg pre-calving. Her heifer counterparts are due to be AI’d end next month, she will join them and stay on our best feed until then.

20.01.2022 Very interesting and exciting with our first Pinnaroo bred Merino Ewe lambs being classed today. Thanks to Jarrod Demarco, our wool agent and advisor for classing. Will retain 215 for Merino joining and classed out 75 for our Suffolk / fat lamb operation.

20.01.2022 Main Shearing nearly complete. Big thanks to Savage Shearing team

19.01.2022 Class of 2020 has been decided. Some incredible genetics selected to complement our past 4 years of substantial genomic growth. Big shout out Dale from HCH genetics/World Wide Sires Australia.

18.01.2022 Ewe Hoggets run in for shearing tomorrow @savage_shearing crew #merinowool

18.01.2022 He was about 100m from where I saw him two years ago. Placid and beautiful. Got very close (as you can see) and he didn’t move an inch. Don’t mind seeing them around the paddocks.

18.01.2022 Suffolk x Merino class of 2020 is a ripper. Out of their weaning paddocks onto Oat/Rye/Clover crop tomorrow morning.

15.01.2022 Wonder how many sheep in Australia today

15.01.2022 Ferguson Trailblazer calves looking mighty fine.

12.01.2022 Semen testing the yearling and two year old bulls yesterday. Thanks Dr Anna Manning from Delatite Veterinary. All bulls structurally sound ready to go awaiting final lab results. This is a Clunes Crossing Dusty M13 sired Bull.

12.01.2022 https://auctionsplus.com.au/auctionV2/New/ Rare opportunity to buy some well formed breeding stock from us, with calves at foot. These girls have produced sensational calves for us over the years and been apart of our commercial AI program.... Jump on Auctionsplus tomorrow

10.01.2022 Proud as punch moment here on the farm. #straighttothepoolroom #aaaam #merinowool

08.01.2022 Joined the yearling and 2YO bulls together after their yearly boosters. #dustym13 calves are crackers @hch_genetics #bellaspurangus #sandman #pinnaroobredbulls

08.01.2022 Eventful morning on the farm. We welcomed 11 new piglets. Mum and piglets doing very well.

08.01.2022 That’s lambing marking done for 2020. Just under 600 Merinos (320 Ewe lambs) marked today. 108% overall with a 91% conversion from singles but let down with the twins at 74% (148% in Twins). Smaller twin mobs next year and fantastic results compared to last year.

07.01.2022 Our beautiful heifer Anvil Princess P103 (HBR), sired by Bruns Thunderbolt out of Anvil Princess K110 has had a heifer calf sired by EF Prime Quarter weighing 27kg.

07.01.2022 Suffolk lambs for mid-week drench. Season makes all the difference and they haven’t seen summer crops yet

05.01.2022 Exciting young bull calf (38kg). Sired by HA Cowboy Up (sold for $350,000 US in 2016) out of our Riga Kitty M19. This sire was our big straw purchase for the year, which goes into our top stud cows.

05.01.2022 Exciting opportunity with these boys. 34 Steers AI bred by Ferguson Trailblazer (USA 18996007). Top 1% 200,400,600, Carcass weight & all feed indexes. In the past 30 days, including weaning, they have gained on average 1.8kg/head/day. https://auctionsplus.com.au/auctionV2/New/#/presale/35200

04.01.2022 Covid-19 has luckily not impacted us too heavily like expected. I’ve crunched the numbers and we are down nearly 25% wool value on last year. We have though increased our volume by 15% from 4.5kg to 5.2kg (per ewe) and strength from high 20’s to 45 STR (goal 50 plus). We earned only $6 less per ewe compared to last year. Very happy considering the reports and impacts on our dear wool industry.

03.01.2022 Pinnaroo P1 & P9 Connealy Sandman sons, enjoying their Q-Heifers. With AI programs I’m hoping they aren’t working too much. #angusaustralia @hch_genetics

02.01.2022 Exciting week ahead. Our P-Heifers all AI’d to these stunning bulls are due to calve in the coming days. The P-Heifers are all AI bred from the elite KCF Bennett The Rock and Connealy Sandman. We also have some purchased Anvil HBR P-Heifers including an exciting Lowan daughter who stems from Te Mania Lowan Y147, who’s daughter topped the dispersal sale at $52,000

01.01.2022 Took this video couple days ago. Shows importance of checking all cattle calving as you just never know what could happen.

01.01.2022 Merino Ewe Hoggets got their pre-shear crutch today. With heavy rain coming through from last evening, got these ladies in the shed for a dry shear session today. Giving some confidence with some expected humid weather coming over the next couple of weeks that this will keep them safe from flies.
