24.01.2022 On 12 April 1971, the gates of Griffith Pioneer Park Museum opened, realising the dream of founder Charles Sharam, who, along with other volunteers, worked for ...several years to make his dream a reality. 50 years on, the Museum continues to live ‘One Man’s Dream’, preserving and sharing our region’s history. To mark this milestone, we would like to invite the community to join in our year-long celebrations, with a range of workshops, exhibitions, tours, and displays on offer throughout 2021. We hope you enjoy this video that was projected onto the water tank. Our first celebrations kicked off on Monday 5 April to Monday 12 April, future events will be listed on our website and Facebook Page.

17.01.2022 Today Young Public School Year 6 travelled all the way to Griffith to visit our Museum! Students learnt about Wiradjuri history and culture through a visit to the Scar Trees that are cared for by the Museum, and one up-and-coming historian even managed to find an artefact hidden in the scrub!

16.01.2022 Acknowledgement, remembrance and commemoration to the Stolen Generation and other mistreatment of Australia's indigenous population is given today, National Sorry Day / National Healing Day and always.

16.01.2022 We said our farewells to another long standing volunteer today. June McGrane volunteered at the Museum for close to 25 years. June was a witty character who spoke her mind albeit with eloquence. She was an active member of the Committee for at least 20 years and assisted dutifully at every Australia Day Breakfast and Action Day thereafter. Even when June's mobility decreased and she had to rely on her wheelie walker for balance, she insisted on not missing meetings and her Friday duties in the shop. June did not retire from her duties per say as she worked right up until the week she was put in hospital and she wouldn't have had it any other way. Her many stories and the antics will be remembered by all the staff and volunteers she dealt with over the years. RIP June.

15.01.2022 Still looking for a last-minute Christmas gift? The Griffith Pioneer Park Museum gift shop has Vintage Voices radio plays CDs in stock! We are open til Friday 18th before we close for the holiday period.

12.01.2022 Thanks for visiting, Marian Catholic College! MCC year 12 Biology class spent the afternoon with our Curator seeing the Griffith District Hospital’s respirator, or ‘Iron Lung’. As part of their studies on infectious diseases, the class has been tuning in to the Museum’s short documentaries about Griffith’s history with Polio and the Spanish Influenza (check out our videos to view these!).

12.01.2022 Our phone is up and running! Although it is not as old as this one at least we can now be contacted. I would love some clever person to get this phone going! Don't forget to come to our First Sunday Tours this weekend. Guided train tour at 11.00 am. Enjoy!

10.01.2022 It is nearing the end of Volunteer's Week and we express our utmost gratitude to ALL our volunteers here at Pioneer Park Museum. Each and every one of you put your valuable time into working hard to present the Museum as the No 1 Tourist attraction in Griffith and we never have and I don't believe, ever will do it without you! Cheryl who is Front of House and also is our only exhibition cleaner takes immense pride in the buildings and how they are presented. Recently she has... thoroughly cleaned the homesteads in preparation for our anniversary. She also took 3 weeks to take every item off the shelves in the Taylor's Bros Store, dust, clean and replace them! Heather continues to organise wonderful textile exhibitions whilst maintaining the textile collection and engages in everything we ask her to do. I saw her dusting off the medical collection and Mike her husband scrubbing the old theatre equipment yesterday! Lou, Denis, Kooky, Rob, Wendy, Elaine, Kerrie, Annie, Kaye, Viv, Pat, Alan, Lyn, Frank, Sue, Valma, John (apologies if I have left any out in my rush) - we think you are amazing! THANK YOU. Welcome to our newest recruits Jenna and Colleen.

07.01.2022 Merry Christmas

06.01.2022 We receive many positive reviews on Google and TripAdvisor. I just thought I would share one from today. Sometimes us Griffithites take the Museum for granted without knowledge of what visitors think! Make sure you bring your friends/family along if they are visiting "Lou n Tom Thomas 4 hours ago... Just spent 3 hours wandering around this museum. One of the best we have ever been to. So great that these buildings and equipment have been saved. So much amazing history. What a wonderful group of volunteers. Must place to visit."

04.01.2022 Happy New Year!

03.01.2022 Wow! 6 years ago already!
