12.01.2022 While sampling canola for our Blackleg survey, Paul Jenke (SA Territory Sales Manager) highlighted the importance of planting canola away from the previous years canola stubble. There is a clear difference in the severity of Blackleg infection between the 2 samples shown. Sample 1 - taken next to last years stubble. Sample 2 - taken 1km away at the other end of the same paddock. Planting 500m away from last years stubble significantly reduces the risk & severity of Blackleg. 10.01.2022 Pioneer canola hybrid 43Y92 CL came off nicely for the McHugh’s near Finniss in SA. Yield was approx. 2.8t/Ha, while their 44Y90 CL near Strathalbyn went about 3.3t/Ha. Oil was between 46 and 48.5% across both crops.
