07.01.2022 TRIGGER WARNING Posted on my own profile. Australia's #MeToo in politics is building and perhaps we are finally finding our outrage... Christian Porter, Australia's Attorney General is currently the centre of a historic rape case scandal.... From my home town, he used to work for Dept of Public Prosecutions and was once assigned to my court case when the man who broke into my house and sexually assaulted me was sentenced, back in 2004. Porter then went on to be WA’s Attorney General and oversaw the proceeds of crime funding scheme. I met with him when my daughter was young enough to think I had a meeting with the Eternal General. I had hoped our slim personal connection would strengthen my case with him to ensure continued finding for Reclaiming Voices, a peer support group of women I had co-founded, hoping to create positive change. It didn’t and the emerging program was discontinued. Thinking of the woman and her family. And the #MeToo of Australian politics rolls on... And this image of him with his White Ribbon on is exactly why I feel so uncomfortable with the White Ribbon Ambassador scheme... leaving aside the important consideration of presumption of innocence, he has acknowledged his youthful misogyny which would appear to be unabated in his adult life... https://www.theguardian.com//christian-porter-denies-histo
