25.01.2022 Why we love Northcliffe #23 - every year we have a build up in anticipation waiting for Lane Poole Falls to start flowing after our autumn rains. It’s a lovely ...5km return walk from the Boorara Tree through the karri forest of the Boorara-Gardner National Park with a forest lookout on the way for a rest. This forest was heavily impacted by the 2015 Northcliffe fire and the lookout had to rebuilt. Look for fungi and birds along the way, and at this stage the waterfall is just a trickle. More rain is required! See more

20.01.2022 Home made bread fresh out of the oven for this mornings breakfast

19.01.2022 Why we love Northcliffe #29 - we have a huge variety of birdlife in our area - from our cute little forest birds, endangered black cockatoos, several species of... raptors, waterbirds, to shorebirds at Windy Harbour and seabirds often seen flying past as you sit on the coast. While some of our birds are common year round, such as this Scarlet Robin in our backyard, if you keep your eyes open and listen carefully you never know what you’ll find. Our favourite sightings over the years include a Northern Rockhopper Penguin at Windy Harbour, a Malleefowl at Yeagarup and a Masked Owl in the Northcliffe Forest Park. See more

11.01.2022 The sixth episode of Artspiration draws us into the tale of the incredible Rising From The Ashes project. This work acknowledges the unique role the arts can pl...ay in assisting communities recover from collective trauma, in this case in response to the declared national natural disaster, the 2015 Northcliffe bush fire. Southern Forest Arts’ Fiona Sinclair gives us the full story, from the experiences of those in the town during this crisis, to the shape and power of the work that exists today as a testament to the strength of Northcliffe’s community bonds. __________________ Artspiration is an initiative of The Creative Grid project through the Regional Arts Partnership Program #rappnetwork supported by the State Government of WA (Culture and the Arts, WA, Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries) and Country Arts WA. 11.01.2022 One of our favourite drives in our area is the Great Forest Trees Drive in Shannon National Park (all gravel road, take it easy and enjoy the journey). To get ...there head east on Middleton Rd (2km north of Northcliffe) for about 15 minutes until you reach Deeside Coast Rd. Turn right to head towards Snake Gully Boardwalk where you can sit peacefully and listen to the birds. Continue on Deeside Coast Rd to visit Big Tree Grove, a short loop walk through a beautiful stand of huge old karri. Continue along the drive on to Preston Rd and then follow the signs to head north to the Shannon Campground. A new stop has been created to show the impact of wildfires on our forests. At the campground stop and imagine what life was like in the little mill town that once existed there. Continue along the drive north of the Sth West Highway to visit Shannon Dam. From here the drive does a loop back to the South West Highway with stops at Which Tree is That? to discover our major tree species, Melaleucas and Curtin Tank. Walk trails are available from Shannon Campground and Shannon Dam, pack a picnic lunch and spend the day exploring! See more

07.01.2022 Weekend winter vibes at the coast, Windows Lookout at Pt D’Entrecasteaux

06.01.2022 Hi Everyone. Let me introduce myself. My real name is SB5103 but my friends call me 'THE SAUV'. Today is my birthday, or "Bud-Day" as we call it in the vines. E...xcuse my scruffy appearance- apparently I am booked in for a short back & sides next year. This season I am going to take you all on a growing adventure so stay tuned. I will try to check in atleast once a week, or when something exciting happens. I've been at this since 2005, so I'm an old hat at it, but hopefully some of you will find my journey to be exciting (better than watching grass grow, trust me). Until next time.... P.S. Oh and keep an eye on my brother and sister vines behind me - I have heard that something exciting is planned for them.... See more

02.01.2022 So stoked it's nearly wildflower season! Another couple of weeks and we'll have the coast and jarrah forests in full flower, followed by the karri forest understory in October. A beautiful time of year to visit :)

01.01.2022 Foxglove Project is an Australian charity working to eradicate poverty in the Developing World by empowering women and girls to change their own lives. Foxglove focuses on people development. Equipping & supporting people to provide for themselves. Thay work through in-country partners to identify a community’s poorest people, and invite them into local Self Help Groups to find friendship, training, access to finances and start micro-businesses. I am so proud to be able to be apart of this, I decided that $5 from every bed night, that I sell at PipinnVale will go towards supporting Foxglove. so I hope that you will come on board with me to help them change the lives of many..... as every woman that Foxglove empowers will take with her out of poverty 5 people... isn't that fantastic?
