08.01.2022 After the ACT tightened the liquor licencing laws in 2010 incidents of violence where alcohol was a factor rose so the ACT Alcohol Policy Alliance wants to tighten the liquor licence laws even further. Their suggestions include a 1am lockout law. The evidence just doesn't support lockout law's being effective as Mr Hinchey from the ACT Victims of Crime Commission points out but goes on to suggest a firm 3am closing time for all venues without citing any evidence of such a policy's effectiveness.
