18.01.2022 As a follow up to our successful Sips and Tips Golf Afternoon, we are pleased to be holding a Ladies Get into Golf Program running on Sunday 13th, 20th and 27th... September 2020 from 10.30 - 12.30pm with coaching from accredited Community Coach Peter Tyler. The cost will be $15 for the 3 weeks ($5 each week). The morning will also include getting out onto the course. Feel free to bring your own Golf Clubs, if not clubs will be supplied on the day. Looking forward to seeing you all again and please feel free to bring along anyone that missed our Sips and Tips Afternoon and would be interested in learning more about the great game of Golf. 30.12.2021 Please meet another deserving Certificate of Merit for Outstanding Community Service winner, Eyvonne Davidson! At the age of 83 years young, Eyvonne continues t...o voluntarily clean and maintain the Port Pirie Golf Club’s public toilets. Taking great pride in her work, Eyvonne paints and cleans the facilities regularly at her own expense and does so because she wants to present a positive reflection of Port Pirie to out of town golfers when they visit. She is also an active member of the Golf Club’s Friday night teas and has helped to organise fundraising concerts and other events. As a senior player of the club for the past 26 years, Eyvonne has won many awards including two Smelters Trophies, the Geoff Brock Trophy and two Club Trophies. Over the years, Eyvonne has been a very active sportsperson in our community playing sports such as netball, volleyball, go-cart racing, swimming and tennis, as well as winning two Bathing Beauty contests at the Port Pirie Beach Carnival in the late 1950s and early 1960s. She was also involved in many community activities with the Solomontown Football Club, along with her husband Ian ‘Pinkie' Davidson and their two sons. Furthermore, Eyvonne often visits the Port Pirie Soldiers Memorial Cemetery to tidy up some of the old diggers’ graves as she cleans her father's grave. Congratulations Eyvonne, you are a true inspiration and a worthy recipient of the Certificate of Merit! Eyvonne will be presented with her award on Australia Day.
