25.01.2022 Birthday shout outs and other news. No Birthdays this week (that I know of) so no shout outs. If you know of a member who is having a Birthday but is trying to keep it a secret, let me know so we can share the love. On the "other news" front. nothing much to report here either.... Having said that, we seem to be getting a little complacent with COVID rules. I noticed on Saturday that a lot of members all went into the complex at once which doesn't abide by COVID rules. Please, wait until a few minutes before your tee time before entering the complex, paying your fees . There is not only a queue waiting at the desk but, this also leads to a fairly large number of players congregating at the first tee waiting to tee of. Come on people, let's be smart about all this and do the right thing. Until next week, good golfing and see you on the fairways.
25.01.2022 Birthday shout outs and other news. A busy week for Birthday's this week with four members celebrating. They are:... Charlie Hutchison Monday July 13 (today) Fritz Tunneman Thursday July 16 Allan Wright Friday July 17 and Ken Glassey Sunday July 19 Happy Birthday fellas, hope you have a great day There is no real news to report but, we the committee, wish to say thanks for abiding by the imposed COVID rules placed upon us all. Could you also remember that we are trying to do the right thing by all members and, simple little things like the start time sheet are based upon a "first in best dressed" scenario. Yes, we all have a favourite time we like to tee off but, if another group has put their names down, that time is taken and you cannot just put your group names down above an already allocated slot. We will try our hardest to accommodate requests but we can't please everybody all of the time. That's it for now. Good golfing and see you on the fairways.

24.01.2022 OK folks the news we have been waiting for. Competitions are up and running again. However, there are a few rules we all have to follow to make this happen and keep it going. We have all been looking forward to getting back out there for a competition round and we can say that we trialled the "New Normal" this morning. The rules that need to be followed are as follows:... No congregating outside the door waiting for to centre to open. The centre is not opening until 0900 daily Please, wash your hands before you go to the counter to sign in and/or pay your comp fee. Groups are limited to two players only and this will be enforced so, please make sure you have a playing partner before you turn up for a game. Flag stick must be left in the hole at all times and no touching the flag stick. If you get in a bunker, there is no raking of the sand so please try to smooth over your marks as best you can with your shoe. You mark you partners card but cards are not swapped (to minimise cross contamination) and, only one signature per card is required. It is therefore very important, that scores marked on the card are checked and verified after each hole and at the end of the round. Once you have finished your game, performed the tasks of the new scoring regime, please head off home as congregating in groups is still not permitted. There will be a slight change to the way final scores are also calculated but this will become more evident when you get to the end of the round. If you have any questions ask one of the committee members and they will do their best to answer you concerns. This is a trial period so please, have a bit of patience and understanding as we are just trying to get competitions running again and keeping them going. We have been told the police check in on the course just about every day to ensure the social distancing rules and other health regulations are being met. If we get it wrong, there is the possibility of some heavy fines and possible future closure of the course if we don't stick to the rules. We may well be introducing a "booking sheet" in some format for the future but at the moment tee off is from 0900 - 1030 so there should be plenty of scope to meet the social distancing rules. Hope we see a few more out there again soon but, we understand if you still choose to limit your possible exposure until such time as it is deemed to be a lot safer. Hope you all take this news into account and hope to see more of you out there again soon. In the meantime, if you have a question on any of the above, please do not hesitate in contacting us via a comment to this post or, message us direct and we will get back to you with an answer.
23.01.2022 Birthday shout outs and other news. A couple of shout outs this week, let's help the ladies celebrate their special day. They are:... Shirley Williams Friday July 24; and Barbara Jackson also Friday July 24. Happy Birthday ladies and we hope you both have an enjoyable day. No other news this week. The committee would like to take this opportunity to thank all the members who are adhering to the COVID rules and other guidelines to the best of our abilities. Rest assured we will let you know if anything changes and/or are eased in any way. Some people have asked when the NTP's are coming back? It has been decided that this may be a long way off because having the NTP markers means that they would be handled by many people during the course of a competition and, this does not meet the current guidelines. Good golfing and see you on the fairways.
22.01.2022 Birthday shout outs. No Birthdays this week so no shout outs. Don't forget, there is no competition rounds at the moment but, you can still go out and have a "practice" round with a friend. All we ask is that you only play in a group of two and all the other health guidelines implemented.... So get out there with a friend and "May the fourth be with you."

21.01.2022 Birthday shout outs and other news. There are no Birthdays this week, that I know of, so no shout outs this week. If you know of a member who is having a Birthday we don't know about, please let us know so we can included him/her and give them a shout out. Thursday comps (men and women combined) will start again this Thursday (June 18). If you would like yo play in the Thursday comp, get in touch with Marie or Charlie and request your desired tee off time. No guarantees you w...ill get the time slot you would like (first in best dressed) but, we will try to get you a slot as close as possible to your request. A confirmation email will be sent out so keep an eye out for your official tee time. Don't forget that Tuesday mixed comps, Wednesday ladies only comp and Saturday mixed comps are running again so we have almost a full competition regime running again. We would just like to reinforce that COVID restrictions are still in place so please do not congregate in numbers in the car park or around the first tee. Please remember to keep the social distance guidelines. After you have finished your round, please place your marked and signed card in the box provided. That's all the news for the moment but, keep an eye on this page for any updates on changes to playing conditions as they happen. Good golfing and see you on the fairways.
21.01.2022 This weeks health and fitness tip. This week our fitness tip is a "Lateral Raise." For those of you who don't know what a lateral raise is, a photo is attached. We are attempting to give you some tips on fitness but, at the same time, we also want to keep any costs to a minimum. We attempt to let you know alternative equipment instead of having to buy expensive gym equipment. For this particular exercise, all you need is either a 2 litre or 3 litre plastic bottle of milk. The... type with a handle. Now, a lateral raise is basically standing up with your arms hanging by your side and, then raising you arm to shoulder height and holding for a certain amount of time and then slowly letting your arms back to the resting position. I suggest you start off without any weight. Stand with your arms just hanging by your side. Raise you arm to shoulder height and hold for 10 seconds. Repeat this with the opposite arm and repeat for 10 cycles (5 lateral raises per arm). Over the week try and get the raises up to 20 seconds. Week 2, take a 2 litre bottle and try a lateral raise as above and hold for 5 - 10 seconds. Once again, slowly increase the number and duration of the hold over the week. On week three, use the 3 litre bottle and slowly increase the time duration and number of raises. For week 4 onwards, I suggest you actually put some water in the milk bottles to add a little weight? Hope you all find this exercise helpful? Good golfing and see you on the fairways.
21.01.2022 Birthday shout outs and other news. No Birthdays to celebrate this week. On the news front, there is one bit of news that will make a few of us a bit sad.... As a lot of you know, this club host an annual event for the ACT Special Olympic (SO) golfers in early September. It is a foursomes format event where a SO golfer is paired up with a CIPP member and, a lot of fun is had. In collaboration with the SO golfers, it is sad to say that this years event has been cancelled due to the COVID situation. Rest assured we will have this event on next years calendar of events and, fingers crossed, COVID will be well behind us by then. No other news at this stage but please keep an eye on this page for any updates as the occur. Good golfing and see you on the fairways.
20.01.2022 Birthday shout out. This week we have one Birthday to celebrate, it is: Pamela Drummond on Wednesday September 30.... Have a wonderful day Pam and we hope yo get to spend it with family and friends. Not much on the "other news" front this week. The committee is investigating how and when we might be able to bring back things like, nearest the pin, daily double and the likes. We are going to attempt to bring back the circle hole/s in the very near future and we are working through the logistics of how this might happen. Keep an ear to ground and watch this space for further information. Until next time, good golfing and see you on the fairways.
19.01.2022 Birthday shout outs and other news. Birthday shout outs this week go to: Joe Parisi Wednesday August 26;... Mick O'Dowd Sunday August 30; and Hazel Duncan also Sunday August 30. We hope each of you have a great day and get to celebrate your special day with loved ones. Nothing on the other news front this week. We would like to thank those brave souls who turned up over the weekend to play in the Club Championships in what can be best described as "horrendous" weather conditions. Congratulations to June Drury and Tom Rickit for taking out the ladies and men's Championships and all the other winners. Now having complained about the weather over the weekend, one of our members sent in the attached news paper article from the WW2 period of a course in northern England and some "local rules" they had to implement during this period. It really does make you stop and reflect and, even possibly, stop whinging about little things like a bit of bad weather?
19.01.2022 CIPP Club Championships round 2 results. Round 2 was played in freezing (about 5 or 6 degrees) and very windy conditions (wind was about 35 - 40 Km/H) with the occasional snow flurry. These weather conditions made for a hard day to score well but, the players battled their way through it. The attached photos show the leader board after round 2. Good luck to all players in tomorrow's final round. The weather conditions are predicted to be slightly better than the last 2 days.

14.01.2022 Birthday shout outs and other news. A couple of Birthday's we can help celebrate this week. They are: Sandra Waterford today Monday September 14; and... Gwen Hartican Tuesday September 15 Hope both ladies get to have some kind of celebration with family and friends in these hard times. Now on the "other news front", I thought I would share a couple of fitness ideas with you. What the?? you ask. As a bit of background, I recently went to my local doctor and she advised me I needed to increase my health and fitness levels. OK doc what do I need to do and, what exercises do recommend, I asked? Over the next couple of weeks I will share just some of the ideas/plans we came up with to make me healthier. Now the first exercise she suggested was walking. I told her I play P&P 2 or 3 times a week and wasn't that enough? No she said, while playing P&P is good, it is not a consistent walk as you often stop in between shots or are standing around waiting for my partners to play their shot. She said, "a good solid walk down to the shops or around the block would be more beneficial." OK I thought taking on her recommendation, on the way home I stopped off at Bunnings and went in and bought one besser block. Got home and promptly took Mr. Besser to the back yard and placed it there. Now, not being one to rush into anything, it took me a couple of days before I undertook this new health regime. I went down to the back yard, confronted Mr. Besser and plucked enough courage to walk around it once. Exhausted I went inside to rest and recover. I slowly built up how far I walked and I can confidently go back to my GP and, with hand on heart, tell her I can walk around the block 3 times without stopping. She will be impressed? Stay tuned for instalment 2 in this exercise "helpful tips" next week. Good golfing and see you on the fairways.
13.01.2022 Birthday shout outs and other news. Only one Birthday this week so, a big Happy Birthday to: Luc Lombardo today (Monday August 17)... Hope you have a great day. On the news front, don't forget to get your name on the list if you intend to play in the club Championships this coming weekend. Entries close tomorrow so as to allow the draw to be completed and players advised of starting times. Good luck to all of you who are playing. Now, just to fill up some space, I would like to take this opportunity to celebrate my favourite cut of meat but, is probably one of the worst words you can use in golf. I won't mention the word in case I slip into its' dreaded curse but will tell you it is a lovely cut from a lamb. If you reckon you know what it is, see if you can find a photo of this meat and post it in the comments below. I will even throw in a sleeve of golf balls (3) to the best contribution. Judges decision is final. Good golfing and see you on the fairways
13.01.2022 Last weeks competition results & COVID-19 Update Apologies for being so late with last weeks results! However, as most of you should know, all competitions were cancelled as of Tuesday afternoon. Therefore, there is only the results from last Tuesday. Tuesday 24 March combined comp... Best Gross: Warren Gray 49 Best Nett: Sandra Hutchison 53 - 1 = 52 2nd Nett: Eddie Zeller 54 - 1 = 53 ocb 3rd Nett: Lionel Fisher 50 + 3 = 53 NTP's: Ladies Marie Hutchison, men Lionel Fisher Lucky door prizes: Rose Henman, Daniel Dennis Congratulations to all the winners Now for a COVID-19 update! I was driving past the course this morning and called in to clarify if the course is open or not after yesterdays news ( I thought it may have been an April fools joke). It is still the clubs decision to suspend competition rounds until further notice but, the course is open for a social round if you wish. Please take into account that a social round is restricted to 2 players in any one group, the 2 meter distance between players is to be adhered to, flags MUST be left in the hole and, bunkers cannot be raked, please just smooth them out as best you can with your foot. Also no shaking hands at the end of the round and all the other recommendations concerning COVID-19. In other words, if you have a friend you would like have a social game with, get in touch and see if they too want a game but adhere to all the rules as above. Hopefully it won't be for too much longer and we can all get back out there playing ASAP. Stay safe and well all of you. Until next time, stay safe and see you on the fairways (at some stage)
12.01.2022 Club Championships. The attached is the round 1 results for the CIPP Club Championships. Weather was wet, cold and pretty windy which doesn't make for great golf. We my be playing in the snow tomorrow for round 2 but, we will have to wait and see what the weather gods have in store for us.
12.01.2022 News and Birthday shout outs. There are no Birthdays ( that I know of) this week so, no shout outs. Some additional news we just heard from another member. We have just heard Hazel Duncan had a round to remember last week with 2 Hole's in One. Apparently Hazel aced the 4th and 10th holes last week in the one round. Congratulations Hazel... Please watch this page for updates on the resumption of competition rounds. The committee are discussing ways we can get competitions going again safely. This means we all have to obey social distancing rules and no congregating either before or after a game. No decisions have been made at this stage but, we are trying to work through some suggestions to get comps up and running again. Whichever way you look at it, what is happening right now (social distancing and the likes) will be with us for a long time to come and, it is up to each and every one of us to make the best of it, if we want to play comps again. Some of the decisions we make may not be popular but, they will be made in the best interests of all members. All we ask is that you give us a fair go when the time comes. Of course, anything we introduce will be looked at to see if we can make things better and flow more smoothly and, changes may well be warranted and implemented. In the meantime, get out there for a practice/social round so as to keep your hand in and have some fun. Good golfing and see you on the fairways.
10.01.2022 Club Championships 2020 In the photos below, we give you the final results (over the 3 rounds) for the CIPP Club Championships for 2020. While the weather was better today than the first 2 days, it was still windy and, the wind was coming off the snow which made it feel colder than what it possibly was.... Congratulations to Tom Rickit (Men's Champion) and June Drury (Ladies Champion) and, all the other winners
09.01.2022 Birthday shout outs and news. No Birthdays this week (that I know of). If you are celebrating a Birthday this week and I missed you, let me know. Not much on the news front as well. We just want to remind members that the club Championships are fast approaching and just a reminder to get your name on the sheet if you intend to play. The Championships will be played over 54 holes this year with 18 holes on Friday August 21, Saturday August 22 and Sunday August 23. There is als...o a 36 hole event on the Friday and Saturday. Lastly, we would ask that none of us get complacent with COVID 19 still among us and, to keep social distancing, good hygiene and abide by all the other COVID safety rules as applicable. Good golfing and see you on the fairways.

07.01.2022 A few more laughs for you in this difficult time. Confession An elderly man walks into a confessional. The following conversation ensues:... Man: 'I am 92 years old, have a wonderful wife of 70 years, many children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Yesterday, I picked up two hitch-hiking college girls. We went to a motel where I had sex with each of them three times.' Priest: 'Are you sorry for your sins?' Man: 'What sins?' Priest: 'What kind of a Catholic are you?' Man: 'I'm Jewish.' Priest: 'Why are you telling me all this?' Man: 'I'm 92 years old . . . I'm telling everybody!' ------------------------------------------------------------ Brothel Trip An elderly man goes into a brothel and tells the madam he would like a young girl for the night. Surprised, she looks at the ancient man and asks how old he is. 'I'm 90 years old,' he says. '90?' replies the woman. 'Don't you realize that you've had it?' 'Oh, sorry,' says the old man. 'How much do I owe you?' ------------------------------------------------------------ Senility An elderly man went to his doctor and said, 'Doc, I think I’m getting senile. Several times lately, I have forgotten to zip up.' 'That's not senility,' replied the doctor. 'Senility is when you forget to zip down.' ------------------------------------------------------------ Pest Control A woman was having a passionate affair with an Irish inspector from a pest-control company. One afternoon they were carrying on in the bedroom together when her husband arrived home unexpectedly. 'Quick,' said the woman to the lover, 'into the closet!' and she pushed him in the closet, stark naked. The husband, however, became suspicious and after a search of the bedroom discovered the man in the closet. 'Who are you?' he asked him. 'I'm an inspector from Bugs-B-Gone,' said the exterminator. 'What are you doing in there?' the husband asked. 'I'm investigating a complaint about an infestation of moths,' the man replied. 'And where are your clothes?' asked the husband. The man looked down at himself and said, 'Those little b@#&%*s!’ ------------------------------------------------------------
07.01.2022 Have a look at this video people. A little bit cold by the looks of it but, we are used to those conditions. A great little P&P course from our cousins across the ditch. Would love to be able to get there and have an International Challenge?
07.01.2022 OK folks, here is something you can do to keep your hand in for when we get back out on the course. Something you can practice in you backyard and/or down at the local oval if you don't have a yard big enough. You could use something like an upturned golf umbrella and see how many you can land in it on the full. Let us know what you have used as targets so we can share with other frustrated P&P'ers out there.

05.01.2022 Latest news about competition restart. Most members would have seen the email from the committee (via Marie and Charlie) about restarting comps once again (restart comps version 2.0). This post is just a reinforcement of that email and, what is expected to make this latest attempt to get comps up and running again, a reality. Just remember the first attempt failed because we (as a group) couldn't follow the rules. This post is aimed at the current membership but, if you aren'...t a member but would love to become one, please contact us via a comment below or send us a private message and we will get back to you and fill you in on things on how to become a member like, what it costs, what benefits there are to becoming a member etc. Listed below are some of the things we need all players to remember and do, so we can successfully get the comps running again. The first "Trial" of the new system will be this Saturday (May 23) followed by another trial the following Saturday (May 30) and a final test for the ladies comp on Wednesday June 3. If all goes well, we will introduce these guidelines as the "new normal" for competitions of the future. All we ask is that for you to remember that not everyone can hit off at 9:00am any more (no shot gun start). We are now introducing a starting time sheet system and, all players will being hitting off from the first tee. You will have to organise a group of players and then get one of that group to call Marie/Charlie or send an email to them to request a desired tee off time. If you also go to the email from Marie, you will see a "PROTOCOLS FOR PLAY" document outlining the minimum requirements expected by all of us to make the resumption of comps successful. OK folks, it is now up to us to make this work. If we don't behave and do what the Government and health authorities need us to do, it could be a long time before we get competitions going again. Please remember, the authorities do perform random checks and there are heavy fines involved, not only for the complex but, also for individuals who break the rules.
04.01.2022 Birthday shout outs and other news. A couple of Birthdays to celebrate this week. They are:... Beryl Morgan on Saturday September 26; and Barry Freeman on Sunday September 27. A big Happy Birthday to you both and, we hope you get to celebrate with family and friends. On the news front, stay tuned as we hope to give you an update on the Australian P&P Open scheduled to be played in mid November. The APPA committee are working on this and are facing the COVID 19 hassles and all the other things going on in this troublesome year. We hope to hear something in the near future and, as soon as we hear anything, rest assured it will be passed on to you. Please also keep an eye out later this week for our next instalment in our fitness tips and helpful ideas. Until next time, good golfing and see you on the fairways.
03.01.2022 Birthday shout out and, competition update. Only one Birthday this week so, a big Happy Birthday to Mark D'Arcy for Sunday (May 31). We hope you have a great day Mark Now for an update on the trial competition held on Saturday. While it was only a smallish group, give yourselves a pat on the back people. The trial went smoothly with only a couple of small hiccups. Most players stayed in or around their cars (social distancing) until it was their time to tee off, well done. Sc...ore cards were filled in correctly but, there was one person who forgot to hand a card in but did phone up later (when they got home) to apologise. Please just remember to put the card you marked, into the box provided. Given this good news, we will once again hold another trial comp this coming Saturday (May 30) so please keep up the good work and make this a regular thing. Don't forget to get a group together and get in contact with Marie and/or Charlie to let them know what time you would like to tee off and who is playing in the group. Please also make sure you get your name checked off before you head into the complex to start your round of golf. On behalf of the committee, thanks for the good work on making this trial period a success but, please do not let complacency creep in and let's stick to the rules. Good golfing and see you on the fairways.

02.01.2022 Birthday shout outs and other news. One Birthday this week. So, come on everyone, join us in helping to celebrate with Eunice Kirk. Eunice will be celebrating her Birthday on Friday, August 7 and we hope you have a wonderful day. On the "Other News" front, we are happy to announce that the deferred (from April) Club Championships will take place later this month. This years Championships has been scheduled for Friday August 21, Saturday August 22 and Sunday August 23. ... Unlike previous years, this years event will be a 54 hole tournament (instead of the usual 72 holes.) There will also be the usual 36 hole event for those that can't handle the 54 holes, on the Friday and Saturday with 18 holes being played on both days. The 54 hole event will be played as 18 holes on each of the three days mentioned above. There is a sheet on the notice board, so put your name down for either the 54 hole or, 36 hole event so we can start organising the draw and other administrative things. Am email was circulated late last week outlining all the details but, if you didn't get this communication, talk to one of the committee for full details. Good golfing and see you on the fairways.
01.01.2022 Sorry but, it's back to some "daggy dad" jokes again! Hope you enjoy them? My daughter screeched, "Daaaaaad, you haven't listened to one word I've said, have you!?" What a strange way to start a conversation with me... A slice of apple pie is $2.50 in Jamaica and $3.00 in the Bahamas. These are the pie rates of the Caribbean.... My wife tried to unlatch our daughter's car seat with one hand and said, "How do one armed mothers do it?" Without missing a beat I replied, "Single handedly." When a dad drives past a graveyard: Did you know that's a popular cemetery? Yep, people are just dying to get in there! Justice is a dish best served cold, if it were served warm it would be justwater. The fattest knight at King Arthur’s round table was Sir Cumference. He acquired his size from too much pi. MOM: "How do I look?" DAD: "With your eyes." Why can't you hear a pterodactyl go to the bathroom? Because the pee is silent. 3 unwritten rules of life... 1. 2. 3. If you see a robbery at an Apple Store does that make you an iWitness? Why did the invisible man turn down the job offer? He couldn't see himself doing it. SERVER: "Sorry about your wait." DAD: "Are you saying I’m fat? What's the best part about living in Switzerland? I don't know, but the flag is a big plus. When an ambulance zips past with its siren blaring: "They won’t sell much ice cream driving that fast. What do you call a dog that can do magic? A Labracadabrador. Why couldn't the bike stand up by itself? It was two tyred. GRANDPA: I have a 'dad bod', DAD: To me it's more like a father figure. What time did the man go to the dentist? Tooth hurt-y. What’s Forrest Gump’s password? oneforrestone A termite walks into a bar and asks, "Is the bar tender here?" How many tickles does it take to make an octopus laugh? Ten-tickles.
