10.01.2022 Going to the vet with your cat can be a stressful situation as many cats HATE going in their carrier. It is common reason why many owners avoid taking their ca...t to the vet. The key to making your cat's trip to the vet a stress free one is creating a positive association with their carrier. Leo hadn’t seen his crate for a several months but you can see he loves it this is because when he was a kitten I made sure I created a positive association with his crate. Tip 1: Start from the moment you bring you bring your kitten home this makes things a whole lot easier! Tip 2: Have the carrier in an area of the house that your cat/kitten frequents so they become very familiar with it. Tip 3: Feed meals in the crate with the door open. Tip 4: Play games in and around the create Toss toys in the crate. Tip 5: Toss treats into the crate too! Tip 6: Take your kitten for lots of short drives in their carrier for trips that don’t involve going to the vet. As you can see, Leo really enjoys his crate - he often chooses to sleep in there if I leave the crate in my living room. Any questions about teaching your cat to like (or at least tolerate) their crate, ask below. ** For tips on raising a healthy kitten, please check out the Royal Canin kitten guide - I’ll post link below
