23.01.2022 Today, Sustainability Group members from C8 and G9 harvested carrots grown using compost generated from the Canteen’s food waste! This is just one of the initiatives being undertaken by the Group whose mission is to reduce the School’s ecological impact on the land through waste management and gardening.
22.01.2022 It was great to see how engaged the Year 10 Grammar students were in this morning's workshop with Tomorrow Man called 'Man and the Mask'. The workshop explored how fear of judgement and excessive 'banter' affects individuals and the cohort as a whole. The students were also asked to consider ways in which men protect themselves or hide from situations. Thanks for raising these important issues with our students.
18.01.2022 Today, we held our annual Remembrance Day Service to pay respect to those men and women of the Australian Defence Force who have made the ultimate sacrifice. Lest We Forget. Special thanks to Asha, Lachlan and Orea of 9PDM for their wonderful photos.
16.01.2022 Yesterday, our K-2 students celebrated Australian Reading Hour, where they stopped what they were doing, and absorbed themselves in a book! So lovely to see them all finding such joy in reading!
15.01.2022 Happy World Teachers’ Day to our wonderful teaching staff. With grateful thanks for all you do, and the energy and support you provide to our students and their families.
11.01.2022 Today we held our first HEROIC Day, where the Junior School students dressed up in the spirit of our School’s core values. It was so great to see what exemplified HEROIC to all the kids: We had doctors, nurses, emergency service workers, construction workers, teachers, artists, sporting heroes, environmentalists, soldiers... and the list goes on.
10.01.2022 We celebrated the journey and milestones of our 2020 Year 12 students at their Valedictory Dinner on Friday night. It was encouraging to hear the many tributes across the School from staff, students and parents. Our Year 12 students have achieved a great deal in their time at TPHS and they should all be commended on their significant contributions. We wish them the best of luck with their HSC results and of course in the next chapter of their lives.
09.01.2022 Artists in Action Year 9 elective Visual Arts have been creating ceramic narrative vessels combining hand building techniques together with their creative visions. Keep an eye out for the links to the online Art Galleries to view these amazing works in completion. Great effort Year 9!
08.01.2022 Congratulations to Class of 2020 Year 12 students Matthew Norton (who was also nominated for ARTEXPRESS 2021), Will Hunt, Paris Ingegneri and Meg Shaw who have all been selected for inclusion in the Express Yourself 2021 exhibition at Manly Art Gallery & Museum opening in Feb 2021. Well done, all!!! Here is a sneak peek of their outstanding works
04.01.2022 Nothing beats a lesson in the pool especially on a beautiful summer day! So great to see these happy faces and hear the fun being had by our students splashing around in the pool again.
04.01.2022 Our Year 6 Debating Team have been extremely successful in the AISNSW virtual debating competition this year. After a valiant effort, Team B narrowly lost their semi-final debate yesterday, but it has been great to see the students' excellent individual progress as well as the supportive camaraderie between the two teams. Many thanks too to Mrs Webster and Mrs Garing for their coaching efforts.
03.01.2022 Tutankhamun came to TPHS today via a roadshow incursion! Not only were the History students learning how to make papyrus, write using ancient symbols and using ancient maths techniques in classrooms, they were also able to visit a replica tomb and see the King Tut trailer complete with ancient Egyptian artefacts and theatrical multi-media displays!
01.01.2022 Our Junior School students have been bringing joy to aged care residents around the Northern Beaches. Each student from Kindergarten to Year 6 has been partnered with a resident and has developed for them an artwork inspired by gratitude. As well as writing letters to their new buddies, students have also recorded a performance for them to view at their leisure. A giant thank you to Mrs Garing of P6 and Ms Francis of J6 for making this such a successful and meaningful initiative for both the students and the residents.
