09.01.2022 Despite all our best laid plans the Committee has made the difficult decision to cancel the Grand Finals this weekend due to COVID-19. Softball Australia & Sof...tball NSW, our governing bodies, have recommended that softball competitions not proceed until further notice. In addition of course we needed to consider the gravity of the current situation, and the safety of all our players, officials, spectators and their relatives. We’d considered a range of mitigation actions to try and proceed but in the end feel it is no longer possible. Postponement was also considered but it became clear this was impractical as the end of this COVID19 issue could be months away, players will be off playing other sports and grounds won’t be available for training. It’s bad luck but it’s a unique situation where we are left with no other options. On that basis we have cancelled the Grand Finals and the following will apply:- 1. We will invoke rule 17.7 - If any game in the final series is abandoned, then the team placed higher after the preliminary rounds is declared the winner of the game. The winners of each grade will be published shortly. Congratulations to the winners and we’re very sorry the runners up didn’t get their chance to challenge for the title. 2. The trophies will be distributed to each club to pass onto teams Rocky will be in touch soon. 3. All non team awards (eg. Life members award, Home Run award etc) will be presented on or around Round 1 of the new season. Details on this will follow soon. Thank you all for your understanding with this.
