25.01.2022 Proud to have been a small part of the incredible Daramu House at Barangaroo. Pixality completed the complex concrete mould for the concrete strut seen here supporting the sculptural timber and glass design. Architects @tzarchitecture designed the six-story timber Daramu House with a specific focus on renewable material and recycled hardwood blades. The visible concrete struts are virtually the only cement elements and as points of ground contact help prevent termites and rising damp . theguthrieproject (1&2) / @pixality (3) @ , '

24.01.2022 INSPIRATION: The curved lines and arches of Aube Venue in Khet Taling Chan,Thailand. Designed by PHTAA living design, the building has been created to balance being an intimate event space for friends and family to witness the wedding day of loved ones as much as it is a living photographic studio thanks to its unique design elements. The theme of the arches and the curved wall is repeated inside the building in various forms, including the sculptural staircase in the courtyard, from where the bride throws her bouquet. The arches forming both the exterior wall of the main hall and the cloistered structure overlap each other, again creating a feeling of movement while the curves are scaled down in the cornice of the arch-shaped skylights in the ceiling of the main hall. @beersingnoi / @photo.ketsiree.wongwan

21.01.2022 Concrete bridge headstocks like these require custom-made moulds to create the visually appealing smooth curves. At Pixality we can work with you to design and create custom moulds like these and many others used in civil construction .

19.01.2022 INSPIRATION: The parametric architecture of Harbin Opera House situated in the Northern Chinese city of Harbin (a UNESCO listed "City of Music") and designed by MAD Architects The curved precast concrete walls in the lobby and public areas outside the main theatre spaces are designed to allow light into the building's complex structural systems and create a bright light-filled environment for visitors. "In 2010, MAD won the international open competition ...for Harbin Cultural Island, a master plan for an opera house, a cultural center, and the surrounding wetland landscape along Harbin’s Songhua River. The sinuous opera house is the focal point of the Cultural Island, occupying a building area of approximately 850,000 square feet of the site’s 444 acres total area. It features a grand theater that can host over 1,600 patrons and a smaller theater to accommodate an intimate audience of 400." - MAD Architects Photo: Adam Mork See more

19.01.2022 An example of a planter bowl & stand complex composite mould we created for a client to then make their own GFRC/GRC/UHPC cement-based planter products .

18.01.2022 INSPIRATION: The Heydar Aliyev Center in Baku, Azerbaijan designed by Zaha Hadid Architects. The Center is designed with two collaborating systems, a concrete structure and a space frame system which is clad in both Glass Fibre Reinforced Concrete (GFRC) and Glass Fibre Reinforced Polyester (GFRP) to be able to achieve the fluid curves of the building's design. @_nancy_dc

18.01.2022 A custom concrete project that Pixality founder Kris Palasrinne project managed many years ago (mould design). An excellent design and use of curved concrete, it’s standing strong and looking just as good today along Grey Street in Brisbane (above Pourboy if you're on the lookout!)

18.01.2022 At Pixality we can create double curved and free form geometric moulds in all shapes and sizes. This unique planter module with upholstered seating using GFRC/GRC/UPPC is a great example of a project we worked on with Pop Plus (bespoke moulds for the curved corners) . @pop.plus

15.01.2022 INSPIRATION: The Shell Villa by Kotaro Ide / ARTechnic . Nestled in the forests of Karuizawa in the Nagano prefecture of Japan, the Shell Villa is a holiday home/weekender built in 2008 designed to be low maintenance and withstand the regions low temperatures and high humidity levels. One of the ways it achieves this is through the use of reinforced concrete for the majority of the structure to reduce the chance of wood-rot caused by the harsh climate. Nacasa & Partners Inc.

07.01.2022 INSPIRATION : The strategically designed off-form concrete walls at Design Orchard in Singapore. The circular openings allow light, view points (except for the mirrored holes) and ventilation without compromising the structural walls . Designed by WOHA Architects and built to nurture emerging local designers, Design Orchard is a 2.5-story development that integrates a retail showcase on the ground floor, incubation and co-working spaces on the upper floors, and an events space on the rooftop. This gives designers the resources to conceptualise, produce, and testbed their products all under one roof. Patrick Bingham-Hall
