18.01.2022 Rainy days are for for painting - I’m feeling like this ones might be finished - this watercolour painting came out of a guided meditation from the loverly Kellie Guenther . I’ve never attempted a gum tree before and I really wanted the twisty limbs and salmon rusty tones of the Sydney Apple gum, backed by the charred burnt bush post this years bushfires I guess perhaps this tree represents resilience. Her twisted form stands out as different to other trees and she becomes habitat for small bats and shiney kingfishers, her roots become a bowl for rock orchids. I also wanted the dusk, the colours of sunset which stain the world in oranges and yellows ..

17.01.2022 The beasts ( Xi Xi & ash) are helping me pack artwork today ! - I hoard bubble rap all year for this very moment . But ash seems to think it’s her toy and Xi likes to be in the middle of anything that’s happening. I did this vintage circus freak portrait of Maud Wagner a few years ago - she was one of the original tattooed ladies and I love her attitude and the idea that her tattoos would come alive and take up the space around her - it’s such a gothic piece it needed the chunky black ornate frame see you all soon at the exhibition

13.01.2022 #clientWork I've been lucky enough to be working for Core Electronics for a while now and this is a tiny sample of what I've been creating for them - I like to think of them as #infographics or diagrams with a dash of art and a geeky sense of humor. Those of you who know me will know I've played with a few microcontrollers and electronics for a couple of years now. So its super cool to be able to combine my geek love with paid work & participate in both #Newcastle and Au...stralia's #maker community. Both the Raspberry Pi Pinout ( in pink) and the Circuit Playground Express Pinout are "gifts" customers get with matched orders. Gifts that educate and grow skills, hopefully making it easer for people to make cool projects. I like to think of them as being like the toys you get in cereal packets only far far better...... 07.01.2022 #watercolour - for me watercolour is a connection to my ancestors . my grandma( I’m so lucky she’s still alive put pencils and paint in my hands from an early age and always encouraged and nurtured my creativity. When I paint with watercolours I can hear her she’s says.. leave the whites... just sneak up on it . . I’m trying to build my blacks in this one slowly, layer on layer, a combination of blacks, purples ,blues for a rich dense black that will also be studded... with stars and salt texture - it takes all my patience not to rush straight to the fun detail ! - #workinprogress. - invocation to kali burn away all that I don’t need - I had this one as a meditation vision and it demanded to be made , I’ve made a lot of devotional works for her in the past - loving the idea of a rainbow universal fire emanating from my bones .. Our idea is BIG - create a city-wide series of events over 3 weeks, with artists, performers, musicians, cafes, live music venues, theatres, and more! Already a wide variety of artists and organisations have come on board, with gigs and cool arts projects in planning right across Newcastle!
