24.01.2022 Good luck to all those receiving their lantite scores today, particularly our students

24.01.2022 I have been working with Joshua, a 9-year-old with learning disabilities, for a few months now. We began with reading, writing and spelling and every day, Josh is growing. It gave me so much joy to watch this beautiful boy learn how to spell new words, read and enjoy books and write different sentences and stories. Recently, approximately a month ago, we decided to incorporate maths into our lessons. I couldn't believe it! Josh went from knowing how to write some of the numbe...rs, to not only knowing how to add and subtract, but also to do this using mathematical sentences, in just a matter of weeks! While we still have a long way to go, we are both (and mother, who is a superstar!) determined to reach our full potential. Beyond proud of my little champion. He reminds me every day of why I love what I do and why I'm so blessed to be working with so many different children. See more

24.01.2022 Didn't get the result you wanted or currently studying for the lantite test? Don't worry, Pixel has your back. Purchase our literacy document for just $28 today or ask us about our literacy tutoring sessions! Don't wait, we have a 99% success rate!

23.01.2022 Recently, we spoke about what each side of the brain is responsible for. Today, we will be deciphering some of the deficiences that are related to the left and right hemispheres. The image shown illustrates a list of some deficiencies and the side of the brain that they fall under. Some of the most common are; Asperger's Syndrome: High intelligence and an obsessive fixation on specific topics of knowledge ... Attention Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD/ADD): Inability to focus or control impulses Autism: May exhibit complex behavioural changes or an inability to communicate normally and develop social relationships Dyslexia/Processing Disorders: Inability to differentiate the sounds of letters, which in turn makes speech, writing and reading difficult. These are some of the most common brain imbalances, however, there are a multitude of others. The level of symptoms illustrated in each child may be varied.

22.01.2022 If you are a parent, student or a teacher today, give yourself a pat on the back for getting through the first day of online learning. It wasn't easy. There were ups and downs. You didn't have a long time to prepare. But you did it. Pixel is here to help! We are providing online tutoring and are still able to run face-to-face sessions in some cases. Message us any time! :)

22.01.2022 Good luck to all our Year 12s today and on their journey into the future! We wish you the best of luck and hope you get the results you want

22.01.2022 The best motivation is hearing that our students are succeeding

22.01.2022 At 18 months, a child should be: Using at least five to ten words, including names of people and familiar things Using some words to express wants or needs, such as 'more' Pointing and gesturing to a desired object ... Starting to combine two words, such as 'all gone' Pointing to familiar body parts Getting familiar objects upon request, even if it is in another room Recognising pictures of familiar things and people Getting more accurate at imitating sounds and words Responding when his/her name is called Humming or singing simple tunes Listening and Responding to quiet speech Check if your child has reached their 18-month academic milestones by referring to the check list above

20.01.2022 What we use to assess your child's potential imbalance. -A checklist that determines whether they have a right or left brain delay -Mother and Child History and Developmental Milestones History Checklist ... -Sensory Motor, Dominance, Vestibular, Auditory, Proprioception, Tactile, Olfactory and Primitive Reflex Assessmente These will all determine which side is imbalanced. These imbalances may cause autism, dyslexia, ADHD, OCD, and other neurological disorders. We then provided physical, nutritional and academic exercises and activities catered to your childs imbalance. Book a session with your Pixel coach today

20.01.2022 This is an activity which can be used to teach any child how to spell. I used this activity to teach my autistic student his spelling words. It took a few tries to find the right method of learning but this student loves this activity and has already learnt how to spell many words. We often pair this with writing the word on a paper and drawing a picture next to it which helps him recall the word, although, he now barely needs to look at the images and can even make sentences. It's awesome to see such massive growth in our students!

20.01.2022 Hello Pixel Tutoring Family! We hope everyone is staying safe and healthy during this time. We know that it has been a little stressful for families during this time and so we have dedicated our next blog to some fun edu-activities that you and your family can do at home! ... https://pixeltutoringedu.com.au/making-the-most-of-your-da/ As a teacher myself, I know it can be a little overwhelming helping your kids with homework, particularly if the curriculum has changed since you've been at school. Please feel free to comment or inbox us if you need any help with activities you can do. We are also open to creating video content for you if you need! Just comment what you would like to see and we will follow through :) Pixel Tutoring is now offering online tutoring for all subjects available Thank you and stay safe!

20.01.2022 Check out our latest blog post 'Signs my child may have ADHD' https://pixeltutoringedu.com.au/signs-my-child-may-have-ad/... Note: this checklist does not determine that your child has ADHD. If you think your child ticks some or all of these boxes, we recommend you discuss with your child's paediatrician, teacher or a speech pathologist.

18.01.2022 As exams and reports are now coming in, parents and students have been sending me results of what their children have received. A year 8 student who I have been working with for a month (only 4 weeks with one, one hour session per week), went from failing his first SAC to achieving 68% (B grade) on his exam. Beyond proud of this champ as he worked hard to achieve this grade. This student has a learning disability but did not let this stop him! Now aiming for an 100% on our next assessment!

18.01.2022 Do you remember Tim? We spoke about him in our previous posts about brain imbalances. Let's recap! Tim has a brain imbalance with symptoms of autism. His doctors and teachers have told his parents that there is no way that these symptoms can be reduced but through a holistic brain balance program, this is possible!... Pixel and Tim's parents have completed the hemispheric checklist and the sensory-motor skills tests together to determine whether he has a left brain, right brain or mixed brain imbalance. Together, they are now going to focus on providing Tim with sensory-motor exercises, neuroacademic exercises and the correct nutrition he needs in order to develop the side of the brain that is imbalanced. Inbox or call us today to begin your 15-week brain balance program! Based on The Melillo Method of Hemispheric Integration

17.01.2022 Pixel Tutoring prides itself on providing the best service for our students. We are currently looking to hire VCE Mathematics and English tutors in the Northern Suburbs areas. The successful candidate must have achieved one or both these subjects within Victoria and must be familiar with the Victorian Curriculum. ... We are looking for individuals who are committed to helping our students succeed and who are available after 4pm on week nights. If you believe this is you, we would love to hear from you!

16.01.2022 What is neuroplasticity? Neuroplasticity is the brains ability to change, both physically and chemically. Can Functional Disconnection Syndrome be reversed? In short, yes, FDS can be reversed. That means that, when given the proper stimulation, the weaker side of the brain (either left or right) will get larger and faster, which will reverse the symptoms of FDS symptoms such as dyslexia, ADHD, autism, OCD, etc. ... How does this happen? When the weaker side is stimulated, the spaces between the cells grow smaller and new connections grow. What does this mean? New connections in the weaker hemisphere of the brain can reconnect with the more mature cells on the functioning side and get back in rhythm (this is called syncopated rhythm).

16.01.2022 One of our amazing tutors playing an awesome maths game with our student where she had to put pens on one side (this can be done with other materials) and count how many to put on the other side to equal the number (in this case, it had to equal 12)

16.01.2022 Tell us some ways that you like to study!

15.01.2022 This little champion working on his times tables. I actually showed him a different way to work out his timetables but he then changed it to suit his needs which I absolutely love He is now working out ways of learning that work for him which shows growth in his learning. So so so proud of you

15.01.2022 Did you know? Brain Imbalances, also known as Functional Disconnection Syndrome (FDS), is when the two hemispheres- right and left- of the brain, are not synchronised. This means that at some stage during birth or the early years of a child's being, one side of the brain begins to mature faster than the other, and your child may develop a brain imbalance which can lead to dyslexia, ADHD, autism, etcetra. ... Although we are saddened that we are unable to currently provide in-home tutoring to all our families, we will be using this time to provide online tutoring (Melbourne, Canberra, Queensland and Sydney) and dropping knowledge about activities that you can do at home as a family to stimulate the two sides of the brain, particularly the side which may be lacking stimulation

14.01.2022 Learning is essential to achieve any goal in life. We should encourage our children and students to always strive to be their best. Education should uplift students to want to be better and to do better, not just in the classroom, but in the world. Whether working in a trade, for a company, or owning a company, people are constantly learning. Encouraging each other to believe in Education, to motivate each other and to believe in oneself are all key factors of having strong, successful and happy students.

14.01.2022 Our client's text to our amazing tutor after sitting their Literacy Lantite. This client booked in 4 sessions with our tutor plus bought our booklet to help study and said she felt more confident! goodluck to all those sitting!

14.01.2022 This week, we will be running through the academic milestones that children should reach at stages in their development. At the age of six months, children should be: Making many different sounds, including laughing, gurgling and cooing ... Reacting to tone of voice, especially if it is loud or angry Turning in the direction of new sounds, such as toys that rattle or squeak Babbling to get attention, using sounds that include p, b, and in. Smiling when spoken to Indicating a need for something through sound or gesture. Use this checklist to determine whether your child has reached their 6 month milestones

14.01.2022 Learning is about more than studying. A healthy mind breeds better focus and increases results in all areas. This starts with exercise and a healthy diet.

14.01.2022 Studies show a link between learning and behavior disorders and the early health history of either mother or child. Tim, his Pixel Coach and his parents have completed the hemispheric checklist which shows that Tim has an imbalanced right brain. Next, they will look at the mother and child histroy checklist, will check vital signs and will go through a developmental milestones checklist to determine whether Tim has missed any of his milestones. ... Some milestones that could have been delayed, occurred too early or been missed include: ~Bringing hands near the face by the end of their first month ~Opening and shutting hands by the end of the third month ~Rolling over both ways by the end of their seventh month These are only a few of the milestones that Tim could have missed. For a full comprehensive test, call or message us to book a session with your Pixel Coach today

13.01.2022 At the age of two, a child should: Use two or three word 'sentences' such as 'no want' and 'no go' Have a vocabulary of approximately 200-300 words and use about 150 regularly Show affection for familiar people ... Express simple desires or needs for familiar things or actions through speaking rather than pointing Refer to self by name rather than 'me' or 'I' Ask 'why' questions, such as 'what that?' Or 'where kitty?' Understand simple questions and commands Name familiar pictures Use this check list to determine whether your child has reached their two-year old milestones

13.01.2022 A friend and I have been working on something for our fellow teachers :) If there are any aspiring teachers about to face the dreaded Lantite (literacy & numeracy test) please inbox me. I have passed both components and have further studied the elements of the test, in addition to the relevant skills to achieve the standards. Thus far, I have developed a #cheatcode document for the literacy component with a 93% success rate. The document is over 100 pages containing tips to pass the test, activities (grammar, reading, punctuation, language conventions, spelling, etc), furrher links to resources and extensive answers (each answer is explained in detail). This document is $20 :) we also offer tutoring sessions for 45$!

13.01.2022 ~Checking and Reading Vital Signs for an Imbalance~ When children are born, their heart and respiratory rate are quite rapid and their blood pressure is relatively high. As higher areas of the brain develop, the heart rate and breathing rate slow down and blood pressure drops. At age three, the cerebral cortex should begin to take over and inhibit primitive reflexes that have been supporting vital functions since birth. If these vital functions are still too rapid at age thre...e, it is a sign that the brain is immature for your child's chronological age. Prior to commencing our program, we assess your child's heart rate, breathing rate and blood pressure. We continue to monitor this throughout our program to check that these vitals are showing maturity for your child's chronological age. Note: A blood pressure different of 10 points or more can be caused by an imbalance in one area of the brain. If you would like to know more about how you can check your child's vital signs at home, about our brain balance program or if you have further questions, comment below, inbox or call us for more details

12.01.2022 Proud to announce that Pixel Tutoring is now a sponsor of the 'Streetsmart handbook. For those of you who don't know, the Streetsmart handbook has been delivered to teenagers at secondary schools with the aim of helping to educate our youth on important topics relevant to them as they transition into adult life. At Pixel Tutoring, we believe it is important that children be led into the right path of life and the Streetsmart handbook, along with the tutoring our students receive, can work to better student education.

12.01.2022 An activity that one of our tutors did with one of our students. This is not only a good way to teach the 5 senses, but also helps students to think of describing words that they could use in the narrative writing. Often children struggle with remembering to add description. You could also help the student by going around their house and having them point out things they may feel, see, touch, smell and taste. You can add on to this while you're doing reading or when the child's vocabulary starts to grow.

12.01.2022 Always remember, the tortoise beat the hare

11.01.2022 The brain balance program focuses on stimulating the side of the brain that is imbalanced in children with autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and other neurological disorders through sensory-motor exercises, neuroacademic exercises and, bionutritional activities. The program runs for 3 months beginning with assessing your child followed by providing exercises that will help stimulation using the three pillars of brain development listed above. Pixel Tutoring has been working hard to s...tudy The Melillo Method Brain Balance Program and we are excited to announce that we will be rolling out this program within the next few months. 08.01.2022 Meet Tim. Tim is a 10-year old boy who suffers from a brain imbalance. The symptoms of autism that he illustrates make it difficult for him to form relationships at school and he struggles academically. These are only some of the symptoms of autism that Tim displays but these symptoms alone make it difficult for him to thrive. Why? ... Tim has an imbalance between the left sides and the right side of his brain. His right side is the weaker side of the brain. Why is it important that there is a balance between the right and left brain? Without this rhythm, there is a disconnect and the two sides cannot effectively share and integrate information. Tim and his parents have been told by doctors, teachers, and pediatricians that there is nothing they can do to balance out the two sides of the brain but further research into the Brain Balance program shows that, through stimulation of the side that is lacking, this is possible. Resources: Disconnected Kids, Dr Robert Melillo

04.01.2022 The opportunity to work with children with brain imbalances, particularly children on the autism spectrum, has opened up a fresh perspective on life. Many parents with children on the spectrum tell me about the difficulties they faced with the child, including constant crying and screaming in different or new environments and not understanding how to use the toilet and having to be in nappies till a later age (some still at 7 years old). Parents have told me of how they've c...ried or had to seek help, of the embarrassment they felt when people would stare, or worse, say something cruel. This is only the effect on parents, imagine the effects on the child. Seeing this has not only made me more grateful for the life that I live, but also has pushed me into wanting to shed more light on brain imbalances and how we may be able to work to balance the left and the right hemisphere, so that we are able to reduce the effects of these imbalances. Here are some facts for you: *1 in 70 people in Australia have been diagnosed with Autism *1 in 20 children have been diagnosed with ADHD *1 in 10 people have been diagnosed with Dyslexia This figure is recent and shows that there has been an increase in brain imbalances over the years. There are a number of factors that come into play which I will be dissecting in future

04.01.2022 Some feedback from one of our lovely clients about one of our tutors, Marethe. Marethe has been with our company for a few months now and is loved by both of our clients and her students alike. She is dedicated to her students and loves working with them. Well done Marethe :)

03.01.2022 Do you or your child find what to write in the explanation section of your TEEL paragraph confusing? Don't worry! This is a common factor which we have noticed in many students. More often than not, students tend to focus on retelling the story, however, the focus should be on anaylsing the language behind the text/quote and how this relates to the prompt. Some questions to ask yourself while writing your explanation:... Once you have your quote or symbolism, ask: -How does this relate to the prompt? -What is the authors intention? -How does this relate to the context of the novel? (Ie, what was happening at the time the novel was created for the author to write the way they did?) -What does this quote/symbol show about the themes/characters? -Does your prompt require you to show changes in characters? We hope this helped

02.01.2022 Something that is common in most students which we have noticed across all ages is a lack of confidence. Lack of confidence is currently one of the leading causes of children struggling in school. So what can you do to help boost your child's confidence? At Pixel Tutoring, we have begun an initiative at the beginning of our lessons where we gets students to write/tell us 5 positive affirmations or 5 things that they love about themselves. This enables us to start our sessions in a positive manner and also increases confidence levels which in turn, helps to boost work production levels. Here is an example of our students list plus their work!

02.01.2022 We begin your 15-week Brain Balance Program by going through the hemispheric checklist with you to determine whether your child has a deficiency in the right, left or both hemispheres. Assessments can occur at three months of age and above to determine whether your child has hemispheric weakness, the cause of symptoms such as autism, dyslexia, aspergers and ADHD. Call Us Today to begin to work with us to help your child.

02.01.2022 Had the proudest moment this week. My student went from writing around 3 lines for a story, to not only being able to write a plan, but also 2-3 pages of a narrative that he came up with all on his own! This particular student has learning difficulties and is on the spectrum but works super hard and has grown so much
