06.01.2022 The Quaint Little Bookshop Oh! that queer little bookshop Standing so quiet.. At a corner of the London town square... Unnoticed by the passing street horde Ivy rambling up the rickety windows And the orange bricked walls Magic drove me in through the wooden oak door Dust motes dancing like fireflies In the dim fluroscence of the yellow lights My own little world - my own.. my own I traced my fingers... Along the golden initials embossed On those faded red leather bindings I closed my eyes.. And breathed in that aroma of knowledge, of time Carefully flipping over the fragile yellow pages Some crumbling into delicate snowflakes Oh! the words.. the words... Beautiful !! Somebody in the distant past Must have sat down by a desk at a window.. And let those beautiful thoughts Seep into the leaves of a manuscript And dreamt of seeing their own name Printed in a volume in a bookshelf.. And a girl like me to ponder about it so much To find them all dead and gone And the mysteries unresolved... Inspired by the Picture #Piyumi
