25.01.2022 Feeling charitable in the lead up to the festive season? Whether you dig deep to support your favourite charity or drop five bucks into a donation bucket you need a receipt to be able to claim a deduction at tax time. For it to be a genuine donation you must not be receiving anything in return. Amounts paid to charities in exchange for goods such as calendars are not donations. If your business receives recognition in exchange for a donation this could come under advertising & marketing instead. For your donation to be deductible, it must be for $2 or more and made to whats called a deductible gift recipient (DGR).
