14.01.2022 NSW most popular destination for international visitors The government of New South Wales has been working hard to increase the number of Chinese and Indian travellers opting to make short- and long-term visits to the state ... Premier Barry O'Farrell explained that China and India has a "massive middle class" that is eager to travel overseas and see the world, and organisations around New South Wales are well placed to benefit from this. It's paying off. "New South Wales is the main driver of growth for the entire country - achieving almost double the national average growth in expenditure," announced Mr O'Farrell in a December 31 statement. Mr O'Farrell revealed that New South Wales is now the most popular destination in the whole country, both for national and international visitors. This is largely due to an unprecedented boost in the number of Chinese travellers coming to the state. Over the past year, this number has increased by a whopping 18 per cent to reach 28.5 million visitors. That means New South Wales is now welcoming more short- and long-term visitors from India than New Zealand!

09.01.2022 The Maritime Crew (subclass 988) Visa (MCV) Scam The Department of Immigration and Border Protection is warning people of a scam involving the maritime crew visa (MCV). Unscrupulous operators are charging people large sums of money (the equivalent of several thousand Australian dollars), to allegedly arrange an employment contract and visa for employment on maritime vessels traveling to or working in Australia.... Some MCV visas are automatically granted online. These agents lure gullible clients by showing them what appear to be valid visas on the departmental website. However, where these visas are obtained based on fraudulent claims these are subject to cancellation. These visas allow entry to Australia as a legitimate crew member on a vessel by sea only. An MCV does not permit travel by air to Australia. A separate visa is required for that purpose. The Australian High Commission is unable to verify employment offers from Australian companies. Job-seekers are strongly advised to verify all job offers using publicly available contact details for the relevant companies. Information on applying for Australian visas is available on this and the department's website www.immi.gov.au. Should you believe that you are the victim of a scam, you should report it to your local police and may wish to report it via the website www.scamwatch.gov.au.

01.01.2022 28 May 2014 AUSTRALIAN HIGH COMMISSION REACHES TOURISM MILESTONE The Australian High Commission in New Delhi is celebrating a new landmark - for the first time ...in its history it has issued more than 100,000 tourism visas to Indians in a single financial year. Australias High Commissioner to India, Mr Patrick Suckling, held a brief ceremony at his Residence to mark the achievement. The High Commissioner felicitated New Delhi resident Mr Manoj Saraogi, who received the 100,000th tourism visa issued in the 2013-14 Australian financial year.* Mr Saraogis wife and two children also attended the event. Mr Saraogi and his family will leave New Delhi next week for a holiday to The Gold Coast, Cairns, Melbourne and Sydney. Mr Suckling gave Mr Saraogi and his wife a gift to mark the occasion- two free Bridge Climb vouchers, which will allow them both to climb to the top of the Sydney Harbour Bridge, and get a birds eye view of Sydneys beautiful harbour. Im sure Mr Saraogi and his family will have a wonderful time in Australia, Mr Suckling said. They will not only get the chance to enjoy Sydneys iconic sights, they will also be able to relax on the Gold Coasts stunning beaches, and explore one of the worlds greatest living treasures- The Great Barrier Reef. Mr Suckling said Mr Saraogi and his family will join an increasing number of Indians who are traveling to Australia for tourism, business, and to visit friends and family. The number of Indian visitors to Australia in the first three months of 2014 jumped by 10 per cent, fueled by increasing numbers of tourists, and people visiting friends and family within the growing Indian diaspora in Australia, Mr Suckling said. Tourism is vital part of the broader bilateral relationship between India and Australia, and we expect that these numbers will keep on growing.
