25.01.2022 An interesting poll from Councillor Buchan... what do you say?
25.01.2022 It appears the town centre may still be a while away judging by the comment of the developer against an issue in the officer's report to the planning committee: "A detailed assessment of the commercial viability has been undertaken by Taktics4 as outlined in the supporting Local Centre Strategy report. Development of the centre will not occur until such time as an appropriate demand can be demonstrated to support the viability of the commercial tenancies."... 25.01.2022 Officer's report can be seen within the agenda of Monday night's Planning and Engineering Services Committee meeting. The PKPA would like to thank the city officers for their hard work and attention to detail. There were 26 recommendations for the committee to consider in asking the developer to alter the current plan. The full report can be read here: https://rockingham.wa.gov.au//planning-and-engineering-ser
25.01.2022 It appears the developer has updated the Kennedy Bay Development website. The tag on the main page says "The reimagination of an unutilised, pristine waterfront destination." ...Not sure that's how we'd describe it. https://www.kennedybayinfo.com.au.
24.01.2022 A very happy and safe new year to all!
24.01.2022 One of the more fascinating quotes from the officers report on the Kennedy Bay development: "With respect to public submissions received, 34 submissions were identified as duplicates. These were broken down as follows: 1. Pro-forma submissions (16); 2. The same submission from the different members of same household (2); and... 3. The same landowner relating to different properties (16). It is noted that the landowner of the Structure Plan area, WABGR, submitted 17 identical submissions for each nearby vacant lots in its ownership located in proximity to the Structure Plan. These submissions were considered as a single matter." The full report can be seen here: https://rockingham.wa.gov.au//planning-and-engineering-ser

21.01.2022 "That a Primary School site be provided within the Structure Plan area in accordance with Liveable Neighbourhoods, and that consideration be given to co-locating the Primary School with POS." Another recommendation from the officers report on the local structure plan for the Kennedy Bay development which overrides the developer's view of "In accordance with the provisions of Liveable Neighbourhoods, the anticipated lot yield for the Structure... Plan area does not trigger the need or provision of any additional primary or high school facilities within the site." See more

16.01.2022 From today's Sound Telegraph... Good write up that captures the community voice. The irony of the page 14 continuation being placed next to an advertisement for the golf course (#1 public access in WA) which is being demolished and rebuilt for the new estate (though plans are not public) doesn't escape us!

10.01.2022 Heads up on a prescribed burn tomorrow in Port Kennedy. We wonder if they're has been coordination with the group undertaking golf course renovation planning and question the roles of each party given there is no management order on lot 3007. It all goes well and decreases risk of bushfire over summer months.
