25.01.2022 RECYCLED MARBLE RUN We used cardboard rolls, plastic cups, a biscuit insert and a box from easter but you can use what ever you have got. We covered the rolls in contact and glued on magnets (cut up a real estate calendar) and then gave it a go. We are making lots of modifcations as we go...you can too! HOT TIPS... Use strong magnets at pressure points where the marble will drop into the run. Use hot glue if you have it, the PVA didn't set well and took ages to dry. Glue the magnet on first and contact around it or paint it, athe glue didn't like the contact. In larger rolls make cuts about a centremetre apart to be able to create bends. See more

25.01.2022 Ideas for those keeping your kids at home.... I'm trying my hardest to keep some sanity in my house hold and get these ideas out to you all..... of course my surface chose now to reject Facebook.... so hopefully some photos will cut it for now. I have completed the learning areas of English and Maths and hope to have the rest out soon. I know some of you are starting tomorrow. Don't overwhelm yourself and please shout out if I can answer any questions or help out.

23.01.2022 My son had the last three days off school this week as he wasnt very well. I saw these cute little people somewhere on Pinterest or Instagram (sorry i dont remember where and cant credit to original post) a while ago and wanted to try them. So we sat down together and made some. Imagine a whole class of individual ones. You could do animals or monsters as well. It was so much fun and really simple with lots of room for individual creativity. Give it a go!

22.01.2022 Today we played rhyming and syllable games using our phonics phones. We also found some small whiteboards to use for writing and spelling practice. Miss E even got chosen as star of the day at school so she helped with some special jobs like watering our sprouts

18.01.2022 Today's plan was to go for a walk and find some natural objects, bring them home and create an art work.... however, miss 3 insisted she needed to ride her scooter but wouldn't go off the footpath. So instead of a nice relaxing walk on our local trail we headed along the highway and let the dog have some fun at the oval. Miss 3 carried her scooter almost the whole way and I carried it home. So for art today I opted for some simple drawing of animals starting with basic sh...apes. I found this blog that was very helpful and Mr7 really liked doing them and got a great sense of achievement Miss 3 lost interest after a couple but that's ok. It was a good opportunity to solidify basic shape knowledge and practice some pencil control. 16.01.2022 This was this mornings art (probably more like craft) project. I love the ones with the finger prints hanging down. Was a great opportunity to talk about position and balancing the art work.

14.01.2022 I just listened to Maggie Dent on the play first summit.... her words speak so much to me. As the mother of a boy who struggles with controlling his physicality her words reassured me that we are doing pretty good. Please educators and parents learn about raising boys through Maggie, we can make a world of difference when we understand more.

10.01.2022 We are loving the garden at this time of year and the current situation definitely calls for some home grown food. I was lucky to find these seeds at my local hardware a few days ago. We saw one of the seeds actually start to change before we even finished. We can't wait to taste them.... lots of language, reading the packets and science panned in to this fun and nutritious activity.

05.01.2022 Not sure where to start the day? I start with the day and date, we sing the days of the week song and go through the months of the year. Mr Yr2 writes the short version of the date on our shared whiteboard and has a go at writing the long version on his own whiteboard. We also see how many days we have been at school this year. Today was 43 Miss Kindy drew 4 circles and 3 circles and had a go at writing the numbers. Mr Yr2 worked out how many tens and ones and we did some adding and subtracting to the number 43.... reading, writing, sounding and maths all in a short session.

03.01.2022 It is technically pupil free week in WA (western Australia) but we still need to keep busy or there will be chaos. So we will be having an art week. Check in each day and I will fill you in on our work. I have some art materials left over from the Christmas holidays so we are using those, pretty sure i got them from kmart and office works. We used washy tape to tape the canvas. This was a good opportunity to talk shape and angle as both my kids wanted to do straight line...s across the canvas. I deliberately only used one paintbrush each so I could teach them how to really care for the paint and brushes. I told them about loading the brush carefully by taking small scoop in the pot rather than dunking the brush in. I demonstrated how to remove excess paint from the brush when finished to conserve the paint and how to really clean the brush between uses. We all chose the color and shape then smoothed the tape down to ensure no bleeding of the paint. It took almost an hour to complete the painting and both Mr7 and Miss 3 were totally engaged the whole time. We even had a go at mixing some of our own colours. We love the end result so much Dad is going to do one and we will hang them as a set. Art day 1 declared a success

03.01.2022 Super sized popsticks made into cute pencil names. I can see them in a jar for name selecting or add Velcro or magnets to the back for group work or job allocation. Really easy to make and a nice gift to the kids at the end of the year. I got a pack of 30 at price savers for $3.00 but I I have seen them in kmart also.
