23.01.2022 Happy and safe travels to our beautiful staff members Kowunduh and Pearl. They are taking off today on an amazing 1 year trip around Australia where they will be going on adventures, working along the way and connecting with Indigenous artists to source pieces and products to bring back to our beautiful shop here in the heart of Byron Bay on Bundjalung Country. You can follow their journey too by following @_yumbalay_ to see what they get up to and the places they see. It’s... so sad to see these two go but we are so proud and excited for them both to be going on this journey but don’t worry we will be following you both very closely. Recently we had a young lady sell us her collection of gems she had inherited from her grandfather in Melbourne. She was from overseas and could not take them all home. As a local Gumbaynggirr woman, my foraging events are more than a study of plants! I also weave in wisdom inherited from my Elder's around connectivity to Country and share why ritual is an essential aspect of foraging. I provide ethical considerations regarding interaction with Country and discuss ways all humans can make a difference to our global wellbeing through developing healthy relating with our other-than-human kin. 05.01.2022 Jingi Wala, Vacation care at Clunes Public School Friday on the 2nd October is Seeking a Bundjalung Artist for 2 hours from 10am to 12 noon to facilitate an art project all the students can participate in either a large piece or individual smaller pieces. I envisage Q&A throughout the morning about art and being Indigenous. We would love if participant had access to some bush tucker food that we would pay for as well as provide the visitor with a BBQ lunch. We believe that the flag should be freed so that Indigenous Australians and non-Indigenous Australians may enjoy the flag and celebrate Aboriginal culture more freely without restrictions.
