05.01.2022 NON-NDIS REGISTERED SUPPORT WORKERS When the core section of a plan is plan managed, the financial intermediary can basically pay anyone from that section of the NDIS plan, as long as they are not family. So, there is no need to only use NDIS registered providers for plan managed plans, that is one of the big advantages of using a NDIS financial intermediary, such as Plan Managers. It gives you so much more choice in terms of the core supports you can choose. As long as the p...rovider has an ABN, a bank account, can produce a numbered tax invoice with details of the participants name, date of service, duration of service, rate charged and total charged, we can process and pay them up to the NDIS price caps through core supports. So, think outside the box when considering support workers. You may have a close family friend (but not a family member), a trusted neighbour or know a Uni student who might have an ABN and want to work in the NDIS space for you? We can pay them from a plan managed NDIS plan up to the NDIS core price caps. See more

01.01.2022 OUT OF FUNDS The NDIS are rejecting many provider payment claims currently. The NDIS' opening position is that the funding in a plan is the reasonable and necessary funding allocated to that plan. Anything spent beyond that amount thus doesn't meet the reasonable and necessary criteria and therefore the NDIS are refusing to fund the overspend. So if you look like you will run out of funds before the end of your plan, you really need to be proactive and demonstrate that you h...ave submitted a Change of Circumstance to the NDIS BEFORE the plan ends and BEFORE the funding runs out. You also need to be able to demonstrate that the plan funding provided was not reasonable and necessary and is thus inadequate. The NDIS need to acknowledge this request also. Providers also need to be able to demonstrate that they have provided supports in accordance with their service agreement with the participant/nominee and not assume any extra spending will be picked up by the NDIS. The monitoring of spending by your plan manager is crucial but it is also incumbent on providers to submit invoices in a timely manner, otherwise spend monitoring is a futile exercise and won't necessarily indicate there is a problem.
