23.01.2022 Respect & Acknowledgement In Australia, we are so spoilt for choice when it comes to beautiful places to marry the love of our life. So, with such wonderful lands on which to celebrate our marriages, wouldn't it be awesome to see more couples acknowledging the Traditional Custodians of these lands within our ceremonies? At PWP, we believe strongly in supporting, respecting and acknowledging Australia's Traditional Owners in our weddings and are fully equipped to help ...you if you want to explore the different ways in which you can pay your respects on your wedding day Here are a few ways to get the ball rolling for you: Ask your celebrant to include an 'Acknowledgement of Country' in your ceremony to pay respects to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander heritage and the ongoing relationship of traditional owners with the land you stand upon. Include a Smoking Ceremony - a ceremony performed by Traditional Land Owners to cleanse places and people of bad spirits to promote the wellbeing of people and guests on Country. Include music by the Yidaki (Didgeridoo) or dance performance (Corroboree) from local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Teach yourself more about the wedding traditions of First Nations People and speak with Communities about how you can incorporate some of their traditions in your own celebrations to pay your respects Make the voices of Australia's history heard during your wedding day celebrations and give thanks for the beautiful grounds on which you marry the love of your life. There are no words right now - so instead, for your viewing pleasure, we leave you with one hell of a kick-ass wedding with all of our fave things: a fun wedding party, wedding boots, and a non-traditional inclusion of a handfasting ritual. Let it be an inspiration for the day when we are free to go nutso planning weddings again Until then, be bloody safe, wear your masks, and stay at h...ome. We are always just a zoom call away if you need a commiseration cocktail To our couples, call anytime - together, we can conquer anything PWP x Thanks for the rad @assassynation

19.01.2022 Looking for a wedding crew with a sustainable focus - look no further! The amazing Diana at Dragonfly & magnolia is creating her favourites list for you to check out

17.01.2022 When do you shop for your wedding attire? Sometimes the process of shopping for your wedding outfit and accessories can be just as ritualistic as the wedding itself! You have some drinks, you are the center of attention for the day and there are potentially a lot of tears over 'the one' There can also be hurt feelings over guest lists, differences of opinion and budget blowing... As with any advice we give here at PWP, we want to let you know there are no rules when it comes to who you have with you when you set off on the adventure of hunting down what to wear that's going to make you feel amazing on your big day. If you want to take your whole tribe - go nuts, just your Mum (or your partners Mum) - do it. Wanna shop solo? Oh man, we get it. Diplomacy is your friend here. Those who care about you will understand your decisions. Buying your wedding attire is a big moment and can be super emotional, do what makes you feel the most comfortable and at ease. For some people, buying their outfit is the first thing they do and we help them design their wedding around their outfits. Others, choose to plan first and then buy something that suits how their wedding vision is taking place. There is no right or wrong. You do you! And lastly. We repeat there are no rules! Suits, dress, sari, robes, costume, traditional dress, birthday suit, body paint - whatever! However you identify and want to express yourself on your wedding day, wear what makes you feel happy. We simply can't wait to see what you choose PWP x P.S We would choose this star fabric a million times over from @rachel_burgess_bridal_boutique if we did the wedding thang again - perhaps as a big ass cape of stars? 17.01.2022 Killer Stationery Do you know the rules when it comes to sending out your save the dates, wedding invitations and thank you cards? No?... Great - because there are none! BUT, do make sure you include some killer stationery in your day, because god damn - this is some seriously epic works out there that can seriously add some fabulous fun, colour, and design to your special day Here is our little guide when it comes to your stationery: If you are having a destination wedding, shoot some save the date cards out to your guests at least 12 months before your wedding date Get your official invitations out around 6 - 9 months before your wedding date to give guests time to book accommodation, baby sitters, take time off work, plan their outfits, etc. You can team up your stationery with a free wedding website (like @joytheapp) so you can keep the design on your invites simple and minimalistic and leave the bulky info to your website Keep the theme of your save the dates and invitations running through your welcome sign, seating charts, menu cards, and more for continuity in your styling - there's nothing like some gorgeous stationery to really just nail that wedding look! And we know the perfect small business you can get your wedding stationery designed and printed through.... A massive shout out to fellow @mrtheordoreweddings directory fam, master stationery designer @quilldesignau Heidi is a whizz kid at stationery and our current insta crush - there's not a single thing designed over there that doesn't take our breath away! 17.01.2022 When you do it, do it well As a couple, there are always things that are more important than others based on how you spend you life together. So, when it comes to your wedding, the same rules should apply ... If you love music, bring in the mightiest of bands If you are super foodies, get that caterer that goes the extra mile If you both have an eye for design, perhaps the theme and style of your wedding will be of top priority Working with a wedding planner means there is someone dedicated to getting you know YOU as a couple and has all the right tools and connections to get those priorities out of you and flowing through your wedding Sometimes, this looks like purchasing wedding planning services. But sometimes, this can just be as simple as having a wedding advisor Weve broken down our monster planning and coordination package (which you can most certainly still have if you wish) into each individual service so you pay for only what you need Check out the link in bio to see our services broken into minute parts, and custom create your own unique package that suits your level of involvement, research, organisation and planning We are all about the unique - its only fair our packages are the same! 16.01.2022 You, me and...them On your wedding day, the celebrations are truly all about you as a couple and acknowledging the love you have for one another It is YOUR wedding day, but it also belongs to others who love you. Parents who raised you, friends who have stood by you, lifelong relationships who have also been with you through the good times and the bad... This doesn't mean they get a say, or are allowed to make decisions on your behalf, but it is always a wonderful gesture to acknowledge your guest's presence and support in your life during your wedding celebrations. There are many great ways to do this without compromising on what is important to you: Asking your celebrant to acknowledge your guests and include a thank you during your ceremony Thanking your guests for being there with you and for you during your speeches If your budget permits, arranging for small wedding favors to be at their place setting with a small handwritten note Instead of having a blank guest book for your guests to sign, create a beautiful scrapbook with photos of you, your lover and your guests and they can write messages to you next to their own photo - maybe you can even leave them a little message to thank them too... Asking your guests to submit their song choices so you can have a playlist created by those you love most Our friends and family walk alongside us as we create families of our own and honouring their journey with us is such a beautiful touch to your wedding celebrations PWP x by @studioxiiiphotography

15.01.2022 Wedding chill How do you maintain your wedding chill while planning your wedding? It's no secret that wedding planning can be a tricky customer and no one wants to get to their special day feeling exhausted and sick of it all... So here are a few tips from us on how you can remain cool as a cucumber in the lead up to your wedding (just like these cool cats shot by @jonathanephoto) Take regular breaks from planning. It helps you refocus, reclaim your cool and keeps you on the right path Maintain constructive conversations with your partner around wedding chat. Don't let silly arguments get the better of you Schedule times to talk wedding, don't let it become the only thing you talk about (even though it is super exciting!) If you don't agree on something, take a break, let it go and then revisit it at a later stage when you've both had some time to think more about the outcome you want Be mindful of who you allow to have opinions on your wedding - if you take everyone's opinion on board, it may all get very overwhelming very fast Let's get you to the day of your wedding without anyone mentioning the words ending with 'zilla' around you Need help reclaiming your cool? Check out our 'Nurturing your relationship throughout the planning process' workshops that we are now running totally online https://www.planningwithpurpose.com.au/workshops What are you gonna do for maximum wedding chill? 13.01.2022 Oh, those first look vibes Bonus points for the gorgeous bouquets and brick backdrop. Hang in there beautiful people. PWP x

12.01.2022 Wedding shoes Such a small detail, but something major to consider. Remember, you'll be in those bad boys for most of the day, so make sure you buy something comfortable. Have a second pair, bring bandaids or wear your shoes in before the big day And it's not just you that needs to be considered...... Let's be honest, most weddings include a fair amount of outrageous dancing, so keep your guests comfy too! One option is to take a leaf out of the Brazilian wedding playbook where couples arrange for custom thongs to be handed out to everyone for dancing that matches the wedding theme and have their initials on them - a super cute gift for all genders and a kind token to keep their guests comfy We think this is a super cute idea by the way, don't you just know you'd be comfy all night long in these stunners shot by @foxandfilmphoto - who's rocking boots like these for their wedding?! PWP x

11.01.2022 Unique venues The silver lining for some couples amidst all this COVID malarky is that they aren't feeling the pressure to have a big wedding, which means, you don't necessarily need to pick a "wedding venue" to host your celebrations And this is awesome, because, if you're like us, you love things done a little differently and jazzing up a funky little unique venue is just about one of our favourite things. ... The sky is the limit and you can let your imagination roam free sourcing out quirky little spots to host your mini wedding In Sydney, our top spots we've found so far are: @herecoworking (the viewing deck) @thefenwick (upstairs is exclusively yours!) @UrbanWinerySydney (winery wedding - yes please) @freedomhuborg (a purpose-driven venue) Hunting down something that suits your personality, personal style and budget is tonnes of fun and we know all the best spots to hit! Who says COVID is a massive downer? Let's make lemons here folks PWP x A gorgeous London venue in our old hood shot by the remarkable @jakeowensphoto - ooof that marble!

11.01.2022 When do you ask for help? If there is one word that people generally tend to use when they talk about planning a wedding, they usually use the word stress But how do you know when what you are experiencing is everyday regular wedding stress (you know, that same normal stress that comes with planning a big event, taking a big step, trying something new and so on) and when what you are feeling is becoming unusual or unhealthy?... Knowing when to ask for help, delegate, and take a step back is a key skill when planning out your wedding. Yes they are hard, but if you feel like the process is overwhelming, overly emotionally, it's keeping you up at night or it's creating tension in your relationship, then have the presence of mind to call it out and ask a professional or trusted friend or family member to jump in and help Everyone is different, and everyone handles situations differently. Asking for help in planning your wedding is NEVER a bad thing or makes you look like you don't have things under control - it just means you're smart and have your priorities in the right place Plus, there are so many bloody talented wedding vendors out there just waiting to help - give them something to do now that the world is emerging from the COVID-19 nightmare (like the legends who created this stunning floral arrangement @be_designed) If it's all too much, reach out - marrying the love of your life should feel like the greatest moment. And we just want to see you enjoy it, your relationship (and you) deserve it PWP x

10.01.2022 What is an Alternative Wedding? We love to hear the words unique, different, outrageous and daring thrown around when talking about weddings with couples But what does this mean to you? ... When dreaming up your ideal wedding, if you are throwing words like these around, where are they placed and what does having something different look like? If you dont know yet and all you know is that you dont want a typical wedding - play a fun game where you note down all the things that make you NOT want the normal Do you think that all weddings are the same? Are you nervous about being the centre of attention? You wonder how your personal style as a couple could possibly translate into something that even remotely looks like a wedding? Are you having trouble escaping inviting a million people? And ready, here we go. The one time you WILLhear us use the word normal: It is completely normal to feel like a traditional wedding just isnt right for you So reach out if the norm not your thing. COVID is making us all chase a new normal anyway - lets apply this crazy shit to our weddings DM us now for packages and workshops on starting a new movement; Alternative is the new black PWP x @sarahjbermanphoto - damn this graffiti wall! A stunningly unique background for a stunningly gorgeous couple See more

10.01.2022 Doing it your way While we finish off the last of our Easter egg chocolate, weve been thinking a lot about authenticity in weddings One of our favourite things and the thing that makes every wedding unique are the small touches you include in your day (or dont include for those rebels out there)... It could be a dish from your first date, a colour you both love, a representation of two cultures joining together, a reading during the ceremony. Or it could be as bold as having an entire theme (like a pulp fiction themed wedding), throwing an anti-wedding, hosting a wedding rave. It can be literally anything that you want. We read an awesome blog recently from @rocknrollbridemagazine where a couple had included handmade touches to create their own special Harry Potter theme - and their whole squad got behind it and some seriously awesome decor was produced Our point is, dont be afraid to stray away from the normal and go with what is authentically you. We love guests reactions when they sit down at their tables, see these little details and laugh at how much it reminds them of the couple getting married In an industry we are so spoilt by choice, always choose what makes you genuinely happy, fits your personal budget and most of all, reveals your uniqueness as a couple. Its a journey that promotes wedding fun and is a unique reflection of your love PWP x @pretty_factory | @lauramoellemann | @nimmplatz | @fawntastique.de | @lapetite_bellarose - gosh damn - you captured our hearts with these shots. Tech decks with macrons? You must have slipped into our fantasies and known this would capture our hearts!!

10.01.2022 Wedding suits My god if there arent some gorgeous looking suits out there, making you feel all special on your wedding day And who says they are just for the fellas... Guys, girls and marriers of all genders can rock out in a badass suit. You could even pop your whole wedding party in some fancy suit threads Be bold and flaunt a look that suits (ha - no pun intended ) your style and feels damn good The days of needing to conform to standard attire are gone! 09.01.2022 Umm, damn. This is exceptional. All the colour we needed in our lives right now

09.01.2022 It's all in the location Picking your wedding venue has got to be just about the best fun out there. Yes, visits at the moment may be tricky, but we know some badass legends right now who are doing some epic virtual tours to tie you over until you can get out there! All those site visits may seem overwhelming - there are so many bloody good venues out there - but here are our top tips on creating your shortlist so you aren't doing site visits for dayyyzzzzzz... Think about the location of where you want your wedding - is it easily accessible for your guests? Where can people stay? Is it easy for them to get ubers home? Think about the shots that will be taken on your wedding day and what will be in the background: do you want views, water, beach, graffiti (like these gorgeous shots from @dan.vickers and @goldandgrit)? Do you want a venue that's all-inclusive or do you want to customise your weddings a little more? Check out what they include in their hire or if just the blank canvas sort of hire Can you picture you, your lover, and your guests there? That's a BIG one. Don't choose it because it's the number one venue or because so and so knows the owner. Pick a venue that you resonate with. You'll feel it, we promise That should get your cracking, but if you are still having trouble culling your list, jump into one of our wedding workshops (link in bio) - COVID may have us in lockdown but zoom is the bomb Get out there and keep planning lovers - the best is yet to come PWP x

03.01.2022 Food, glorious food Are you big foodies? Is your wedding menu one of your top priorities? Do you know the right questions to ask your potential caterers to ensure you get the ultimate wedding menu? Getting your food lingo down is key getting exactly what you want for your wedding day. We've kicked you off with a few of the main terms you'll come across as you start your research journey into all things food-related:... Share Plates: Usually 2 or 3 proteins (generally meats or meat alternatives and 3 or 4 sides (like veggies, potatoes, noodles, salads, etc) that are placed in the center of the table and serve around 8 - 10 guests family-style per set of dishes. Great for round or banquet tables and you can focus your table style on place settings rather than in the center of the tables as room is needed all for that food (great for low budgets as not as many florals are required to fill a table). Grazing table: Generally a stunning table (like the one featured here by @grapeandfig) packed full with cheeses, charcuterie, fruits, lavosh, and multitudes of other deliciousness. We recommend having a table like this set up for when your ceremony finishes for guests to snack on while photos are being taken to tie them over until the main meal is served. This beauty works for all times in the day and you can ask your caterer if they customise them based on what time of day your wedding is. Just be wary if you are having a summer wedding - humans aren't the only ones who love artisanal cheeses Plated menu: The age-old question "Chicken or fish" is where this menu originated. Each guest is served their own individual plate of food and most caterers will offer 2 different options. We recommend usually having a red meat dish and a chicken or fish to cover all bases and ensuring you get your guest's dietaries well in advance so you can give you caterer a heads up for any vegetarian or vegan meals. This menu allows for more tablescape creativity. Do you still have a million more questions? 02.01.2022 Keep your spirits high Monday is here again and we've spent the weekend researching fun ways to still celebrate your (would be) wedding day and how to still have a honeymoon even with the travel bans in place There are some seriously creative people and articles floating around at the moment If you've come across any, please share! We think we've talked enough about unique weddings now for you to know we are big fans of any rule-breaking that goes on in the wonderful world of weddings So, we guess also, you'd had no trouble believing that we are keen to see a shakeup the food front ... Gone of the days where are big white plate with a minuscule amount of 'the chicken' or 'the fish' is the done thing at a wedding We say, have your favorite foods and PLENTY of it (10 points to Ravenclaw if you can send home leftovers as wedding favours to make your wedding more #zerowaste) Food trucks and festival weddings make things so much fun and super casual Do a canape menu all night so you can have some super cool lounge furniture rather than formal seating Change is up and have your favourite breakfast foods, or hell - have a dessert wedding (more cakes from @studiobcouture please!) Mix up the time of day you have your wedding to change your food format Your menu tends to influence your whole wedding, so it can be one of the greatest things you switch up to make your wedding truly yours - it influences the style, your staff's uniforms, what furniture you need, and what you are drinking Be brave and walk into a new world of wedding food - there's plenty of legends out there to help!
