24.01.2022 Oils are pure fats and we just don't need them in our diet. In fact they can be quite harmful and there is little or contrary evidence behind what the marketing campaigns are selling us. They are super high calorie and nutrient poor. Eat the whole food (coconut, olives, sunflower seeds) instead!

13.01.2022 Eggs are not a health promoting food. The consumption of just 2 eggs per week leads to an increased risk of serious diseases such as diabetes, gestational diabetes, bowel cancer, heart disease and salmonella poisoning. In Australia eggs are a top culprit for salmonella outbreaks in restaurants and cruise-ships. According to microbiologist and infectious diseases Dr Peter Collignon eggs are the cause of 75% of salmonella food poisoning in Australia. So hold that aoili, mayonna...ise and the chocolate mousse. This is because eggs come from the rectum (cloaca) of chickens which carry the salmonella bacteria (yes, gross!). So why are there TV ad's about eggs being good protein, news stories about them having "good fats" and dietitians claiming they are so healthy. Because the 'Australian Egg Corporation' is trying to drive sales of a product they can't sell. They can't sell it to me or any other vegan and we are growing faster than they imagined. Demand is down. Officially their industry growth is slowing because more people care about the chickens. If not for the chickens I hope it's for their health. A free range or back yard chicken egg is just an unhealthy for you! Complete with a collection of recipes towards the back. The top 5 tips I gained: - Avoid metals in your food, water, food packaging and personal hygiene (aluminium, copper, and zinc and iron above the natural supply from plant foods) - Avoid animal products (including fish and dairy) due to cholesterol and fats and eat lo...ads of plant foods - Sleep! generaly we do not get enough in quantity of quality - Keep physically and mentally active every day - Review your medications with your doctor See more

03.01.2022 Psychiatry and nutrition have become my top two interests in medicine and addiction to eating and seeking comfort from food is both a psychological issue and recipe for health problems. Literally feeding your emotions does not help you process or manage big emotions and distress. Eating is essential for life and health but it is an unhelpful and unhealthy coping strategy for managing distress, discomfort and emotional regulation. Andrew Spud Fit Taylor suffered with his addi...ction to eating, it was not pleasurable, it was not helpful and all that eating did not make it easier or better over time. His potato-only diet has been viewed as extreme and criticised for its lack of "palatable pleasure". Andrew has spent the past year posting about all the benefits this simplistic diet has given him, which is by no means limited to the following: - reduced thoughts about food or the next meal - reduced time preparing food - significant weight loss - other physical health gains (improved blood pressure and cholesterol) - increased energy - a shift in his daily focus to other enjoyable experiences - a better relationship with food For someone who was preoccupied by thoughts of food; his next meal, struggling with his weight and mood, it appears his simplistic diet has given him the freedom, health gains and relationship with food that he sought. Andrew found exercise, music, family and other sources of enjoyment and freedom from his addiction to food. Addiction, including food addiction, is complex. It is nice to see that something as simple as a potato diet can be a solution. Andrew was ready for change, seeking another way and committed. I am not suggesting that Andrew's self-prescribed management is the best or recommended treatment, and support and medical evaluation are essential. I do recommend reading his blog post, he shares a wonderful perspective....
